    Just shoot me.

Do you really not grasp the concept that not everyone who says, "Get down, lower your gun." isn't going to mug you? Or do you regularly get into firefights with cops?

    Just shoot me.

Actually... you need to read your OP. Hey look at that. <_<

    Just shoot me.

Ehem... You are stating that rather than coming up behind you when we are in your area we should just shoot you. You see, our choices in game are: Avoid you and hope you don't catch sight of us. Since we saw you, we were likely heading to the same general area you are in presumably to look for items. Shoot you on sight. This is boring as hell and I can play a single player game and just shoot anything that might be vaguely a danger to me. Players are both more and less skilled than most game's AI. If I approached this from a strictly PVP game you would be dead. Talk to you and risk you being actively hostile. I tend to go with the first option. Second option gets done in certain areas and with certain folks who's actions already are actively hostile. I mean if you see someone camped out on a hill overlooking a common loot spot with a LRS... their intentions are not typically all that noble. If they are shooting at people in that area I won't even take a second to consider it, Blam! When I go for the third option of interacting with you I will be doing so with my own well being in mind. You will not be pointing a gun at me or approaching close to me. I might be willing to help you out if you seem decent. I will be willing to shoot you if you seem even vaguely hostile. This means I will ask people to drop or put away their guns, and I will have a fully loaded gun pointed at them at the time. That doesn't mean I'm robbing them. If you can't grasp that someone might be willing to help you, but doesn't want to get killed themselves and so is going to take precautions... well.... that is your loss.

    Best Pistol

Oddly enough when I go inside a building or walk down a city street the engagement range is typically less than 50 meters. Hmmmmmmm....

    Just shoot me.

No, you're a dick for assuming that me protecting myself = me molesting you and then figuratively sticking your fingers in your ears and going.... "Llaalaalalalalaalala caaaaaaan't heeeeaaaar yooooouuuuu." when people try to explain why they approach you that way and that it doesn't mean you are going to be mugged.

    Just shoot me.

Walk up to someone and talk to their face. 75% of the time you will be shot before you get a word out. Walk up behind someone and tell them, "Hi I'm friendly please don't shoot me." and about 50% of the time they will act friendly and shoot you as soon as they can arrange it. Walk up behind someone and make sure they can't kill you easily(AKA "Put away your weapon.") and about 25% of the time they will play along until they can kill you. I'll play the odds. I have no intention of mugging you. If I wanted your crap I would simply pop you in the head and take it. What I want is to talk to you but most of us who have played since the Mod understand that doing so puts US at great risk and so will minimize it by approaching you carefully and at our advantage. I have actually given a guy a spare can opener. I'd rather give it to them than be forced to kill them when they try and hit me with a shovel to take it. I did so at gunpoint, and refusing to let them get close to me.

    Just shoot me.

No.. the issue is that you think every, "Freeze, don't turn around and put that gun away." is going to turn into a mugging. I'm unlikely to kill you if I can avoid you. I'm unlikely to tell you to freeze unless I feel I need to approach you for something... even friendship. However, if I do feel the need to approach you I am going to do so where I have the advantage and you will die if I feel you are the least bit hostile. Why? Because if I do not then I will die. Just because it starts out with me pointing a gun at you, doesn't mean it will end with bullets flying... unless you predetermine the outcome like you seem inclined to do.

    Cars in Dayz Standalone

Oh come on. Half the fun of having a vehicle in the Mod was to load up a few friends and drive around fully armed seeing if anyone will take a pot shot at you or if they will all hide in the bushes and shiver as you drive by. I remember shivering in the bushes as an armed vehicle drove by.. me and my lee enfield with 8 shots remaining. :)

    Just shoot me.

That is your choice... but you don't get to tell us to stop making ours which is to not shoot you on sight but to try and talk to you.

    Just shoot me.

