Makes getting out there in the first place a waste. If I know players are spawning there, I won't take the risk of swimming out. We already have salitsky island spawns, we don't need to spawn at the only other hard to reach place on the map just cause you haven't made time to venture down there yet.

Ok and how many shooters have you played where the averge lifespan was longer than 15 minutes? If sniper rifles had minimal recoil, it would take less practice to master them and we'd all be CS sniping like pros in no time. By incorporating these unorthodox shooting mechanics, we have to practice in order to become proficient, as we would in real life.

Isn't the boar pack the same size as a taloon pack? It's my favorite backpack by far. I have been making do with the regular improvised pack so far, but in the past the boar pack gave me both enough space for everything and the low profile that makes your gear-status harder to guage at long distance. When I see the outline of a hunters pack from a distance , I know you are almost certainly packing heat. When I see an improvised pack in the same scenario, I can't know if you're geared and choosing low profile, or if you just chose that over an ugly taloon. Boarskin pack for life.

If we are "swimming" in those desirable assault rifles, why even include the sporter, IZH, sks, cr527, etc?Yes AKs would be common IRL, but this is a game, and it's more fun gradually gearing up than just going from no gun to THE gun every spawn. Every firefight being auto vs auto gets stale. We are lucky enough to have a wide variety of weapons with a nice spectrum of functionality. Yes, I'd rather have an AKM, but killing that AKM guy with my chambered cr527 makes the kill that much more rewarding. Realism can kill gameplay.

Which I think is how it should be :)

AKM's spawn at the "balanced" rate I would expect them to. It's the most powerful assault rifle in the game, and not a weapon I would imagine to be left lying around during an apocalypse. And the relatively higher spawn rate of its mags always makes you helpful to find one around the next bend.

A complete guide to loot on .57 (Work in progress)
Dagwood replied to tandwan's topic in General Discussion
But as seen in some videos showcasing the new nail bats, incorporating new items on the fly is not alpha-proof. But when it's working properly, I hope to see more improvised items and other goodies added more regularly than they have been thus far. -
The new one stop military convenient stores of the latest patch (now-enterable guardhouses). I'm fairly certain that's where I've seen them. If not, I'd guess that the deer stands are a good bet.
-
Even when firing the barrels individually, it's much easier to put two shots down range and on target quickly than with any of the bolt action rifles.
-
Even on the consistently high pop 1pp private hive I've been frequenting, .308 rounds are some of the easiest to come by. And I did zero sniping before .57, so I generally need a lot of shots to hit anything out beyond 500 meters. Luckily, maintaining two full stacks of .308 rounds has never been a problem.@stinkenhiem Deer stands are where I regularly spot them, which is convenient since that's also the only place I find hunting scopes.

Totally forgot about that double fire mode! What have I been doing!?

Holding up players and either playing nice or mean, your choice, is easily the hardest playstyle/endgame in dayz. It requires stealth, firepower, and more than a little charisma. It's also a good way to get killed. Especially when attempting it alone.

Not exploit. Dumbs down combat. Provides even more advantages to stationary combatants. Reduces risk reward system to waiting game. Learn to debate. Sheesh

