    Potential source material

I'm not sure if this should be in here or in the suggestions thread, so I please forgive the double post. I found some great photos that might make good source material for the game devs. They look like they came straight out of Chernarus. Hopefully someone finds this useful. Cheers. http://www.pyromasse.ca/articles/watd_e.html

I'm a total noob, so please forgive the question, but how do I use a spoiler tag?

    DayZ Fan Art Thread

Thanks! I've been doing these for a while just for kicks. I didn't realize there was anywhere I could post them. I got a bunch, but I'll leave it at these two for now so I don't spam. Cheers. Thom

Pay a development company to make DAYZ

    I'm thinking June-July open alpha. This is where I got that notion: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1f55yj/rocket_regarding_release_date_of_sa/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/22/dayz-standalone-alpha-june/ http://www.cinemablend.com/games/DayZ-Standalone-Public-Alpha-Release-Set-June-55098.html http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/14957/article/dayz-pricing-model-explained-by-creator/

    Auto-Walk Key

I'm sure you'll be right in the context of the SA, but in it's current form, the game requires a lot of running through lonely areas of countryside. Maybe it breaks the immersion if you see someone auto-running into a wall while AFK, but personally I think its worth it.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

Sure, I get it, and I agree about the .50 cals. I know that many countries have very rigid gun laws, especially in Europe and the UK. Still, there are many areas of the world where firearms are quite common. A short list off the top off my head follows: North and South America, Africa, Russia, the Middle East, and the greater part of Central Asia as well as South East Asia. So, I can certainly appreciate your side of it, I just got irritated when that other fella started to 'murrica me when he was actually the incorrect one. Anyway, take out the .50 cals, leave in civilian variants, that's my opinion. Cheers. Thom

What should our next competition be?

We should compete on who can fabricate the best zombie slaying weapon from everyday items. Submissions can be either ranged or melee, but must be easily assembled without specialized knowledge. Fabrication and assembly time is a maximum of 48 hours to accommodate glue drying times etc. Entries should include photos, and detailed instructions. Videos are a plus. Entries will be judged on originality, practicality, lethality, and stealth. There's the basic idea. I'm sure some of these other guys could improve on it. Cheers, Thom
  12. If it doesn't effect performance, it would add to the realism, though I'd skip any nudity to smooth things over with the ESRB.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

Three separate armed factions in one small region, this fact alone guarantee's an above average amount of firearms in the area.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

Well that's a pretty prejudiced statement. It seems to me like there are always scoped rifles around. People use them for hunting, and they are often passed down to following generations. I think you're the one who's uninformed on the global dissemination of firearms. Incidentally, I'm very proud to be an American, and I don't need your external approval.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

Rotary winged aircraft require a lot of maintenance, so I'm OK with no choppers. I'm also fine with taking out the anti-material sniper rifles. Removing all sniper rifles is unrealistic though. There are probably 300 scoped rifles of various calibers within a mile of my house right now. Some of them may even be pretty large. For example, several of my friends have deer rifle's chambered in 300 Win Mag. Below is a photo for a quick reference.
  16. I like it. There are possible snags for implementation, but I think some form of persistent identity would be worth the effort. Also, you do a nice job substantiating your argument. I definitely want something like this in the SA.
  17. Personally, I'd like the whole idea of different skins to be taken out of the SA. I'd much rather see people choosing there own styles. I think this is what Rocket and crew are shooting for by generating so many different wearable items. This should give people the chance to express their individual tastes, and its one of the things I'm excited for in the SA. In short, I think your suggestion would be better implemented in the current DayZ mod than in the SA. At least, I hope so. Nice bandit skin though. I think he looks pretty cool
  18. Suggestion I think it would be great to see snares/traps for catching animals or fish. It would make a lot of sense in the survival context. Actively hunting is usually much less successful than trapping, especially with fish. For this reason, people surviving in the wild for extended periods are often forced to use traps. Otherwise they don't have time to make things, build fires, create shelters etc. I would expect that most people could work out a decent method given enough time. Possible Implementation The trap would be a placeable loot box with a selected set of loot tables based on the type of trap constructed. Time elapsed from the setting and harvesting of the trap could effect the loot. Trap placement could effect the loot. Other players can raid your traps. Associated Possibility Trapping skill or hidden mechanic that increases with practice. Cheers, Thom

    Suggestion: Hunting Snares and Traps

I was going to include the idea of booby traps for PvP, but I figured that it had probably already been beaten to death. I'd be perfectly satisfied if it just helped in collecting food. At any rate, I think it would be pretty fun to build and set the traps. It could add more depth to the game. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Thom

    Auto-Walk Key

Any game that routinely forces you to move several hundred meters in one direction should have an auto-run. Anyone that's ever had to run from Kamenka to NWAF would probably agree. I also use the shift-tab trick, but an auto-run key would make things easier. People will continue to create work arounds, so why not go ahead and include it?

Pay a development company to make DAYZ

Why would they change engines when they're nearly finished? That makes no sense. "Hey guys, I know you're almost done, but why not start over from scratch?" You've got to be trolling.
