  1. I think it lends an interesting look at a potential direction for the mod - that zombie-concentrated areas can simply never be entirely cleared. Maybe it would be more interesting if it was flat-out impossible(or maybe just very improbable) to hold a city the way we can now. Maybe instead' date=' towns are only worth entering as smash-and-grabs; get what you need, get out, make sure you have a plan the entire way. Most of the upset about the zombie numbers lies in how people are used to hunkering down until the zombies stop coming, rather than trying to make an opening to escape.

    I like this.

  2. I think a stand alone one time purchase would be cool. But a DLC would be just as good for me. A DLC would also provide promotion for ArmA and vice versa, possibly growing the community even more than just a stand alone.

If its a pay for DLC for ArmA 3, I would want to make sure the right people get the money, i.e. Rocket and any other developers.

I think community based servers are the way to go. Think of the overhead and future costs of having studio servers. If cross-server characters are going to be a key feature, I'm sure a studio server would be the best option.

What happens in a couple years when something new comes along, DayZ isn't as popular and a bunch of my friends and I want to play DayZ? With studio servers, if the studio goes under, or the developers decide to move on to another project or whatever, the servers are no longer being run. Then what?

  3. ACRE presents only two problems.

Firstly' date=' the barrier to people installing it. People might find that a bit complex.

DayZ needs to move over to an addon manager like Six Updater. While this still poses the problem of having people install something, after the initial install ACRE, ArmA and DayZ can be updated at will by the dev's, and the players set it up so each time they launch Six, it checks for updates.

  4. Great job Rocket. Glad you have the knowledge you do about coding.

And that's why I like independent "developers" more. They actually deal with hackers and give them the proper treatment.

Because if the big time cash-cow developers started doing this, they wouldn't make any money, and you wouldn't have anyone to play with.

  5. I play once every two days or so for only about a hour (one or two 'stints' of eating+drinking) and this is something that happens to me every time I play.

Just make sure you log off WITH food and water. Think of it was you are just sleeping or holding out for a while. The only thing that bugs me is eating/drinking, then getting disconnected, only to come and be starving/thirsty and the food/water I just consumed is gone.

  6. I think loot respawn has been 5 minutes since the beginning. I noticed you can just make loops through a city like Elektro. Or even running from the docks, north to the bank or power station, then south to the docks again, everything will have re spawned.

I feel it should be a bit longer. I would try increasing the timer to 20 minutes. If you come across an empty building-tough shit. Even with 50 players, I don't run into many people except at high value loot areas like cites, airstrips and military bases, and people always seem to have TONS of high end gear which I almost never find because I don't game it up and loot the same place every 5 minutes.

  7. Usually the Jump trick works. The other trick I found in DayZ (happend to me from logging back in once when I logged off in a building) is to go to the outside wall, lay down and crawl as much into the corner as possible, then reslot and rejoin. This might take a couple tries, it seems to work consistently for me if jumping did not.

  8. Get rid of them for the time being. They are too broken ATM to be beneficial.

A week ago i accidentally killed a friend when a few of us were swarmed in a pitch black night. Since then I have died and re spawned a few times and am still a bandit. Its a headache to try to explain to people that I'm not a 'bad' bandit and constantly get shot at and murdered. Noone wants to team up ect.... That is game breaking as far as I'm concerned.
