Bohemia owns the rights to the game. All it says at the bottom is 'Created by Dean Hall'. That stinks of a buyout deal. My guess is the deal was based on the success of 250k sales, as Dean had mentioned, and not a percentage of the profits.

The question shouldn't be about why Dean leaving. We really should be asking what kind of buyout deal Dean made with Bohemia, and when. Was it a rounded number based on projected sales, and what they thought would be a success, prior to release? Or did Dean do the smart thing like Toby McGuire on Spiderman, and ask for a percentage of the profits? You can see that Bohemia now owns DayZ. But he didn't sell it off without getting some top billing for himself at the bottom of the game menu - "Created By Dean Hall" You see, Toby McGuire took a pay cut on the first Spiderman, but not without asking for a 17% of the all profits from the movie first. It turned out Toby became a very rich man later. I would hope and pray that Dean made the same kind of deal. Dean mentioned that they projected 250k copies of the game sold would be considered successful. It would be really sad to find out Dean took a buyout based on projected successful sales prior to release.

From a PR perspective, he really should have waited to tell the community. It should have been something that just happened overnight later down the road. As it really puts a damper on those who love DayZ. It`s better to burn out, than to fade away.

It was ruined, but at the time I wasn't thinking right. In fact, I was shaking for a good 20 minutes after I logged off. My girifriend and I made eggo waffles with sliced bananas and maple syrup. I had to force it down over the adrenaline hangover that made me feel sick. I looked for something around 9 mins long and found that on Incompetech. It amazed me how everything synced. I didn't even realize that my first gunshot synced perfectly with the music until watching it a couple times. I couldn't believe it! I have to agree the end was anti-climactic, yet still tense. I thought I was going to be dealing with a crew outside. I let the video play out because I wanted to show people that I didn't just combat log. Plus, getting out of there and to safety was a problem in itself in my blurry state.

My current note says: "What do you put in a barrel to make it lighter?"

I just love to play video games and post the footage. I've been very casual about it for many years. My first video was a Land of the Dead video in 2007. A couple years later, I posted a scene from the movie "Hard Boiled": which subsequently went viral one day and now has over a million views. Most of my subscribers are from video game players over the years from my random vids I have put up. I was lucky enough to get partnered two years ago and haven't known what to do with it since then. I mostly post personal things like my spoken word, and I think I have a vampire movie that I did as a practicum. I never really worried about subscribers or holding onto viewers. I just post the things I love, and be who I am. This DayZ series is my first real series I have done, It's not going to be for everyone, but I'm not going to change just for more viewers. Also, if any video gets flagged, I can always dispute it and put an age filter/mature warning on said video. I do appreciate your commentary on the whole thing though. I'm very jaded from being a performer for many years. So I'm always adapting rather than feeling bad about things people have said.
