Thanks for the great info everyone, I'll look in to that when I get a chance and check it out.

What makes something a "private hive"? Does this refer to invite only, paying money, etc? I'm not familiar with this term. And if the vanilla server is a reasonable choice to start on to learn the game, what sort of stuff would I be adding to the base experience if I did go with a better protected private hive? I want to play on the base map and everything w/o too much stuff added, I'm mostly just concerned with cheats and such. Thanks for the responses.
  3. Hello everyone, just hopping on here to hopefully get a question answered before I join you all in this dayz experience. I've been watching a lot of videos and such about the game in passing, before actually playing any, and my impression is that hacking is very easy/prevalent due to the nature of data stored client-side. Is there anything I can do to improve my experience in this regard? Specifically, are there certain servers that are less prone to hackers? Better server-side detection, some sort of punkbuster system, more strict rules, etc? I know nothing about what rules / modes / options the servers for this game can even have, but I'm looking for a fair and legit experience and I'd like to find a nice server with little to no hackers to start out and play regularly on. So, any tips or advice for a brand new player in regards to this? Thanks in advance for the input.
