None of the RV 3 games run on Linux, so its pretty safe to assume that DayZ Standalone won't as well. Anything is possible for the future, but I doubt they will devote any development resources to it for a long time.

I'm not seeing anywhere close to those prices for an i7, but I'll bite anyways. You are willing to spend about half the budget on just the CPU? For almost not tangible benefit whatsoever? Granted I only did a quick search, but the cheapest i7 I could find was barely under $300 and it didn't have the ability to be overclocked.

What the hell is going on in this thread? I seriously hope that you guys aren't giving other people advice, because the reality is you shouldn't be. No, there are better gpus for the money now. 550 ti was never really a good buy, even when it was new. What? Are they tri-channel CPUs? Hint: They aren't. What did I wake up this morning and its 2008? i7? For a budget build? You realize that the vast majority of games aren't even multi-threaded? Let alone take advantage of the HT that an i7 provides? Granted, that will change in the next generation but you will not need an i7 for gaming any time in the near future. To all of you. If you guys are giving advice to others, just stop. Wasting other people's money is one of the worst things you can do.

Bioware forums are the worst, but they can be a goldmine if you are looking for a laugh. I've seen some of the most ignorant posts short of YouTube on there, and they have some very draconian moderation if you have issues with their games.
