I found one in a Deerstand.

Realistic Gunshots? + My little Show Off.

Seconded... it's been mentioned many times sound hasn't been touched yet and is broken.

Put your hands up = death

See the, "Go down swinging cause they only want to shoot you anyway." just gets you shot. If I have no intention of shooting you if you comply and will just move on or help you, choosing not to put your hands up means I will have to respond with shooting you. You basically close off any other possible interaction that could go on.

Is it ok to Lock a server now?

Yes. Game is in Alpha and they need a few things from that. 1. They need to not have locked servers connected to the hive. Otherwise people will build up and stockpile on a locked server then hop over to a busy public one to shoot people. They did it in the Mod, they will do it in the SA. So ONLY private servers should ever be allowed to be locked. 2. They want data and they want to be sure that all servers are set up more or less the same and gets traffic through them so the can see if there are any glitches they will need to fix in future updates.

    The "ruined" status must go.

Why wouldn't you bleed from punching? Not every punch is going to cause bleeding but punches damage tissue and can tear it or do crush injuries where the skin splits. There is also a pretty good chance of internal bleeding. I also don't understand why punching wouldn't break objects. Sure it might not be realistic that punching will easily damage a .45 pistol but it can definitely ruin a can of food, soft drink, sewing kit, compass, weapon scope, and more. Supposedly some day attacks/weapons will have categories of damage. So punching is blunt, axe is cutting damage, bullets are ballistic damage, and such. Then they can say that Item X takes less damage from crushing force and more from cutting. So a jacket wouldn't take much damage from fists or even a baseball bat, but a knife would shred it.

You show me yours, I'll show you mine

The problem is that most people's definition of someone who should be killed on sight, even those who are generally "good guys" is, "They have a rifle/axe/pistol." For some it goes down to "fists". Basically it is a circular problem. Everyone is afraid of and can't trust anyone else because everyone is afraid of and can't trust anyone else. So hopefully someday someone will come up with some system that allows us some insight into if that person is trustworthy or not. In real life you can often read intent unless the person is a seriously practiced liar, has no affect, believes they are telling the truth, or is a psychopath (which again likely leads back to one of those others reasons).
  7. Depends on the well. Shallow wells like a sandpoint often draw from a high water table that doesn't filter out all contaminates. Often older wells are not properly set up so that contaminates can leak into them during a flooding or from some other overflow. At that point the well can be unsafe to drink from. Sandpoints are all but illegal in the state I live in for drinking purposes. At my Grandma's Cabin back in the 70s-80s you basically had an underground tube running to the lake with filters on both ends. These days you could never do that.

List of things that bug me when playing DayZ

Yes this. Worn to me is my cat who likes to ride around on my shoulder's didn't have her claws clipped when she was up there and so now it has some minor tiny holes in it that given future wearing or washing will likely get bigger. Not, "Oh my collar isn't as stiff and starched as when I ironed it this morning." Damaged is many small holes, to the point where I get it caught on things and maybe even "ruin" it. Having to clean my rifle/shotgun/pistol after I use it isn't worn. Needing to take it completely apart and do some minor maintence on it because otherwise it will have some rust soon is worn... maybe I have to futz with the sights a bit. Damaged is actual rust. Ruined is it being at the point where it won't fire.

List of things that bug me when playing DayZ

Yeah, but I'm not seeing any in this thread. List of things you don't like is just things you don't like especially when you haven't actually stated why each of those things is something you don't like and/or given actual feedback on each of them. Example: "Server restart does not reset time of day." Okay, so why is that a bad thing? I think it's a good thing it doesn't. So... give some feedback.

Face It - This game is PvE

Actually, I'm not. You posted in a thread. I commented on your post. You got all irrate about someone daring to comment on your PUBLIC post to a forum thread, which by the way is what forum threads are about, public discussions and anyone being able to comment. No, you are on a forum responding to a thread. That means you are having a conversation with anyone who decides to read and respond to said thread. It's a FORUM. Look up the word "forum" it's a place of public assembly that later because a place to share news and discuss things in a community. If you wanted a private conversations you use PM AKA Private Messages. You didn't even quote the OP which gives the impression that you were responding to the thread in general and not a specific poster in said thread. Only aggressiveness was returning your tone you used in your writing. I tend to play on private servers where you tend to get to know the other players and which shoot at others and which are more helpful. So while I might not have been alone on those servers I can safely say that I have spent upwards of 800 hours in the mod on servers where the people online at the time were not PVP orientated or only shot back, never started anything. In otherwords the chance of PVP was so low as to be non-existent. No we are not because this statement is hypocritical. You can't say the game is almost entirely about PVP and that PVE is what makes it what it is. I'm not saying it's either or, but PVE being so important means it can't be 95% PVP. I'm being to believe you don't understand the point of discussion things on a public forum where anyone is allowed to respond to your comments in an open and free manner? That your opinion is probably incorrect? That at least one experience invalidates your comment? I don't know I thought that was pretty clear... but then you don't get that forums are public discussions so....

Zambies kill you even when they're dead.

I think you mean "figuratively" because I can "literally" kill a zombie without being hit.

Done. I still have fun with the PvE. Do you want to have an honest talk now? I'll say the same thing I've been saying.