Yes you are, it's a multiplayer game. Welcome to having other people around you. A single player game can have silent AI that kill you for no reason just as easily, only a multi-player game has player interaction. If you hate player interaction, which includes verbal ones, the easiest route is to not play multiplayer games. Spinning around and shooting the guy holding you up is nearly as entertaining for them as talking to them. Trust me, you will like the fact that they interact with you a lot better than, "You Are Dead." popping up over and over with no indication as to why you just died. Was it a sniper from 800m out, a guy who saw you grab the fireax he was heading for, or some scared guy who thought you were the one putting rounds near him despite you not having a visible gun.

    Burlap bonehead

I have no issue with his playstyle but I still can't believe anyone enjoys his poorly written simplistic stories. WTH? You need to read more. The crappy free novels in the Kindle store are typically better written than anything I have seen him post.
  12. You don't need "Loadouts", you really don't. You can kill zombies with your fists if you have to. In the Mod without anything you were helpless till you found a pistol/crowbar/hatchet/machete. In SA you can defend yourself from the moment you spawn, although not very well. They are changing the loot system around so that you will be able to find something to defend yourself with and I am certain I don't need to mention the word "alpha".

    The Curse of Green Mountain

Yes, I know... that video clip was specifically from Breaking Point gameplay, which is what I was saying. Breaking Point devs were never shy about "utilizing" others IP.

    In Need of Bank Script

Find the Epoch forum and look for posts from Maca and/or look for the custom combat gaming site as every server they run has a bank/currency system in place. Then again nearly all their servers are borderline P2W with gear loadouts for "donations".
  15. Why wouldn't it fool the other person? Person shoots at you, you fall down with the proper animation behind a bush/crate/rock. You watch till person comes to loot your body then roll and shoot them.
  16. mercules

Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?

I did... You experience a bug that I do not which is launching yourself from running into them. Why would you be running into a zombie in the first place... because you don't know how to deal with them which took all of 1 encounter with them to figure out they lunge at you and how to dodge it. So as stated, I'm sorry you haven't figured out how to deal with them and encounter the "bug".

    Where/How to store loot?

Which might be WHY he wants to store things because tomorrow those things might not be as easily found. ;)
  18. mercules

    Where/How to store loot?

Well, considering he can only carry 2 main guns it might be that he wants an SKS, Mosin, Blaze, and M4 so he can play around with all of them after various patches? Maybe he just wants to stockpile 2-3 M4s instead of finding a second one and leaving it lay there? Maybe he doesn't want to carry around a ton of items in his backpack or only wants a small backpack. I'm pretty sure he wants to stockpile ammo and guns and I could make a judgement on that... but I won't.
  19. Yes, very true fact. The general public doesn't want to play restricted to FPV. We get that. I think he was looking for more specific answers like... "I don't like to play the game when I can't exploit corners and looking over walls to see zombies or other players when they can't see me."
  20. Opinion is not fact. /continuethread
  21. Well, you can't see around corners and over low walls in Hardcore so camping and sniping becomes harder. That would be the main reason why. ;) I think those that like the challenge of Hardcore are also more willing to overlook deaths to bugs and other unstable things and so are more willing to play on the experimental versions of the servers. That might explain the discrepancy in the ratio.... that and I believe BI pays for the experimental ones instead of individuals who want the easier setting enabled.

    Where/How to store loot?

Yes, give BI and Dean more money for buying the mod on a second Steam Account. Log in from two different computers and hand your alter ego whatever you want to "store". Nothing practical though.

Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?

