The first time I saw a czech vest pouch, I thought "HELL YEAH!" because, isn't a vest pouch ment to go on the front? I thought it was going to extend my main inventory, not swap out my backpack (which was well back in the day so lost normal backpack of course) So yeah, how about changing vest pouch to actually be, you know, on your chest....

I love the idea of players becoming zombies, but I'd like to see it more hardcore than that. I -would- like to see you turn into a mindless zombie AI. Think about it, there is the infection mechanic already in game. Modify this slightly so that blood doesn't cap, but just keep dropping. This forces an insatiable "hunger", if you're not constantly eating meat, you're fucked. And if you hit 0 blood while infected after being unable to find antibiotics, you do turn into a zombie AI. I know this is already possible in the engine, I've seen scripters apply soldier AI to live players. No respawn button, only thing to get you back in game is being killed as a zombie. All you can do is watch and wait, ultimate penance for dying. If any degree of control is given to the player, its should be just to "guide" the zombie in a general direction, like the jockey controls players in L4D. This being limited to the infection mechanic will make it rather rare, which in turn makes it a more feared turn of events. It should hardly happen ever, but when it does, it should be devastating. Things need to be scarier in DayZ. Succumbing to the infection should be rancid panic. And what would any zombie survival story be without a close friend turning into one of the infected?

This would be fine and logical IF everyone actually were testers. I'd be willing to bet 90% of the player base aren't "testing" just playing for their own enjoyment.

Why wouldn't you be following twitter as well as checking the forums if you were so anxious for a fix? I just happened to come across the announcement (missed it on twitter actually) because I just got home, checked out a couple of streams to put on, and its all over the chat rooms. Same thing happens for the patches too. -

I remember reading that the DayZ code back at 1.6.0 worked with builds of Arma 3, albeit with glitches of course lol. When I think about it, its a really smart development cycle. They're already working on the gameplay with the current DayZ mod, and now they get to design and iron out the kinks for the new standalone alpha engine while still evolving gameplay. -

Okay, so as far as I'm aware Bohemia designed their base engine (Real Virtuality) for a Military audience. So they probably never bothered in the first place designing any sort of protection in the engine, going for a trusted client type setup instead. I imagine there was some kind of anti-cheat hacked in when they went to sell it to a multiplayer audience. So that would explain why its so easy for these hackers (and subsequent script-kiddies) to do anything they want. It was made that way, they wanted it that way. Now that rocket has access to the source code of which ever engine, being a project lead he gets to do anything he wants to the code. Its standalone. Now he not just modding, he gets to dive into the heart of his favourite engine's code. I can't wait to see what happens in the next few months. It may be a slow start, but once the ball is rolling.. Watchout WarZ. -
Okay, a while ago I suggested no respawn button. Can't believe I actually predicted this one. It's going to make things more fun :] But in light of the uproar surrounding its inception I can't help but think that some hasty things might occur to "fix" what it broke. I read that Rocket doesn't like the idea of choosing spawn location. Good. Either do I, but if this was the route chosen I suggest instead of choosing pinpoint locations, choose either South or East coast and be randomly spawned somewhere along that coastline. Also read he is looking into group spawns later on, and for this I suggest that the server choose a random location for everyone to spawn once every minute or 5 mins( or whatever works best). So respawn timer is ticking down in lobby, everyone who logs in within this timer spawns their new character at randomly chosen Kamenka. Timer reaches 0, server chooses new location, timer starts again, now everyone who joins spawns at Solnichniy. TL;DR No respawn? Good. If forced, compromises. Choose either South or East coast to spawn. Or "group" spawning. Spawn location is same for everyone, changing randomly every [T] minutes.

Don't entertain these "hackers". They want to see everyone shooting each other. Either don't shoot, or just abort. By killing other players you're just catering to these kids and giving them exactly what they want. Spread the word, the best way to deal with this "thunderdome" crap is give them nothing.

You are taking that post out of context. He is saying what abilities admins have at their disposal. Not what they are allowed to use. You need to read the agreement for when you signed up for access. -

Get over yourself. If you were paying attention, the server reporting sub-section only just came up recently. And all your "admin abuse" reports are being moved to it. If reports are ending up in here, its the failure of the OP. But, in all seriousness, perhaps you could stand to recruit a few more moderators to lessen the burden on yourselves. -
You'd be better moving this over to the Bohemia forums because the DayZ team (afaik) don't yet have access to the Arma source code. BiS would be the only ones who could make a Linux dedicated server.

I thought it was 1600m, but yeah changing your view/draw distance in DayZ doesn't do anything because servers are locked at somewhere between 1100-1600m. This may change, but I imagine its going to stay locked for now because there are too many variables in fps rate as it is.

A mate says, "wouldn't that make random teams and noobs spawn together?", I say "Yep, part of the point." Adds another level of gameplay. Is that guy sitting in the lobby waiting for me to log in? If I log in now, is he going to try to log in next to me? I'll wait for him to log in, then I'll join on the next timer. or Oh man, I don't want to do this on my own, I'll wait for someone to log in and I'll join them and try to work a team. You gotta admit, its got potential. -

Being passive of the matter doesn't help at all as well. It is better these things are open in a public forum so that those searching for a home are able to research and find dodgy clan servers like this., There's another bleedingly obvious observation... Notice the overwhelming majority of the calls of "admin abuse" are coming from servers run by clans? Can they not handle the peer-pressure of their clanmates to not do the right thing? -