Face It - This game is PvE

The only problem I have with PVP advocates is their predilection to claiming that there isn't anything else worthwhile in DayZ. I am not against PVP, I think it needs to be in the game. I also think there needs to be enough PVE threats that PVP takes a back seat as the primary threat to a player. It still needs to be a threat, but all those other factors need to be as much if not more of a threat.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Gosh if only someone somewhere had a link.... like maybe in their signature.... someone who might have already posted in this thread... if only.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

There has been at least one citation I know of from wikipedia that was demonstrably false. About all Wikipedia is good for is looking of the sources cited and then tracking those sources down to actually use them. At that point you might as well have just gone to the library and done the research as you would have likely found more. It's a good source for quick general ideas about something, but not in any way a definitive source.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

The issue with sticking to standard Alpha and Beta definitions is that by those definitions not a single player should have been invested by Alpha. The latest batch of games that are selling access during the early stages of development don't fit standard Alpha/Beta/Release schedules. Here is why I say that. Because people are actively playing you can't leave major gaping holes in the code like you normally would during alpha. Typically in an alpha if it crashed the game server when some performed a series of actions in a certain sequence you would make note of it, ask the testers and coders not to do that, and move on until you did a bug pass. When you have thousands of people playing the game you can't ignore that. You literally have to fix it before you can move on. This is something you would do later in Alpha or maybe even in Beta and you have to do it right away or some a-hole player out there will go around doing it just for fun to everyone's server. Instead they have to do a bunch of mini-alpha & mini-beta passes. They put in a new feature(typically an alpha task) but then need to make sure that feature doesn't make the game unplayable for the majority of the people playing. They can't just let it sit till later.
  19. Clearly Bill Gates should not have been leading the Windows development if he had no clue how easy and rampant all these Windows hacks were. <_<

Rain will be the new night?

You missed it. There was several days on Exp. where finding food was difficult. Never before had I bothered to hit up an apple tree or hunt, but with persistence at first the only thing you were finding in spawn points were pants, shoes, ruined items, and rotten fruit. My character only survived because I found an apple tree far enough out of any cities that I felt semi-safe and sat there long enough to eat myself sick on apples... and that was a LOOOOOOONG time. I am about to play the "It's an Alpha." card. All that water lying around won't be safe to drink forever. See, in the mod you drink soda or boiled water. Otherwise there is a chance you can get sick from the water and then you need antibiotics. Antibiotics can be rare so you avoid that. So finding a pond means filling your canteen, building a fire with the matches and hatchet you looted as well as the wood you cut from trees, then using an empty tin can you can boil the water. So eventually Hydrating will require a bit more than it does now. I think they are avoiding it until they can get the process for boiling functioning, which will probably require a pot. I am also fairly certain that cooking the food might give us more energy back than uncooked food. Not meaning heating up a can of bean, but I mean cooking rice, adding chicken, and beans or zucchini = more nourishing meal. The starvation/hydration thing is a simplified placeholder that is getting better. Of course not. The game would be boring if the dangerous humans out there went away and we only faced the zombies or AI bandits. However, having something to do in the game and worry about besides other players would be a very nice thing, as you said above. It will also tone down some of the instant gratification PVP, especially if they move the more interesting guns and items away from the new spawn areas so that people are forced to do at least some surviving to get better gear for PVP.

Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?

You keep mentioning this. You do realize that Rocket climbed Mount Everest in May of 2013. We couldn't purchase DayZ SA until January of 2013. Now trips like that are typically paid for months if not a year in advance meaning that while the game was in development and no one knew how many people would buy into Alpha he was arranging his climb. He didn't see money roll in and go, "I'm going to go blow some money!" like you are implying. Also, how he decides to spend money he earned in his personal life is really of no concern of yours. The number of people who see a game in production and go, "Oh they are gouging us on the price. The devs are not eating elbow macroni with canned tomatos and some hotdogs chopped up in it so they are wasting our money that could go into the game! I think one of them ordered a $15 sandwich for lunch the other day. I don't eat $15 sandwiches for lunch so they must be wasting our money." is ridiculous. I've seen this with multiple games.

Rain will be the new night?

To be fair the horror thing is hard to do in a scripted game. I can't figure out how they might get it to work in an open world game. Even so since I only play on First Person servers I know I have turned a corner to come face to face with a zombie or another player and jumped in real life. :)

Your thoughts on the newest implementations

In checking the weather just yesterday at the Chisnau Airport I can see it had a 30+ deg F swing. From 82 to 51. That is roughly the realistic world area Chernarus is supposed to exist. From Odessa, Ukraine I found a 2013 temperature chart: On September 6th you will notice that it went from 70 degrees to 45 degrees in a day. You can overheat in the sun wearing warm clothing on a 70 degree day and have problems with hypothermia at 45 degrees if you don't have a coat. That is a location on the coast where the ocean temperature should help mellow out sudden changes some.

Your thoughts on the newest implementations

You obviously don't live in the Midwest of U.S. In September we can wake up with it being below freezing and have it high 70s - low 80s that same day. Going the opposite direction is even more likely where you have a warm over night into a hot afternoon and then snow that night. It all depends on where the jet stream decides to swing. So Minnesota where I currently live: Think about it going from 20 degrees to 70 degrees or the other way around in under a half hour. I know in the Spring and Fall in Minnesota I dress in layers and always carry spare clothing in the car if going anywhere. If it's cool I bring shorts and wear a t-shirt under my other shirts. If it warm I bring pants and a light jacket/hoody or sweater along. You have to or you end up sick when the weather suddenly changes and you are sweating/freezing.
