  1. its a mufuggin experimental server. There have been many farts, but all in all I am impressed with some of the performance improvements.
  2. I obsessively work towards stuffing enough loot into my corpse for a squad of four for when the day comes.
  3. Let me start by saying there are far too many servers in DayZ. It simply makes it way too convenient for players to farm low pop servers (which isn't technically a problem) and hop servers to gear up quickly. From now on, short of any game breaking catastrophic problems, I will be exclusively playing Experimental. The competition for one free slot negates any subversive behavior and keeps everybody honest. Server hopping is simply impossible when all you have available is 3 full servers. Every complaint I have had about the game so far I have simply not had to deal with in the Experimental branch. Also, I get mad waves from people who could shoot me instead. So there's that going for it as well.
  4. I think combat logging and rage quitting are the very worst things about gaming today. It is just pathetic to watch someone take cheap shots until their plan goes to shit and then bail on the game.
  5. Awww thanks. Nawwww I'm not but I'm sure I must seem like one to you.
  6. If you are dumb enough to log in and out inside military buildings then you are most likely a server hopper. It isn't rocket science.
  7. Lol @ these low IQ replies. To reply #1 at what point did I say there should only be 3 DayZ servers? Also, are one million people playing right now? I can guess without checking that the number is closer to between 20-40k players. To reply #2 I would rather spam refresh for five minutes than waste three hours of my life playing legit just to get shot in the back by some ass clown hopping from server to server.
  8. My first life in Experimental branch started out pretty rough. I broke my legs in the woods and thought I'd be waiting for Stable or vying for a slot in the Hardcore servers. When I logged in again, my legs were fine and I started my great quest of SKS success. My route: Solnichniy>Dolina>Polana>Berezino>Polana>Gorka>Novy Sobor>Stary Sobor>Pogovo>Pogorevka>Green Mountain By the time I had arrived at Green Mountain, I still had barely enough supplies to keep myself from starving. I had only a wood axe to defend myself. Every town and city I came across had been ransacked. The constant struggle and disappointment was some of the best DayZ I have played in some time. I made my way to my Zelenogorsk to hopefully die in my favorite city in Chernarus. Again, fully looted. Just enough scraps to keep me looking. Not good enough to head north or south. The military base was the same story. Absolutely nothing. I would have given anything for a friendly face and a can of beans. Then, the game seemed to freeze and I was abruptly ejected into the server browser. Panicked, I raced to reclaim my slot. No servers were appearing in the browser. I went to History and jumped in as fast as I could. (I was really enjoying my game night!) When I spawned in, I was not where I had been when I crashed. Not usually good. I couldn't equip or open doors. After a few minutes, things finally returned to normal and I realized that the server had restarted. Overjoyed, I make my way back to the military base. The prison has no gun. Just some random crap. The first barracks has mostly bags and clothing. Super bummed, I open the second to last door in the second barracks. The first doors had contained literally nothing. On the bed is the SKS. Next to the SKS is a stack of 13 loose SKS bullets. In the very next room, a 20 box of SKS ammo. Praise the DayZ gods. Praise.

    Hard Hat

Can confirm hard hat is now lootable from garages. I have found a white one so far. Ballistic protection remains untested. EDIT: Experimental

New backpack! And it's fabulous ;-)

I found a green, blue and red low profile bag. I really like them.

Just had my best moment in DayZ so far

The SKS is my favorite gun in most games so this is a pretty big deal.

    KoS is acceptable for me.

The reason I find it generally acceptable is somewhat pragmatic. It's really just that standing around with some random idiot chatting in direct is a FANTASTIC way to wind up dead.

    No Surrender types

I go for the KO every time now. Something about my demeanor makes would be bandits think twice about keeping me around. I take it as a compliment, but it'd be nice to RP captivity at least once.

    2nd kill last night.

It's strange. I know exactly what you are talking about, but it doesn't happen to my heart rate every time I get in a fire fight. Usually only when I am preemptively KoSing like you did here.
  15. I am at the deer stand directly north of Dolina and southwest of a factory with broken legs. This is on experimental branch, which I would love to play a bit more. I can meet after 5pm EST. I do not have a gun.
  16. This isn't just for the vets...I am also asking newer players what they think they should focus on to improve. In my opinion, the most valuable skill I have learned during my time in Chernarus is how to buy time. This is the only way I have been able to overcome multiple threats during a sudden ambush. If you are alone and come into contact with a small team, what you do in the first second determines whether you will live or die. Killing one of them immediately is always the best option to improve your situation, but it isn't always the option that is available. Spraying away in their general direction will suppress them and buy you some time to consider your options and get to a better position. It also makes you look like a noob, and can cause your enemy to underestimate you. All you really need is time to neutralize the threat of multiple hostiles. A single player is far less dysfunctional than a rag tag squad of bandits and can coordinate better under pressure by creating confusion. Runner up: Patience

    Will Preventing Server-Hopping Increase Kos?

