It's strange how it seems the majority of us on the forums prefer vanilla yet it is the modified servers with self-bloodbag etc that are always full. For instance, I decided to try out some namalsk since I haven't played it in months. The only server that was populated had jets and attack helicopters and self bloodbag. Hard not to survive when you can just circle the map at a few thousand feet...

Breaking point spawns mt dew like dayz spawns Pepsi. Big whoop

Just an FYI cap'n, you're a terrible teammate. Stealing everything out of my pack every chance you got an never talking makes nobody want to play with you. Just thought I'd let you know so you could work on that.

A good sloppy ass kissing always leaves a lasting memory ;)

I play on this server you speak of and I think I know who you're talking about. If you'd like, I can assist you in this manhunt. The two gentlemen that I play with have given up dayz for breaking point unfortunately. So I usually play solo on that server and wouldn't mind a little bounty hunting/score settling. Just give me the word.

Definitely gets my heart racing like no other game, but not with the frequency that it used to. Generally it's the anticipation of knowing that I'm about to get into a firefight these days rather than when I get jumped in an ambush or bump into a player in close proximity. I found a dead player in cherno a few days ago with a dmr, m4 cco and all of the goodies including a ghillie, and an m9sd with 5 mags: but no ammo for either primary. So I was crawling through brush south of stary on my way to the military tents to hopefully find ammo for my dmr (I had ditched the cco for a plain ak with one mag at this point) when I see a player with a dmr in camo up on the hill behin a low rock wall scoping out the town. Long story short I killed him with a frag grenade and my heart was pounding and my hands were shaking as I reached his body (m249 with 2 mags, 3 dmr mags, and full tool belt plus rangefinders). But of course in all of the excitement I didn't consider that he wasn't sniping looters but watching his buddy's back. I got shot in the back of the head as I went running away giggling to myself about all of the loot I had just scored. I love how unforgiving this game can be if you lose focus for just a moment.

I don't understand how people can argue that the latest patch makes the game too hard or impossible. Aren't you embarrassed that other people are still able to thrive and flourish while you can't go five minutes without a "broken" zed giving you an infection or knocking you over? Yes, some of the people on here claiming that the new patch is a piece of cake are just over-exaggerating their skills, but they deserve to if you other players that are struggling won't stop crying. And the argument that a game needs to appeal to every person that might pick it up for it to be successful is nonsense. The devs cannot cater to every players needs and desires. Make your constructive suggestions and then get back in there and beat this game instead of waiting for the developers to do it for you

Died a few times yesterday and finally got a cherno spawn and was geared in 45 minutes checking all the usual spots. And mind you this was on a vanilla private hive (US 420 come check it out). What am I missing?

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
Dagwood replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you're in a small barracks and you have a swarm of infected coming for you, they should be beating the hell out of you. If this means that with the limitations of the mod the zombies are swinging at you through windows and walls, so be it. If the mod had no bugs at all in regard to the zombies, you would be dead anyway. They would run at full speed into the room with you, surround you and beat you into a bloody pulp before you could reload your weapon or swing a hatchet fast enough to neutralize the threat. I can just see the developers licking their chops at the thought of all of the crying and utter frustration they'll see once they have the zombies running inside buildings with us and not getting lost inside conifer trees. The occasional zombie punching you through the wall will be the least of your worries. -
Found this from an aggravated post I made a few weeks back. I hope this doesn't fall upon deaf ears and can help put things into perspective for some of you and give many of you newer players a much needed attitude change. I got into this game 6 months ago because I heard it was the hardest shooter I will have ever played. The average life was around 15 minutes, nobody could be trusted and it would actually get my heart pounding. And even with the clunky engine and woefully obvious mod-symptoms I fell in love. Even with the hackers and massmurdering gates and such we all stuck with it. What's different now? We've all been lulled into a false sense of proficiency. After a few months we were able to figure out all the loot spawns, the zombie agro and associated tricks for losing them, and so on and so forth. I'm getting off track here.... My point is that we all need to remember that the all mighty Creator of this "game" called it an anti-game. It is not supposed to be like any other game. It's a high res ram hack with more to lose. And we've all stuck around this long because the sense of accomplishment is like no other shooter I've played to date. This "broken" patch is going to be figured out in time and we'll all be better gamers with some white hairs when we do. Winter is coming

