    CCSD, Investigation request.

I can confirm this has happened to my friend and I at those coordinates. Twice! It seems to happen when you're coming from the south from Shakhovka and head around that steep curve right at the misc_feedshack. Exact coordinates here: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#7.092.076 Now, some further info. I did catch it on camera. Yet, I record at full 1080p with Mirillis, and a 50gb file with nothing but a random zombie horde attack in the woods wasn't worthy of staying on the hard drive. I did keep it for a week before deleting while I went and tested that same spot again. Sure enough, there was another attack. In the first attack, we encountered seven zombies. Four of them were military. In the second attack, we encountered 5 or 6, and half of them were military as well. Some history: I used to take that path all the time when I was first learning the mod. Shak to Gorka to Alter to Grishino - It's really a great route to take to NWAF. I figured I would stick to my guns with the Standalone and follow the same path. I don't take it anymore though. Unless I'm armed and healthy. I'm not making this shit up! TLDR; I can confirm there is an anomaly at the misc_feedshack in the black forest. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#7.092.076 - You will be attacked by a horde of zombies if you visit there. Have fun!

where did the private hives go?

What most likely happened was you played on a server where the admin simply changed the name and put 'Private' in the title. As of now, all servers are running off the central hives. One hive for Regular and one hive for Hardcore. Private hives were the worst thing to happen to the mod. Please don't spread propaganda promoting private hives. They are horrible.
  3. Actually, Rocket found this fix interesting on Reddit and said that's what they are looking into now. Plus, the majority of people here and on Reddit seem to say this works. Also, it seems that it may be caused by items that carried over from the last patch. So it's best to just drop everything, not just flickering items.

    Hardcore = Friendly?

Not everyone is friendly. The only difference is that you will have more up-close encounters than getting shot on sight, and some of those encounters turn sour. Real 'Resevoir Dogs' type stuff. It's great! Hardcore is the only way to go! But be warned!! The further you go and the longer you play, the less you will want to play on 3PP. Until eventually, 3PP will be that daily chore and good deed you do for friends and family that want to play with you. You have to ease them in to hardcore later on.

    Talk about priorities...

Truth be told, whether it's client side or server side, I think the priorities are dead on with implementing this system. The timer is very small price to pay for a temporary fix to a very HUGE problem. Connection problems do exist, and maybe those problems are worse for others. Still, they could fix the servers for years and still always have problems. No game is immune to connection problems. Here's my opinion on the whole thing: Consider loot as currency in this game. People accumulate it like wealth, and the inflation rate is through the roof. It's nothing to just go get geared. Take into account loot doesn't respawn and servers reset to respawn said loot, it makes it even EASIER! Also take into account there were no penalties for just logging out and going into another server at the same juicy loot spot to keep grinding, ad infinitum. The abundance of loot and the ease of which to get it only lessens the value of life in-game. Making EVERYONE not care if they get killed or not. It also had bad players logging out in combat situations without penalty and server hopping for loot as much as they wanted. Yes, I hear the OP, but I feel these issues are much bigger than a 300 second timer for getting disconnected, be it server or client. Much much bigger. The last thing any game devs need is an over-inflated market, or people breaking the game by combat logging. If this lessens it, which it has significantly, then I am all for it.

    Turn on post processing

One of the best moments I've had was escorting my girlfriend who couldn't see a thing because her health was so low. She had been shot by a sniper, and I brought her back from the dead with a blood bag. From house to house, I lead her around as we looked for food and saline. Eventually, we found rice as is recommended, and we literally sat in a house for 15 minutes as she slowly came back. I read a pristine copy of 'Youth'. Once her blood and colour were back, the blurriness started to go away. It started to hurt her eyes, at which point I told her she can turn it off. And she was happy, but we couldn't see how healthy she was anymore. Putting it on a very low is just enough to monitor your health without taxing your pc, or taking away from your awareness. It also added a huge sense of immersion and depth to our game, as I never EVER had to escort someone in a game because their health was low. It added stress and a feeling of desperation as we looked around. Finally, resting after eating a bag of rice and reading as she healed was a profound moment that I dont' think can be recreated. I suggest turning it on for full immersion. Otherwise, you are only taking away from your experience, and denying yourself moments like the one I explained above. Just my two cents.
  7. It doesn't matter. You have to check the life of your battery by licking it. If you have no option to turn on the Walkie, then the battery is definitely dead. More on the investigation: I know the land between Pusta and Prig pretty well. My girlfriend and I were there last night investigating when my battery ran out while looting Pusta. Luckily we found a fully charged one in Pusta before heading out towards Mogilevka and Vyshnoye. We stopped our investigation at one of the circled locations, 'Pop Ivan', where it's not actually a deer stand, but a radio tower. I've made it a habit to record everything for a while now, because crazy things can happen in DayZ, and I think video is better than a written story. But now I see a great opportunity here to help out the investigation. Nothing to report so far though, and my battery is running out. I'm at Pop Ivan now, but I'm kind of lost as to where to go, because the info is strewn across 22 pages. A daily summary would be nice, so investigators can check in and see where they need to go next, and if there are any new leads. It should include things like: Frequency numbers to check, local AND server times, servers, etc. etc.

    Pooping confirmed.

I read a study that 90% of soldiers defecate themselves during their first time in combat. If we're going to be adding all this stuff, might as well add building up a tolerance to crapping yourself during firefights. While you're at it, add crapping yourself when you're in intense zombie encounters. By the way, I would guess that crapping was added to work in tandem with the nutrition system...? It must have some relevance. They made eating, drinking, sleeping, reading, talking, shitting, pissing, and showering ALL relevant in 'The Ship'. I'm sure they can do the same here.

  11. So, if you look at Miffy's post history, you can see that nothing pleases him about anything. The top ten posts in there are just complaints. He just constantly makes complaints about anything he sees or hears. He is very consistent in his displeasure. No beans for Miffy.

    What's the deal with epoch.

Sounds very tedious and not fun at all. Who wants to chop wood all day... in a game... Thanks for reinforcing my decision to stay very far away from that horrid mod.
  13. This game is going to be awesome. I'm sure there is a demographic of people like me, who believe in this game and will play it regardless of any issues. Furthermore, we will love it fully in any state that it is given to us. Good job Rocket. I may be a little antsy to play, and biding my time impatiently, but your communication helps take away the pain.

    What's the deal with epoch.

I've been hearing rumours that Epoch is a social experiment to filter all the unwanted players from Vanilla servers. Seems to be working fine! Thanks Epoch.

    DayZ Early Access on SteamDB.info?

You mean all this time there was vehicles? On a serious note, you don't find vehicles in Vanilla servers, and if you do, they don't work. I think all these servers with +vehicles, self bloodbags, mods like Epoch, etc., have spoiled these kids rotten. They don't know what it's like to actually work for gear and survival. Be a man, play Vanilla. Stop worrying about cars in a game where cars were supposed to be a huge rarity already.
