    Hi there, I have been having an issue for a while with all Bohemia Interactive games. Particularly Arma 2 CO, Arma 3 and the DayZ Standalone. On random days my ping would sky rocket the moment I join the server despite it looking perfectly normal in the browser. By high I mean 600+ms sometimes even 2000ms. This only occurs in these games meaning Battlefield 4 or any other game would be perfectly fine for online play while Arma is ****ing itself. I have looked for solutions through Google but nothing I found so far has worked. Worst yet, Battleye support ignores my plead for help. Could some techno forum god possibly solve my problem?

    I finally fixed the problem. I changed over from uncapped to capped. Ping is fine now.

  4. Does anyone know if the ballistic helmet stops 7.62 or 5.56? If so do you know if range, angle to target or any one of those factors affect it? I know the helmet stops .45acp and I also heard that the helmet protects your face as well. Is this true? Seems like complete horse to me.

    I've shot someone point blank in their leg and they survived. It depends on the distance and where the bullet hits.

    Did anyone watch the latest episode of The Walking Dead? There was a tank in a very similar setting that DayZ is in and yet we probably won't even see the DMR making a appearance in SA because it's too OP.
  9. There aren't any rangefinders in the standalone and shift-clicking on a map doesn't work anymore. There aren't any mil-dots on scopes so you can't work out range from there but I have devised a method to find out the exact distance from you to your enemy, friends or destination. You will need: A map of the AO, the knowledge to read a map, a calculator of any sorts. Let me set the scene: You see a player far away from you, you don't wanna scare him off by taking pot shots at him. You want the 1 hit kill. http://imgur.com/iBsPBhG 1. Take out your map, locate yourself and the target and zoom in fully. 2. Use the lines of latitude and longitude to measure the distance vertically and horizontally. (Each block represents 100m in both length and width) 3. Take those numbers and do a quick calculation: (300m*300m)+(600m*600m)=450 000 4. The square root of 450 000 is 671m 5. Take aim and fire! If you're struggling to find a map I recommend checking the GAZs at the towns north of Cherno. 1 GAZ is bound to have at least 1 map.

    I never got the 'healing' status. The only status I got was 'healthy' and I was full on food, drink, free of illness, full health and had no wounds. To get blood to regenerate you have to eat and drink until you get the 'My stomach is full' message.

    Compound Bow?

    In my opinion the compound bow will not compete with other suppressed rifles. I think the only time people will pick it up is when they don't have any other protection. The compound bow was horrible in the mod.

    Using the Hotbar for items.

    When taking out your pistol, the character stops running to do the animation. You can still control your characters direction while he's running and switching weapons. The hotbar also doesn't like too take out things when I tell it so just opening the gear menu and dragging the item into my hands is much quicker.

    Hey, am I the only one?

    AMEN BROTHER! Finally some praise for Rocket. The guy has been getting nothing but hate. The game is way better than anything I've ever played and even in it's alpha state. The people who aren't enjoying it can't play the game and don't believe that EVERY game has bugs no matter the developer. People seem to forget clicking the ''I understand'' button which comes up every time they launch it.

    Dean "Rocket" Hall, may I ask a Favor?

    I can't overcome the fact that there'll be even more immature kids playing this and that there will be anti-PVP riots in the streets. If the game receives more attention then yes, port it to console. But even with the button combinations, I don't see this game playing too well on a controller. Not just movement but flying choppers as well. The helicopters in Arma are VERY realistic and controlling it seems just like too much of a task.
  20. I agree with you completely. An improvised silencer would be awesome but I don't see myself using it that much on pistols or semi-automatic rifles. If it was a mosin then yes I would seeing as I would only use one shot anyways.

    Item condition - Worst idea ever

    The item condition forces you to handcuff and rob the player instead of just shooting him. Shooting them can be fun but handcuffing them is much more exciting. This way the gear will be in pristine condition when you loot him. Shooting players in the head works fine and does not damage anything below (you probably just shot at the top of the shirt collar, hence the damage). However I don't like the fact that ONE bullet can damage EVERYTHING in your backpack. I assume that because it's Alpha, he is still planning improve it and hopefully my assumption comes into practice.
  22. The wider your field of view the further the dot from your actual point of aim is. To test this aim the dot at a door handle, then go first person and you will see the crosshairs are actually higher than the dot. Regarding the scope-barrel connection, the scope and barrel should still be close enough together for you not to miss and hit the wall.

  24. The rage I receive from heroes/ noobs and the praise I receive from bandits after they've just been headshotted from 700m away with a DMR.
