  1. You are correct, the call "legit cheats" exploits. As in, "Third person was never intended to allow a player to look over walls and around corners."
  2. "If you don't want to use training wheels just take them off your bike. Stop telling me I'm not really going to enjoy riding a bike and let me use my training wheels, I prefer them. What? No I don't want a tricycle. I want to ride a bike... I just like training wheels on it."
  3. I do play on 3PP servers. One of my favorites is 3PP but I vastly prefer the better gameplay on 1st person. Remember my "telling others what they should do" from your perspective is "enriching other's lives by trying to get them to play a better game experience" from my perspective. I'm not going to stop telling people that 1PP is better until it isn't a better experience.
  4. One could, but they would be laughed at. It's not more difficult to be able to see what loot is in the deer stand by standing on the ground and swinging the camera around. It's not more difficult to avoid every zombie in town because you can see them coming with simple camera swings. (Zombies are not dangerous most of the time but they do risk giving your position away to more dangerous threats like players). Finding a gun and ammo then sitting on top of a building and "scouting" in a manner where no one can see you back so that you can pop up and shoot them in the back isn't more difficult. As for the target it's not more difficult for them either because they simply avoid any of the "sniper positions". Neither of them take a risk and the game stagnates. In 1PP both the hiding sniper and the target have to expose themselves to see the other. There is risk and that risk equal difficulty.
  5. The issue with having it all is that you will always have "that guy" friend who wants to play "the easy way". It's the friend who will donate to get the starter kit on those servers that allow it missing the point of a survival game. The same guy who wants map markers and waypoints to work so they don't have to bother with navigation. We all have that friend and if we want to play with them we have to play "easy mode". The other issue is the fact that the majority of people given two options will take the easiest option even if it is, in the end, less rewarding. If I offered most kids either $2 to wash the dishes and a trip to the store to buy whatever they wanted with the $2 or the opportunity to sit and watch TV while I did the dishes and a candy bar I had on hand worth less, most would chose the second option. I honestly believe the people who play 3PP are cheating themselves of a much better experience for the sake of convenience.
  6. Not being a "cheat" and not being "exploitable" is not the same thing though. You can't honestly tell me that 3PP can't be exploited. I know that most will say, "Well you have access to it just like the other people." Yes I do, but 3PP favors campers. That means it favors those who have already looted and are ready and gives them even MORE of an advantage over the "bambis". A geared up player can wander to the coast or hangout near a military spawn and camp it. They have what they need and don't have to move. The bambi has to move or starve. They have to find gear. It also trivializes already weak zombies. You can easily see them around corners and over fences and prepare or avoid them. Playing 1PP last night I turned a corner into the face of a zombie and got whacked before I could slip away. Ruined my jacket and damaged an item inside. In 3PP I would have spotted it easily(I have in identical situations) and slipped away. In addition 3PP turns a battle into "Hide and pop shot." Covering fire doesn't work to pin people down so they don't see others movement and so many other tactics including CQC clearing of a building are gone. In my honest opinion there is no reason to play a game in 3PP if you have a 1PP option so why WASTE development time on 3PP?
  7. My bad, I read it the wrong way then. :)
  8. History disagrees with you.
  9. Google "Color blindness" and you get to see a huge number of people suffering from it. But I don't see a color correction option in the game so that other players stand out against the backgrounds more. Google "Arthritis" it's not just an elderly issue either, there are a huge number of people suffering from it. But I don't see a voice control option in the game so that players can play without cramping their fingers around a mouse. Maybe we need an auto-aim feature for those who have a medical condition (I can think of dozens of them) that makes careful control of a mouse difficult. I used to play games with a friend with cerebral palsy. When we got together we wouldn't play FPS, racing games, flight sims, or anything like that. We wouldn't even play RTS games but played turn based games where if it took him a minute to input orders because he was having trouble with the controls it was fine. He didn't insist games have features to overcome his personal challenges, he just didn't play them.
  10. The "works cited" are a 404 page. The other links lead to studies on motion sickness which are not specific to visual motion sickness from realistic video games. So I am going to ignore the 10-50% claim until actual peer reviewed studies are presented.
  11. Do you really have a link to these amazing statistics? I would like to see them.