The crouching zombie is awesome, harder to hit, hits harder, and much better than the Mod version. In the mod he runs up, then stands up to hit you. Here he has his own animation for moving and others for attacking. It is definitely NOT a "copy it from the mod" thing. I'm sorry you find them difficult to deal with but that doesn't mean it is a "bug". It's nice having threats at multiple levels instead of just panning the gun around at one level going, "Head, head, head,"

    A very big complaint

This are all issues EVERYONE has when they begin. I remember way back in the Mod the first time I hopped on and tried to find a friend who had been playing for a bit. Had to use the out of game map to have any clue. I was incredibly nervous around zombies and gun shots got my heart pumping. He was newish as well so we went in circles for a bit but finally met up. 40 minutes later we ran into a few people, both died and started the process all over. After a while you learn tricks for figuring out where you are. You can follow the lay of the land and roads and come up with a rough idea of your location. Tips: Use Roads for navigation. Don't run on it but keep it in sight. You can then judge where you are on the map by how the road turns or buildings along it. Road signs can pinpoint you. You don't even have to get near them, binoculars/scope can let you read them from a good way off. Natural markers can be VERY helpful. Follow a stream, use a pond as a location to head to or a set of rocks. There are towers or castles at very high locations, they can make a very nice fixed landpoint you can easily see and head towards even if you end up getting turned around. You CAN actually navigate by the stars. If you know how to find the Northstar in real life you can find it in the game. Otherwise the server time and location of sun can help.
  25. Epoch is fine. The issues most people claim to have with Epoch relate to what happens to Epoch when the host adds in all the extra crap they and their players want to add in. People have problems with: Just Trading For Whatever You need: Thing is, vanilla Epoch doesn't restock the traders. That means that other than a couple initial being available the Traders won't have anything people didn't find and trade in for Gold. If you don't run a script to refill them people can't have an endless supply of ammo/food/vehicles from them. If you make certain helicopters spawn rarely and don't put any in the traders then someone will have to find one and sell it before anyone can buy one. An active host can actually go in and monitor the stock on traders and alter it if he knows anything about SQL. Safe Zones: Don't exist in vanilla Epoch. There if you go to a trader city you should probably have a friend. You can be shot very easily while in the animation for doing the trade and to trade something like guns(which you can get an okay amount for) you have to have the gun in your hands, meaning you are basically left with a pistol if ambushed. My friend and I used to ONLY go to traders together, one would be guard and the other actually trade. Locked Vehicles:Yes, you can lock your vehicles... and then someone can shoot them, steal the tires off them, or even steal them if they find a rare drop Lockpick Kit. Sure you can't just run up and hop in someone's chopper when the walk away from it, but you can make it so they can't use it, or kill them and steal it, or just steal it... but it takes a bit of time. Vehicles are NOT safe. I have screwed with so many I can't even count anymore. Lots of Loot: Only because hosts add in extra buildings or futz with the loot tables. Rare guns are still rare if they don't up the drop rate and/or stock the traders. The issue is the hosts give in to players and soon everyone is running around with "rare" guns. Same thing with vehicles. Safes: This is probably the only legitimate claim people have. It's the conundrum. You need a LOT of rare items to build a base unless hosts grant you "starter" packages or put in easy missions with lots of building supplies then building something like a base out of Cinder and Metal(wood can be hacked open pretty quick) means stockpiling lots of hard to find items. You need 7 cinder and 2 mortar to make 1 wall and a small base able to protect one car takes about 8 walls so, 56 Cinder and 16 Mortar. On top of that you will need about 4 metal floors which means 64 tank traps and 128 scrap metal. So... how many Tank Traps do you run into and carry around in a daily session? There is also realistic weight so hauling around just 2 Cinderblock will force you to stop and rest about every 30 meters or risk passing out. So some way to protect things you are stockpiling is needed, but I have seen groups with 20-30 safes with spreadsheets and that is just stupid. I've considered setting up an Epoch server with no Safes and upping the spawn rate of lock boxes for zombies. You can't store stupid amounts of items in them and you would have to shoot actual zombies to find them. Basically, Epoch isn't the problem, the problem is all of them are private servers and the people hosting them crank the loot up and the difficulty down. They want people able to make bases that reach to the sky and PVP fests and that is what they set their server up to do. The vanilla ones or ones with a couple simple scripts that don't really affect play are the best ones.
