Hm. No. Haven´t heard of it. What I see from time to time is all objects form the object_data table are missing after restart. No vics, no tents, stashes and all. Sends a shock all over the server. Restarting ususally fixes this, but it´s quite annoying and I have no clue what may be causing this.
-
Yep, there are a lot of BattlEye filters missing in the current build. Lost track of what and how many as I add and correct them on the fly. What I noticed is a dramatic drop in players on my server. It was fairly maxed out in 1.8.1 and with 1.8.2 I have like 5-7 players. The truly dedicated players hop in TS and ask for help and the already "initiated" have to walk them through the rather simple process. People just don´t get how to do a proper update with Steam. It´s so sad.

I had a similar experience. I´m not aware of having pressed any buttons. I think it's automatic. But I could be wrong.

Yay! :beans:  :beans:  :beans:  :D

What are your thoughts about load balancing? I think a single server might not be able to cope with the flood of sql-statements coming in from loads of servers. There´s really A LOT of them, even on my 20-35ish slot server alone. :) I think that getting all the shit together is just a matter of time and some really dedicated people... but what about the costs?
-
I think the problem will be more on the technological and budget side... I don´t know about the performance requirements for such a massive MySQL DB cluster... so all I can do some educated guessing... what about pure CPU power, load balancers, maintenance, redundance, backups, professional manpower... running such a big DB for, lets say 20-80 peers to connect is not an easy task to accomplish. And who will pay? I´m sceptic, but I´d be happily proven wrong.

Has nothing to do with DayZ. It eliminates all crucial gameplay elements that make DayZ what it is. e.g. - constant shortage of resources - planing ahead your next five steps to be successful - relentless health system - having and maintaining a vehicle or even a chopper is a huge effort But people enjoy playing Overpoch, thats fine to me. They just shouldn´t say that they play DayZ, because they don't.

What kind of job is that? :|

I lolled, when I noticed the broken download-links. It´s like a reminder to all the shit the community has been going through over the last months. Well played, dear Sir, well played! :) :) :) And again, thanks for your efforts! I´ll fire this up, as soon as the links are fixed! btw... you can grab the files here: http://se1.dayz.nu/latest/1.8.2/

Really? I did not know that! Makes me happy in a way. On a second thought, someone had to pay for the PH and I don´t think that it was HFB themselves... moving such a big database from one server to another can be quite a hassle, so someone decided "Uuuuhm... no." But this is all speculation and I think we might never find out. Edit: aaaaand it´s totally off topic. ;)

Keep up the excellent work, R4Z0R49 and team! The community lies in your hands right now! We should all face the grim truth that the mod will lose grounds to Standalone sooner or later and might well recede into being a niche with few servers. (DayZ Vanilla, that is) Of cause this is just an educated guess but switching off the Public Hive may just be the first step. Maybe the running costs of the massive PH and turnover from Arma2 sales just didn´t cut the meat anymore. The hype is over, the market has been saturated for quite a time now. And I really hope to be proven wrong. Please.
-
Yeah, there are pros and cons to both public and private hive. Is there any statement on why Bohemia shut down the ph? Just because of the bucks?
-
Yep, true. Those 2-3 100 player private hives are totally dumbed down and have nothing to do with the original DayZ experience. Big time player slots don´t equal qualitiy.
-
Ah, there are many very good private Hives around. It's just a matter of finding them and getting connected with the folks there. If there are active admins, doing actual admin stuff and not interfering in the game, then you should be fine. As soon as there are donation perks involved you got to be careful. There are some private hives holding up to 100 player slots, which is pure insanity and brakes the game for me. I wonder how those admins pay for their machines. Donations, most likely, which is shite. Feel free to hop on our server. It's got more vehicles, sure, but only a handful of scripts running. So it's pretty much vanilla.
-
Not to talk about the Overpoch abomination that is superpopular right now.
-
Plus ARMA2 is a pretty decent game which is worth a look into it for itself.
-
Just scan the 4-5 posts above. It's a behaviour introduced by ARMA2 Beta Patch 1.63x and has nothing to do with DayZ. It's ARMA2.
-
Relax. - The exhaustion has nothing to do with DayZ. Zombies can be fast in this patch. I don´t complain, I adapt. - The next patch is in review by Bohemia. All you can do is wait. - I was referring to your gametracker sig. Cheers, have a nice one.
-
All you need is the client files "@DayZ". Put them in you Arma2 OA Folder and start the game with the proper parameters. Here you'll find some guidance... http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Mod:How_to_install_DayZ
-
Broken patch? Dunno what you´re talking about. My server is quite packed with players and although there are some bugs in the current version, no one is complaining and deals with it. I mean, you´re not even running on the latest Steam version, which is mandatory by now to get a decent server running... But, alas, don´t feed the troll *shrugs*

Clarification please... how do I play now?
taikonaut replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
See here... I wrote a short step by step guide. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/196778-dayz-mod-181/page-27#entry2060119 -
Yep! Hoorray!! Same with me. Finally the sleeper has awakened.

Prequesites 1. Update your DayZ Commander. 2. In the Settings, tick "Play using Steam" (or something similar, dunno by hard) 3. Open Steam - Game Library and right-click on Arma2 OA, --> Properties --> Beta --> Select "beta -" 4. On "Local Files", check your game files for inconsistencies 5. Close and restart Steam, Arma2 OA should now have [beta] behind it in the Game Library 6. Download and install the mod via Steam (search for "DayZ Mod", should be the first in the results) 7. Right-click as you did on Arma2 OA and join the beta for DayZ Mod as well (1.8.1) 8. Restart Steam. DayZ Mod in your Game Library should now have [1.8.1] Now you should be able to Connect via Steam: 1. Start the mod by double-clicking "DayZ Mod [1.8.1]" in your Game Library. 2. Have a server IP and port at hand... e.g. 178.77.65.159:2325 (my own server, shameless me) 3. Select Multiplayer --> Remote --> Enter IP and Port... Server should be listed now. 4. Join server by double-clicking it. Connect via DayZ Commander: 1. Just select a server, e.g. 178.77.65.159:2325 (my own server, again shameless me) 2. Pray that it works. DayZ Commander is a little buggy for me at the moment, although most people on my server connect via DayZCommander That´s all I have.

Hm. Why does anyone want to play Overpoch? :) Maybe a version conflict in either Overwatch, Epoch, DayZ Mod or Beta Patch. Or maybe just a f*cked up server. So many options.
-
Gamespy closed down business. Still, DayZ Commander provides serverlists. What´s up there? Seems like another brick in the giant version-confusion-steam-f*ckup. Anyone got info about this?