Locations of Mags, for the sporter.

Deerstands can be a solid source for civilian ammo/mags. I also think those might spawn in barns.

Anybody els noticed the m249 Para is comming?

...and that is just it. They have different people working on different things and likely have a person doing weapon models and animations. They are probably done with this weapon and so are simply putting it in the game to work the bugs out of it(like endless ammo clips or animations that break) and not caring about balance at this point. We always have to remember we are not playing a finished game. Trucks were invulnerable for a long time until they could put in the damage systems for them and thus were OP during that period. :)
  14. As stated players will lean toward the easier gameplay the majority of the time. That doesn't mean it is 'better' just simpler. It's like stating, "People prefer to start with a gun. What's the problem with that?" "Well, now that they start with a gun they would prefer an M4 with two mags. What's the problem with that?" and so on.

Not once the endurance & weight systems are in game not to mention the foretold character slowdown once more vehicles are around. Humping this around will hopefully be a pain. Well worth it from static positions but not for fast movement.

    How do you use vehicles

No, I just know how to be as mature as you try to claim.
  17. The majority of people will take the path of least resistance. Which mode is easier? 3PP, ergo more people will play it because it is the easier of the two options. Just like most people will choose ARMA III servers with waypoints enabled instead of the mercenary servers where you have to actually have some navigations skills.
  18. Not really... by that I mean if you are looking for something like a larger or more camouflaged backpack or say a waterproof military top instead of the black rain jacket you are wearing. With 1PP you have to look a bit more carefully moving past a barracks while in 3PP you can simply buzz past and will see if there is anything inside easily. Train cars you can buzz by quickly. Say you have all the ammo, food, and clothing you need but are just checking civilian houses for rifles/shotguns you can literally run past several of them in 3PP and check. Same thing with many deer stands. 3PP you can often stand on the ground and search them while 1PP you have to climb up into them to look.

    How do you use vehicles

You need to stop using that as an excuse and/or badge. I'm the same age as you and understand how to communicate. You can do it. Try harder.
  20. 3PP servers are easymode. You don't have to enter most buildings to look for items just swing the camera around as you run past the window. If and when Zombies become a nuisance again you can easily avoid them by peeking over and around things. Firefights devolve into hiding in cover waiting for the other person to break cover, pre-aiming, then popping up and shooting them. Driving is simple in 3PP and even gives you extra camera pull back so you can easily see people behind walls you pass instead of having to worry about not seeing someone and having them pop out once you pass and blow a tire out. On top of that the immersion is better in 1PP. As for those that feel ill from 1PP... sorry, but we don't make movies with nothing but a black screen because some people are blind and can't enjoy the visual quality of it. They also don't make DayZ with a high contrast mode or with a "color blind" mode where the players don't blend in with everything.

The problem with the game. My views

99 bugs in the lines of the code, 99 bugs in the code take one down, fix it around 127 bugs in the lines of the code That is how coding sometimes goes. "It didn't work ten patches ago and I don't read patch notes so I just complain about things without even trying them out." Step one) find clothing items and cut any you won't wear into cloth. Step two) when you have two sets of six cloth strips stacked up craft a rope Step three) find burlap sack which are plentyfull Step four) craft backpack and then find some sticks and make it bigger. 20 slot backpack the same as a Taloon but better color and outline. Step five) go back and read ALL the patch notes to find out how most of the crap you are complaining about isn't an issue if you bothered to learn anything about the game.

    Server removal

Solution... Private servers with a good community and owners/moderators that communicate what is going on. Anything like that will have warnings as to when persistence might be wiped or what is going on with the server. In fact some of those communities take votes from the players as to what setting they want.

    Curiosity peaked

This would be why in the mod whenever I was piloting it was full speed nap of the earth or so high no one could get a shot and you never ever come down using autohover. ;) Even so I had my Little Bird shot out from under me a few times. Anything basically full auto that can throw a lot of lead into your path can ruin your day.

A better comparison might be someone complaining about have to shift all the time when they bought a car with manual transmission. ;)
