Are people more hostile, or friendly?
FreedomTea replied to A27_StarWolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1, I used to pride myself on never killing any player, bandit or otherwise, but I was killed with some delicious loot and lost it. I found the military shotgun at a base and heard shooting near a coastal dock. I ran all the way over as shots continued - I wouldnt have found them if they hadnt been shooting so loud for so long. Once I arrived I saw three survivors... all looking the other way. For some reason I picked up the shotgun and downed two instantly, the third ran south towards a hanger, bleeding. I took him down running. I looted the hanger guy and heard shots in the distance - I went prone and began to crawl towards the others. I got halfway across the concrete when one of the dead guys just rolled over on his side and drew his pistol.... I put him down before he could fire but it was very strange. Thats the first time anything like that has happened on a game and it was pretty surreal, I could swear these guys were dead and the way he rolled over seemed so seamless and real - as if he was playing dead and waiting for me to come loot the corpse. I can only assume he passed out and then came around just as I was crawling over. It must have been pretty scary for him too. Needless to say I havent been killing since and now sit on 3.2k humanity, as the friend I play with keeps falling off deer towers and needing blood transfusions. Although if anyone hesistates to respond they will have to be put down as the loot I carry at the moment is pretty nice. Such is life in the zone. -
Extremely slow website is in dire need of a new host.
FreedomTea replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem is, this should have been done as a closed alpha, i mean some people even run closed betas. Being open from the start is great for all of us up until this point where it has rocketed out of control due to popularity - and it may be its undoing. We need a faster website yes, but the character request server is what is destroying us all. Never mind the fact that in addition to this you cant get on anyway because people are not hosting enough servers to meet demand. -
Low zombie count/low loot across servers
FreedomTea replied to Mezzanine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup EU2 last night had an average of 100 zombies, ussualy staying around 80 but peaking at 250. No loot respawned, not even cans. Every now and again there would be a little jump and loot would pop up but ussualy once per two hours. Playing with a group of four is hell as the servers are full, so we tried KC2 which had like 2,000 ping (being in EU), exact same problem there. Because its widespread im assuming its to do with the main server rather than each individual city server. -
I hate things like that, its hell trying to pinpoint the issue

Bind should be something thats not a two key press as it would be a very important bread and butter aspect of the game

In an attempt to rectify this persons poorly written post: I think he means add effects to the already existing weather, and I agree. Rain could be used to refill bottles, e.g. when raining a refill bottle option appears on the wheel menu. In addition it should sap your stamina etc. to give players an incentive to get out of the rain! I think in a game where simulation seems to be a high priority, weather HAS to have some sort of effect on gameplay.

Dedicated button for "Don`t shoot" sign
FreedomTea replied to DesertEagle (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, currently the system encourages those who have trust issues to shoot first and ask questions later - purely because it takes time to type, and your life during that time is in somebody elses hands. -
Go away JimmyRustle, now at least I know your tricks on EU3.

ArmA 2: CO in "Top Seller" list
FreedomTea replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Got five friends to buy it yesterday just for the mod, I really have no love for ArmaII, but DayZ is just incredible. I hope it doesn't stop growing, but as it is we need more servers to accommodate the new players, its rather hard getting six guys into the same server as it stands at peak hours.
