It would be great accompanying some kind of adrenaline system. A quick smoke would calm your nerves after being shot at, but not without the drawback of addiction and it would slowly make your character sick.

The original DayZ mod that sparked the popularity of Arma 2 is pretty much dead. On the other hand, the mods known as Epoch and Overpoch which are just improved versions of Wasteland with zombies are all the rage these days. They probably will be for quite some time, I expect them to still be somewhat populated 6 months down the line. The question is, do you want to play a mod where there are several assault rifles in every barn, MRAPs are a common sight and pretty much everyone has a helicopter?

I'm talking about in games where you have to quickly react often like BF4. Try going into a domination game with 25 fps. But even in DayZ SA, if you're playing at 15-20 FPS and there is a clone of you playing at 60 FPS with the exact same gear/skill, the clone is going to kick your ass.

Looks great, your power supply is a bit overkill though. a 600 or 650w modular one would be suitable with upgrade room and you'd save a bit of cash.

In the video above a 660 ti + FX 8320( A cpu worse than the one you're getting) manages to get anywhere from 40-60 FPS on customized ultra settings in Battlefield 4. If you are okay with playing below 60 FPS ( which can put you at a disadvantage) than you can play on ultra, but if you desire to play with 60 or more FPS you will need to bump down the settings. For other games, I don't know, but for BF4 you should be able to play at high with 60 fps. Instead of the 660 TI which is outdated I would reccomend the gtx 760 for about the same price which is slightly faster, or the 770 which is more expensive but will net you higher FPS though you won't manage a constant 60 fps on ultra.

On max? Definitely not. But you should be able to get 60+ FPS on medium-high settings in most games in that list. If you want to play on maximum settings I'd recommend a GTX 770 to replace that 660 TI.

The standalone is the $30 DayZ you buy on steam, based on the mod. It was made into a game to allow for a lot more possibilities that couldn't happen in a mod.

You just have to move your arma 2 and arrowhead folders into your steam>steamapps>common folder, but I guess it's too late.

I'm pretty sure you can just move them to your steam>steamapps>common folder because they are the exact same regardless of whether they are registered with steam, then launch with steam so it overrides your old CD key with the new steam one.

I always figured the random noises were just a bug. It makes no sense for me to be hearing random slurping and eating noises when I'm alone in the forest.

Is the DayZ mod that we all know and love officially dead? I can't find a single populated server that isn't some gross deathmatch variation.

What servers are you trying? You must make sure you have the right mods for the right servers, there are different variants of the DayZ mod such as Epoch.

I never have this problem. Even in the towns infamous for KOS kiddies I easily find a lot of friendly players. To maximize chances of survival, don't instantly expose yourself to every player you see. Talk to them when they can't see you and respond according to their reaction.
