    Underground Bases....?

Hit the nail on the head. Couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, thank you for putting exactly what I was thinking into more articulate words :P

    Increased threat posed by zombies...

Thanks for the feedback. I honestly had completely forgotten about what kind of impact this would have on someone who preferred to play alone, as many DayZ gamers do. Hmmm Although being focused entirely on solo play, would you be opposed to an improved version of the zombie that would translate into a much more threatening and serious opponent? I guess i'm asking because in its current form the zombies honestly pose little to no challenge for someone who knows what they're doing. Very easy to dodge, escape, and not to mention exploit. So this new change would not provide a penalization to solo players as you suggest, but rather make the zombies much harder to deal with. So is it just the scavenging and survival aspect of the game you like? I'm asking because i'm trying to understand why you would be opposed to the change. Or is it not that you would be necessarily opposed to the new zombie threat itself but rather that you would be upset by the fact that that groups of players now have an advantage over you in certain scenarios? If thats the case think about this - someone in real life living alone in the woods and not having to deal with "bandits" would more than likely survive a lot long. But there are going to be a number of things this person cant do by themselves - it just a trade off.

    Increased threat posed by zombies...

Not if you can't survive alone. Or if you didn't have enough ammo to kill your "friends" and the herd of improved zombies that now pose a serious threat to you. Or if there are benefits/perks you can reap from staying together that you otherwise wouldn't be able to obtain.

    Underground Bases....?

Let me clarify real quick that I agree with you Beast, and you Inception. I dont think people should be allowed to build any sort of base like structures. It would definitely lead to some pretty severe server lag especially in conjunction with all the other new changes (IE zombies and loot spawning server side). BUT I think that fortifications are always an awesome idea. I don't particularly mind the current system, though there is definitely some room for improvement. But yeah having things like: barbed wire, chain link, 2x4 pieces of wood, tank traps, cinder blocks, sandbags, etc. Essentially just making it so that by yourself you can only do minimal fortifications, but with a group of people scavenging for these items you could potentially have a pretty solid stronghold - but never an impenetrable fortress or bunker.

    Underground Bases....?

Bean me up scotty. If its something that the community dislikes as much as I do I think Dean and the team would want to know.

    Increased threat posed by zombies...

I guess...my bad? I thought it was pretty obvious I was just making a light hearted comment trying to reflect my support. Maybe I just should've said "I" trust Rocket to make a good standalone game based on something he created in the first place. Thanks for your constructive feedback though.

    Increased threat posed by zombies...

Yeah, there is a video on the devblog showing the improved pathing. Its a definite and welcome improvement but pathing is only part of the problem. But I feel like i'm coming across as overly critical right now and it's too late for me to articulate any sort of coherent and constructive response. So I guess i'll just say - "IN ROCKET WE TRUST".
  8. Interesting ideas for sure, but this would involve some sort of XP based system. Whereas DayZ has always been built around a solely gear based reward system.

    Something cool for DayZ?

This would definitely be a nice addition to the game. But somewhere very far down the road - to many things still need working out right now and I would much rather have improved functionality and feel over some cool looking zombie skins.

    Increased threat posed by zombies...

Well I was under the impression they are now using a "modified" version of the Real Virtuality 3 engine. But whatever they are using, its clear from the footage we have seen so far that it is not the same engine we have all been used to. Or maybe it is and i'm just talking out of my ass. Regardless, perhaps the limitations we saw within the current form of DayZ aren't relate to the engine itself but rather the limitations from working within a simple mod? Iono

    Crafting Suggestions (no discussion)

Partially Armored Vehicle Input - Scrap x 10-30 and Vehicle (Intentionally high to raise difficulty level, especially when solo) Output - Semi-Armored vehicle (Semi meaning there are slots cut out of metal plates in order to see out and gaps in between the plates themselves) Tools - Tool kit or ideally a Welding torch (Presuming they are added) FailChance - 0 Enchantments -Enhanced vehicle protection ActionType - Blueprint

    Survivor/Hunger Games...

So just when I didn't think DayZ could get any better I saw this: To me this was literally one of the coolest thing I have ever seen (I ended up watching 5 different player videos for like 6 hours last night haha) and I am wondering how to get myself involved. I would literally pay $25 per game just to be able to participate in something like this. Anyone know where I can find more information about this?
  13. As we all know, there is a lot of lag/de-sync issues with the current Day Z mod (to be expected with a mod), not to mention all of the zombies glitches. Now as I said, this is all definitely to be expected with a mod BUT this is also the main reason I just simply couldnt play anymore. I found it indescribably frustrating not only trying to aim at a zombie glitching every which way, but that once I did get a clean shot off there was a solid 1 second delay before anything actually happened (same with player to player interactions). In my opinion, the ONLY thing needed to make the Day Z standalone a success would be to remove the zombie/other glitching (something no doubt they have already taken care of) and the gigantic de-sync/lag that occurs. If rocket and his team were able to accomplish this I dont know if I would play anything else but Day Z ever again. Because, to me, every time one of these issues occurs its not only frustrating, but it takes away from the most beneficial attribute any video game can have - to envelope you in a world so captivating that it temporarily makes you forget that it is only a video game. I imagine the surge of fear that comes from hearing the growl of a recently aggro'd zombie. You turn to face it AND....either he is running around like a semi-retarded chicken with its head cut off, bouncing through walls and not doing much, if anything, to genuinely threaten you....ORRRR....a flawlessly animated zombie bee-lining straight towards you, leaving only a split second to decide - shoot, or run. So please Rocket - fix the glitching and lag/de-sync issue and copy and paste the rest if you want. It won't matter. Do that and this game will forever be inscribed in the history books. Plus i'll be your best friend forever =) Just my 2 cents.

    Please, Please, PLEEEEASE...

What about player vs. player interactions? They are better than the zombies in the current mod but still have a long way to go. The current system reminds me of a very rudimentary game from the late 90s. Bang bang bang.......did I hit him?........oh yeah, there he goes. Or getting into a car - "click enter vehicle"......tap foot.....tap foot......tap foot....okay, i'm in. Seeing as this isn't a game just about zombies those sort of things are equally important and the de-sync/lag takes away from every aspect of the game IMO. Let me be clear - i'm not trying to hate on this mod/game at all. I'm so grateful for Rocket's creation I can't even express. I had been waiting for a game like this for well over 10 years, but to my dismay it had a lot of the issues found with many mods. Something that I just couldn't get over or write-off despite my love for the rest of the game. I'm just trying to get an idea of whether or not we can expect the same from the standalone. Or whether or not the lag/de-sync will be more akin to say Counter-Strike or even Battlefield (i'll take warping bullets over a 1 second delay).

Oh i'll DEFINITELY come join alpha - just as soon as I can afford my new rig. I literally think about this game on an hourly basis haha.