Joined the BMB clan server on Friday with two friends. I was in Kamyshovo where my two partners had recently been killed. One spawned in solichny and the other spawned in elektro. A server message warned us that elektro was a pvp zone, and the 8 BMB clan members online gave us a destination. My buddy in elektro encountered their clan and played friendly. My other friend met me in kamyshovo where I lent him a silenced CR75 and a flashbang grenade. He made his way to the church in elektro where they were gathering, and I infiltrated the town along the coast. My two friends were drunkenly distracting the BMB clan in the church while I waited in a nearby building. Chris threw his flashbang and I began my suicide run. I approached from the SW, spotting two geared players charging the front door. I flanked in beside them, killing them both with two long bursts from my M4 as they fired into the church with AKMs. Upon breaching the door, I found carnage. Marshall had killed one player with his sledge hammer, and Chris had shot another during the opening seconds of the ambush. Both Chris and Marshall were dead. A girl inside the church proclaimed "what a couple of idiots." My heart pounding and my voice shaking, I replied "who's the idiot now!" I fired into the two player standing in the center of the church, sending them running for over, streaming blood. I came under M4 fire, and ran for the eastern side of the church. When I rounded the corner, a full SMERSH ghillie ran into the bush hugging the side of the church. I frantically hosed him down as I continued to back step along the eastern side of the church. He fell, and I was hit with M4 fire for the second time. I ran south, two zombies hot on my trail. Upon reaching the train tracks I was hit a 3rd time, rounded the corner, dug in, and killed my pursuer as I fell unconscious. While this was going on, both Chris and Marshall spawned in elektro, and charged back in to assist me. When I respawned, I was immediately kicked and then banned. Chris retrieved a shotgun and killed 3 more before being killed and subsequently banned. Marshall retrieved a Smersh vest from my final victim, an M4, and several duped protector cases full of frags and 5.56 rounds. All in all, a very enjoyable encounter, made only sweeter by my ban from the server.

Check mark is a like, yes

They were suggesting trading items across games, like trading space ships in one game for guns in another ie a barter system. This is a trading forum, not a buying forum. 'Twas a joke. Although, trading items from one game for another could be seen as p2w like using money. Idk

Y'all are a bunch of cavemen. This is why we have currency. Join the rest of us in the 21st century ya? ;)Edit: preapocalypse*

IMO, dayz should be a game that you don't play as your primary source of entertainment, as you might with battlefield or DOTA or WOW. It should be something you and your buddies decide to play for an afternoon, or for a week or so. Why? Because I think it should be frustratingly difficult. I have enough easily gratifying games. Dayz has the potential to be something different

Lone wolves also need less to survive. If your one of those players that refuses to do anything but scavenge for survival, another mouth to feed can be a problem.

The main thing getting in the way of teamwork, or strangers teaming up, is a lack of trust. I won't team up with you because I don't want you to shoot me in the back. Roughly. People have suggested penalties for KOSing, and I don't agree with that. However, I do like the idea of being "penalized" for shooting someone that you agreed to play nice with. Here's a rough idea: Let's say a "make truce" mechanic was introduced. When you bumped into a stranger, and you didn't blow each other away immediately, you had an option to offer a truce similar to the way we can check pulse in game currently. If the truce is accepted, you and that player are buddies for a short duration (15 minutes to an hour? Idk). This buddy status changes nothing. No gamey icons, no map indicators, none of that shit. The only difference would be that if one of you hurts the other player UNPROVOKED, and a new truce isn't immediately struck (to avoid friendly fire penalties), the offender would be punished. My thought is that this would maybe make it a little easier for us to trust strangers, and be more inclined to try and give someone the benefit of the doubt. The punishment needs to be appropriate though. No immersion breaking stat changes or permanent clothing changes (looking at you mod-humanity system). I think something subtle like that canibal laugh would be suitable. Something that would give a future, potential backatab victim a warning. Teaming up on the fly is one of the coolest aspects of dayz. I would like to see something subtle done to promote, or even just support this kind of gameplay.

How are we supposed to accurately give feedback on loot quantities and distribution if we go into the patch surviving on good from the previous, pre-patch system? When the game is in it's final form, we'll have reason to be upset about character resets. Until then, we've just gotta suck it up
-
What's wrong with KOSing out of fear? I did it today. Guy asks if we're friendly in a military compound in the dark: I spray 30 rounds in his direction and run away. The difference is shooting someone to survive versus shooting someone because it's the only thing to keep you busy after the first 30 minutes of gearing, as you put it.

Wait... If being a freshspawn was easy.... I wouldn't care if I died, as I could regear easily and enjoy the whole thing.... But when being a freshspawn sucks... I don't wanna risk dying and going back to the coast... It's like... They're trying to make us value our lives or something...
