  1. Hmm, the game might become more peaceful in the Standalone if the end-game is much less accessible than it was in the mod. In other words, all you had to do to achieve end-game in the mod was to either kill a geared opponent or to find some great loot in the north(exception is fixing a helicopter), both of which facilitates PvP. If there are more ways to progress in the game that don't necessarily present murder as the fastest course( like fixing a helicopter!), then the game would surely become more peaceful - and remain so.
  2. but bro, fire is not substantially hotter than a hot stove and the quality of the burn is only four times the quality instead of five times the quality. Get your facts straight.
  3. Yeah, Minecraft in Alpha didn't look so much different from it's actual release. Sadly, this is not Minecraft, and people don't know what the hell to expect.
  4. That's exactly my problem as well, makes it REALLY easy for experienced campers to get kills, and loot, as a result. Maybe third person view should zoom in closer to the character model when it's obvious that he couldn't possibly see anything from first person(i.e. staring at a wall or a bush). I realize that would make third person useless in close quarters, but that's good, you shouldn't use third person anywhere but in the open field. First person in CQB all the way.
  5. Reason why third person mode exists is because it's the closest thing you can get of a 180 degree view. First person only gives you 90 degrees, it's not what we see in real life - which is about 160 degrees. My only gripe with third person view is that you can peek around corners with it, unnoticed. In other words - your character could be facing the wall completely while you, the player, can see a bit around the edge. I think that's overpowered, especially in a survival mmo/fps.
  6. Nothing to be alarmed about, just a common troll stirring things up.
  7. Yeah, well, people usually don't say sarcastic things seriously anyways. Oh well, have fun trolling.
  8. Yes, everyone posting here is actually Dean Hall under the shroud of many alias accounts. So, if nobody's opinion matters here, according to you, because we're all under alias accounts - why post YOUR opinion at all?
  9. ... and the trolling continues. Iama feed him more. Well, it's obviously not clear when so many people seem to disagree with you, no? Are you the only enlightened one of the bunch? Are you the messiah?
  10. Oh, looky there, we have a semi-intelligent troll that can't be rid with just reason. Can we not just agree to disagree; because obviously, you are conscious of the fact that almost everyone here would disagree with you. Why keep posting if that will end in nothing but a waste of posting space, drama and emotion? You came knowing that nobody here shares your opinions, and you continue to post your shit. What the hell would that accomplish?
  11. Please tell me honestly, are you trolling for fun? Or you truly have nothing to distract you in life so you resort to taking extreme points of view that oppose everybody else's with almost nothing but vague interpretations of quotes to back it up?
  12. I share your sentiment, TurkishMonkey. Yet, instead I'd prefer for Dean to simply do what's right and back his actions with reason. Most of the people are not smart, there is nothing much to be done about that, but I'd much rather have him keep contact with us and stand strong, instead of hiding, whenever dumb shit arises as a result of people's incompetence or complete idiocy. Dean's idea of developer transparency in gaming is a good one, this is just one of the challenges that comes with it.
  13. Yes, it will not substantially improve from it's perfectly functional state which is coming in Alpha. Dean has artists working on the Inventory UI right now which will look decent and function well in the Alpha - what more could you want in a game that's rich in concept and not in pointless flashy graphics or arcade gameplay?
  14. It really saddens me that Dean Hall's attempt to be more open and communicative have been met by the people's need to thoughtlessly release their emotions over BI's work with no regard to their efforts nor the amazing and ambitious goals they're trying to achieve. Dean clearly stated that the Alpha is meant to test the game's functionality, not provide the best experience off the bat - yet people still find the need to repeat the same blatant and obvious shit over and over, "blah blah, this doesn't have the look of AAA games, blah blah this looks unfinished." As if no one is conscious of that already. I am sure Dean is used to that already, he is seemingly comfortable responding to trolls like Rhinocrunch for the sake of need to communicate with no merit or sign of intelligence from the other side. I can't share in that sentiment and find this very off-putting at best.
