  1. I'm not sure why people continually say that SA was made from scratch. Does that mean with every new Call of Duty game was made from scratch too?
  2. I'll be sure to leave a link to this post in my suicide note.
  3. Yes, I would be so heartbroken that I'd probably put a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger.
  4. Fixed that for you. No need to thank me.

Dean is rounding up SA client for release

Anyone that is getting their hopes up for the SA release next month will surely be disappointed. Remember, Rocket's definition of "soon" is very different from the true definition.
  6. Yep. Just like I said in another post, Rocket will say that the network bubble was completed but they still don't think the performance is up to par. The new zombie AI will have to be completed to further increase the performance. After that is completed, I'm sure there will be something else that will need to be fixed before the alpha releases. Eventually, he will forgo the alpha release all together and say they decided to just wait and release the fully completed game.
  7. Isn't the player base of the mod the majority of the people that will be purchasing SA? You could say some of them stopped playing the mod to wait for SA but you don't really know that.
  8. The mod is definitely losing players. SteamGraph shows a pretty constant decline in peak players since February.

Why We Need A Release Date

That is what the alpha is going to be anyway... and the full release is going to still be a "Chernarus Deathmatch"
  10. Not a chance. We will get a devblog at some point during the first few days of October where Rocket will say they completed the network bubble but the performance still isn't up to par so the next thing holding the alpha back will be the completion of the new zombie AI.

DayZ Developer Blog 7th September 2013

Anyone who has even remotely followed the development of this game knows that there is no way a release in one month is a "worse case" scenario.
  12. I'm assuming you mean alpha in January/February? Sounds about right... Full release probably not until 2015.
  13. You're telling me that after over a month of talking about this "network bubble" that they haven't even started on it yet? Gotta love them priorities...
  14. Obviously, neither of us know for sure but as far as I know, prior to them deciding to move to the MMO architecture, they were stripping things out of the engine that weren't needed as well as working on Chernarus+ so to say they scrapped everything would be a misconception. I'm sure at the same time they were probably working on tons of art assets as well. The same Arma 2 engine they were stripping code out of was used when they worked on adding the MMO architecture as well as adding some of the improvements from TOH and Arma 3. This is why I say they have been working on it for a year. Prepare for the old "take as long as you want Rocket" comments. I got tons of hate on Reddit when I said Rocket should just give up if he can't get the alpha out before the end of the year.
  15. Actually, they've been working on it for about a year. I think it is pretty sad they don't have the alpha out by now but I'm beginning to think the reason we don't is because Rocket isn't doing a very good job of prioritizing things. He has this proposed list of things he wants to put in the game but instead of working on improving the stuff from the mod, they add new stuff. And here we are, after a year, the one glaring issue from the mod still exists in the SA. Horrible zombie AI that gets stuck on things, zig zags, and runs through walls.
  16. I wouldn't say that. Rocket seems to want to turn DayZ SA into a micromanaging clusterfuck where everything you pickup will have to be disinfected or risk being infected with a disease. Caught a disease? You can't just cure it with antibiotics, you need 2-3 different types of antibiotics. Need blood? Hope you have some transfusion kits and someone with the same blood type as you that is willing to give you blood. After hours of scourging supplies, chances are you'll be killed immediately by another player who spots you. Some people may find this 'authentic' experience fun but I think you will find the majority will not enjoy it.

Yes. The whole idea of the alpha is to have the basic foundation of the game in place before adding countless other features. Zombies, in my opinion, are part of the basic foundation.
  18. I can't wait to find glitches and use my aimbot in SA!

You're right. In fact, I think DayZ SA is going to be even more of a PVP cluster fuck than the mod. All the extra micromanaged crap will do is make people KOS more often. Add in the fact that DayZ SA servers could have a capacity of up to 150 players makes it even worse.

Rust uses pretty much that exact same thing and I don't think they have any problems...

I think it was pretty obvious that he didn't even want to do the last dev blog and only did it at the last minute because he saw all the hate he got for once again recanting on something he previously said.

All that can be done. The sniper rifles in BF3 have bullet drop and the aimbots have no problem calculating to compensate for it.

    Where are all the devblogs?

I fished and got you information so go fuck yourself :)

    Where are all the devblogs?

So I take it your "internal milestone review" must not have gone well. I can't see a dev blog taking so long that you had to stay at work all night long.