If a survival game becomes easy, wtf are we doing? Why not sit on the couch and watch dawn of the dead again? That's an easy survival game for you
-
Maybe he ripped open an artery. Is it hard to believe that could happen? I know that seems unfair, but being beaten on isn't usually very fair in real life. Don't stand near walls they can swing through and stop treating them like midgets you can just hold at arms length and receive negligent punishment from

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
Dagwood replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Who needs to spend multiple days gearing up...? If you're playing efficiently it should not take more than 3-4 hours. Sorry you can't sprint through towns, lose zombies in a building because of a bug nobody complains about, and then come out the otherside with 3-4 useful items. Sneaking is finally the effective way to loot. Learn it or enjoy spawning on the beach every 30 minutes -
The players complaining about not finding antibiotics after hours and hours of gameplay need to learn to adapt to a weathered and aged chernarus. Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different end result. If you keep going into hospitals and there is no loot there, stop looking for medical supplies there. And stop ignoring the non-enterable houses for Christ's sake! I never bothered with them before this patch either, but now that little to nothing of value is spawning INSIDE the houses, you need to change your strategy. "But the database says this is the hospital so medical loot needs to be there. This is dumb. I'm going to lay down and pout until I die" If you're not going to fight to earn your survival then you don't deserve it. Go play a game with 2 minute life spans or one with save points if this is too much "punishment" for you

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…

This game needs to be hardcore. If it gets so hardcore that I only play 5 hours a week instead of 15, so be it. I've been playing for 6 months and now the survival part is easy. Now it's become "how many risks can I take and survive?" Survival shouldn't be guaranteed when I spawn in fresh. I think 1 in 4 surviving long enough to secure long term survival status (like hunting knife, matches and hatchet currently) is where the SA should find its balance. We should be proud walking away from town with the gear we need for survival. Not counting the minutes until we hit NWAF -
As a player that always plays on 20+ player, private hives I think that it is a tad unfair for players to be able to gear up on low population servers and then switch over to a higher population server in the same hive when they are ready for pvp/player interaction. I suggest that we group servers in the public hive in the SA into two groups: high pop and low pop. Let me explain how this would work When you create your new character after the previous one dies, you select whether you want to play high or low population servers. Once you've selected, say, high population, you can only log onto servers with 20+ (or more. I know SA will be capable of hosting much more than the 60-60 max we see now) players. Why? So that the "economy" of military-top tier loot does not become over inflated and the game doesn't quickly turn into the wasteland style deathmatch that you will encounter on servers with donation perks (DMRs and LMGs under every rock). Holding into top tier loot on a high pop server should be important and difficult. Losing it shouldn't just mean that you have to server hop a few times on low pop servers at the NWAF until you're ready for another day of pre-kitted pvp on a high server. Thoughts? Ideas?

What will be the first thing that you will do in SA?

Pounding water and soda to get hydrated for my long run north. And then vomit uncontrollably -

If loot can be made as scarce as you've suggested with this central loot control, I can only imagine how fearful players holding onto military weapons will be if they even dare to interact with anyone else. Maybe this will cut down on elektro/cherno sniping. So tired of speculating. Release the damn thing already

Anybody remember the heartbeat mechanic implemented a few patches back that cued you to a players humanity level?

One Thing People Aren't Excited About in the Standalone
Dagwood replied to JustThatEpic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should be only place you can get prison clothes. And ultra rare prison-bitch clothes that sag under your ass. -
No love for the m16acog? Quietest "sniper" rifle in the game.

Teach me the bandit ways!
Dagwood replied to Composite Armour's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If your fairly impatient when in bandit mode as I am, use something juicy as bait (like a ural or UAZ) in a fairly well travelled area. Where you choose to set your ambush depends on who you are looking to kill. After you've found your ambush location, blow out a tire on the bait car. This ensures that someone won't be able to pull your bait off the hook. Then position yourself where you feel confident that you can land shots with the weapon(s) you intend to use. Vehicles are great for making players stand still long enough to land that one shot kill. This baiting tactic has been successful for me in the past when operating alone, but having at least one other person with you can help insure that your target doesn't investigate and/or repair the vehicle in a blindspot. -
Berezino: The Best City in all of Chernarus?
Dagwood replied to TheRaptorFence's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's higher traffic than your average village but going there isn't the death sentence you sign when entering cherno, elektro or even stary. People are less likely to be reckless with their lives this far north also. And I've noticed that if you approach the situation tactfully you can easily trade supplies/converse and other carebear circle jerking can ensue -
I just really hope that military loot is able to stay scarce in the standalone and doesn't become prolific after 2 months of gameplay and looting
