Charging people money to help you "make" a game....

Personally, I would have paid more than $30 to play the alpha. When I first stumbled upon a DayZ video on YouTube in May of 2012, I immediately bought ARMA 2 to play the mod. It was a buggy mess, but I loved it. Same with standalone. Found out it was released, immediately bought it. No regrets. Is it a buggy mess? Sure. Am I loving it and glad to be a part of its development? Absolutely. Now I just gotta figure out the bug reporting tool. First order of business when I get home from work. Anyone who bought the alpha expecting a smooth, stable game with most or all of its features just didn't pay attention to anything anyone has said about it.

Are There Only 3 Guns On 1st Release?

So how do you use them? If I try to drag them and load them into the rifle I get an error that they don't fit. If I try to split them, it tells me I don't have enough. What am I doing wrong?

Are There Only 3 Guns On 1st Release?

I just wish there was a way to load the 7.62 20-round magazines I have been finding into the Mosin.

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

    Yes, remove them.

How much would YOU pay for DayZ standalone and Why?

Not sure why people are posting prices for alpha and beta access. If this is used to help development, and those costs go towards the cost of the final product, fine. But if you have to buy access individually, making the cost stack, then I will wait for the final release and not pay anything higher than $60.

    Wait for host?

I will try the fix posted, but I have noticed that I am only able to join servers running the same beta version I am.

    MP5SD mags convertable to M9SD and vice-versa

    Ok...

    MP5SD mags convertable to M9SD and vice-versa

Which is why Beretta specifically designed the M9 to fire the 9x19mm Parabellum NATO round that is used by the MP5. So that ammo could be freely switched between the two weapons for military personnel. Other variants of the MP5 are made (10mm and .40 S&W), but the 9mm variant fires the same ammo used by the M9.

    MP5SD mags convertable to M9SD and vice-versa

Perhaps you should actually read what I said. In the game, there is no difference between SD weapons and their non-SD counterparts.

    CryEngine 3 - Possible?

No. Crytek is the company that owns Cryengine, and it is fully independent of EA. They use EA as a publisher for some of their games, but they also use other publishers as well (Microsoft, THQ, to name a couple). What Crytek charges to use their engine, I have no idea. I know they released a SDK that I could download and start making stuff, but I have no idea if they require a percentage of my profits if I start making money off something I create in their engine. I would imagine so, but I don't know any specifics.

    MP5SD mags convertable to M9SD and vice-versa

You are 100% correct. Even further - in the game, SD weapons do not do less damage than their non-SD counterparts, and they both have the same effective range, which means that the ammo, is actually all the same velocity. So the magazines should be interchangeable between the weapons. M9 <> M9SD and MP5 <> MP5SD, and the ammo should be interchangeable between everything. Also, regarding the capability to convert .45 ACP to M1911, the revolver only uses 6 shots. Not only does converting .45 ACP to M1911 seemingly produce a 1911 magazine out of thin air, it also generates a 7th round to fill the mag.

How to fix D/Cers. For real.

I don't understand. It seems that you WANT character retainment post-disconnect every time. If I am logging out for the time being, regardless of my location, I don't want to log out not knowing whether my character will survive the retainment. Wouldn't it be better to have a disconnect timer? You click disconnect, a timer pops up, and during the countdown you still have full character control. When the timer is up, you disconnect and your character disappears. Character retainment should only occur when alt+f4 is used, or when connectivity to the server is suddenly lost - such as power outage, computer failure, or intentional means such as unplugging a network device (modem, router) or disconnecting ethernet cable. If you are saying you want character retainment post-disconnect every time, why? What is wrong with what I am suggesting?

Which is why it should not be: 1 disconnect 2 character remains after you are gone for 10 seconds. What it should be: 1 click disconnect 2 countdown appears 3 after countdown, then you actually disconnect and character disappears Character retainment should only occur when you alt+f4 out, or lose connectivity to server (intentional or unintentional).

EvE Online does it. If you disconnect while flying around space, your ship warps off to a random point in the system and sits there for a minute or two. If you disconnect while in combat - in which case there is an aggression timer of 15 minutes on you - your ship warps off to a random point in the system and sits there until the aggression timer runs out. It would not be hard at all to retain characters in game for a short time after someone has alt+f4 out or lost connectivity to the server (intentional or unintentional).

Meh, unless you have a really bad connection in general, this will be a rare occurrence for the average player. DCing is a major problem in DayZ at the moment. The number of people disconnecting to save their equipment, or to keep you from getting it, far outweighs people playing honorably and accepting their deaths or fighting back. It needs to be resolved, and if that means there is a 10 or 20 second countdown to disconnect (what it really should be. 10 seconds is too short, IMO), then so be it. And the rare moments that you lose connectivity due to power or internet loss, you deal with the possibility your character dies. Sucks, but thats the risk/sacrifice that is made to ensure that people who DC get punished. But I don't agree with everyone saying that if you go to log out, that you log out, but your character remains uncontrollable for 10 or 20 seconds. You click disconnect, and a countdown appears. You are still in full control of your character, and when it hits zero, then you disconnect. The retaining of a character after you have already disconnected should only occur if you alt+f4 out. Yes, players that lose connectivity through no fault of their own - loss of power or internet access - would still be affected by it, but so what? It's worth it to give every incentive not to do DC or alt+f4 on people.
