And I understand that DayZ has made them a lot of money. Just like popular mods such as Fall From Heaven and Rhye's and Fall of Civilization did for Civilization 4, Magna Mundi did for Europa Universalis 3, and Pop Demand Mod have done for Victoria 2(among numerous others). In fact, some of those examples and many others also include the game developer contracting with the mod designers(I know this isn't exactly the same as this case but it's close enough). And yet, none of that changes the fact that you didn't pay for the mod, you paid for the game. I am among the many who bought Arma 2 just for DayZ, but I'm still not going to sit here and say I deserve fucking anything from Rocket because whether he works for BIS or not, he's still making a mod independently and I still didn't pay jackshit for this mod. In fact, I've grown to enjoy Arma 2 without DayZ and I am glad that I actually paid for that. And we deserve community attention, patches, and the upholding of promises from BIS on Arma 2(which they've come through on on all accounts). But nothing from Rocket on DayZ. Whatever he gives us, we should be thankful for.

I just died when three zombies spawned next to me, immediately attacked(I was prone and watched them spawn), broke my legs and knocked me unconscious on the first hit(~11000 blood), and then preceded to eat me until I woke up at 4000 blood and during the waking up animation(While I'm mashing the shoot button to try and get them), I go unconscious again. I never had a chance. The balance problem isn't with the start of the game, it's with the zombies. I want them to be hard but I also want it to be semi-reasonable. Zombies should not spawn within 2 meters of you, that's a real balance problem.
  3. Banditry is not a bad thing and making survivor-only servers would be dumb because literally everybody would use the survivor-only servers to gear up, including bandits. But yeah, it is at the point where it needs to be toned down somehow. Just no one has come up with a reasonable way yet.

  5. This is an Arma game base map. He didn't make the map for the mod. However, he has stated that DayZ is modular and that "making it work on another map would only take a few hours of work". That said, I've never seen any indication that he plans on actually porting it to any of the other Arma maps. He definitely wouldn't, and shouldn't, until we're well in to or past the beta stages. So adding cities on the Chernarus map? Incredibly unlikely. Eventually porting it to another map? It's a possibility in the far future.

  7. No, the night is not this dark in real life. I grew up in very rural Missouri(the closest neighbor was over a mile away and the closest town about 25 miles). There is no light pollution and our land is mostly forest. Still, I could see even in the deep forest in the middle of the night with a little bit of time to adjust my eyes. Ride a 4 wheeler 2-3 miles down in to a forest, turn the 4 wheeler and all its lights off, and give it 5 minutes. You won't see well, but you'd be able to navigate. The simple fact is, it's not that dark in real life. I want the night to be dark because I want flares to have relevance, but the simple fact is that it IS really too dark. Just a little bump would be fine. You shouldn't be able to see really, but you should be able to navigate a little bit.

    Being in CQF, I stay on the CQF servers lol