People really need to stop putting KOS players and server hoppers / loggers in the same bucket. KOS is not an exploit or a flaw in game design, however much you choose to cry about it.
  18. I love the variety of answers. Best thing about this game is you bring certain skills with you and learn the rest along the way.

Items you'd like to see on DayZ

Firecrackers or any fused explosives that can be used to create a diversion or distraction. Improvised rainwater collection devices.
  20. The 3PP vs. Hardcore argument has always bothered me, because 3PP players refuse to acknowledge the unfair advantages, and first person only types tend to be condescending and act like they are the only people who play the game properly at all. Out of the two groups, I must say that the first person only players are the worst because their attitude is "I know what's best for everyone" when it should be "this is how I prefer to play." After playing on the Hardcore experimental server today, I have decided to demand that the cheaty zoom be removed from Hardcore immediately and permanently. I see absolutely no reason why the first person players should get to be so full of salt while blatantly ignoring such a glaring fault in their blow hard, chest thumping Hardcore mentality. I am totally serious about this.
  21. I feel your pain. I have developed a potentially foolish habit of carrying two rifles.
  22. This mechanic has never had any effect on me whatsoever. If someone puts a shot on me, chances are they are good enough to kill me.
  23. Once upon a time in Solnichniy, a boy and a girl happened to cross paths. Like a story as old as time, the boy ignored the girl and the girl chased the boy west along the coast punching him in the back. About twenty five times she connected, but the boy was a former boxing champion and had a strong chin. After a long while running, the boy grew tired and gave up running. He turned around and threw a single quick jab, knocking the girl instantly unconscious. The girl drifted off into a hazy black dream, and her departing thought was of her own death. --- Many hours later, the girl awoke on the beach in the middle of the night. She was bleeding. The boy had not taken the girl's shirt, nor any of her few belongings. She tore her bloody shirt into some rags and patched herself up. Why had the boy let her live? She had tried to murder him with her bare hands. In her heart of hearts, she wanted his death more now than ever. Now she had a reason to want to kill him. Her head throbbed. Concussion? How much blood had she lost? No answers, only questions. --- The girl slept until sunrise and continued west towards Elektro. Along the way, she found some alcohol to treat her wounds and an old woodcutter's axe. It wasn't much, but it would do in a pinch. The first life she took belonged to a man in Elektro who was rifling through the fire station. She chopped him in the back and head with her axe as he fumbled to reach his own. His empty M4 carbine tumbled to the floor. She collected his belongings. There was a crate of ammunition for the rifle, but she would need to find magazines. The girl vowed revenge against the boy who had shown her mercy. She swore that going forward she would kill anyone she saw, in the name of the boy who left her to fend for herself in a lonely and hostile world. She looked down at the limp husk on the fire station floor. She admired the great work the boy had done in murdering this man with naught but his boundless sense of half-hearted idealism. The girl chambered a round into her pristine new M4, and got to moving on west. --- Balota Airfield sprawled before the girl, now clad in the bloody camo clothing of her prey. She had come from the high rise apartments north of Cherno, where she had rounded out her kit with plenty of food, some essential medical supplies and a much needed 30 round magazine for her new assault rifle. She had also found a pair of walkie talkies and some spare batteries which she now kept in a small protective case. The girl held onto the radios, but she knew not what for. They were more of a curio than an asset. After all, she had already decided to kill anyone she met. The girl made her way carefully through Balota along the treeline, and upon reaching the barracks she was just barely in time to observe the figure of an armed man walking inside. Taking care not to alert him, the girl positioned herself outside the building and waited for him to come back out. Before he knew what was happening, the man was perforated to an extent so disturbing any description would seem inadequate. The girl felt a rush of adrenaline. She felt happy, angry and scared all at the same time. This had not been the case with the first victim. Two bodies, she thought. Two deaths are now on the friendly boy and his fool's compassion. She took what she needed from what was left of the man, and did a quick sweep of the nearby buildings before she went north west into the trees. --- The girl found another military camp on her journey north. She had enough firepower now to last her many battles. But she had stopped finding people. Rummaging through the densely grouped houses of Zelenogorsk, she encountered only the undead fragments of once living humans. The girl could not bring herself to waste bullets on such things, and euthanized them efficiently with patience and an axe. Whatever the girl still needed, Zelenogorsk seemed happy to provide. She sat for awhile reading a book in an abandoned house. --- The girl's mind drifted uneasily between thoughts of the bloodshed to come and thoughts about the merciful boy. I wonder, she thought. What kind of life did he live? She retracted the bipod of her new Mosin Nagant, and rose from the tall grass at the edge of the treeline. She hoped that she would get a chance to shoot at some moving targets with her new, more powerful rifle. She wondered how she would fare against multiple threats. She wondered how many more people she would have to kill in the name of that stupid boy. I wonder...is he still out there? Will he kill me if we meet again? She started north again, and didn't look back. THE END (?) ---

The Story Of Friendly Boy And Kos Girl

Here she is, fellas... She's quite a catch, if you've got what it takes. Not to be underestimated.
