  1. Since the removal of the .50s, there have been many discussions about why or why not they should be introduced. Here are some pros and cons of reintroducing the weapon AS IS: PROS: Many players want it. Developers sometimes want to please the masses. It has anti-material capabilities. It has relatively higher range than any other weapons in the game currently. It is capable of dropping any player or zombie in one hit. CONS: Many players also think that this weapon is over powered and throws off the balance of the game (devs can't please everyone as the weapon is now) It can be used in close quarters combat like a shotgun or assault rifle. It does not reduce mobility It has very little recoil It is semi automatic It can easily be hidden in an assault pack... Now I will tell you how I would like the weapon redone and introduced (IF it was to be implemented. The best way to balance these weapons as I see it is to reduce mobility while wielding one. Here is how I would reduce mobility: The weapon must be unpacked and assembled to operate (barrel must be attached to the rest of the weapon). Recoil and muzzle sway are dramatically increased when firing from anything but the prone position. Moving at anything other than "walk" speed causes the shooter to breathe heavily for a period of time. Also, a specific kind of gun bag must be found if you want to carry it in a pack. This would make a player wielding one of these weapons stand out more obviously. Having the weapon system spawn in 3-4 different pieces (barrel, rifle (no barrel), gun bag, and ammo) would make them much less common. Any bum can pick up a rifle. It takes more effort to collect multiple parts over time in order to implement the weapon. These are some pretty broad ideas, but critical/supportive feedback can help us hone these down or scrap them.

    How to properly reintroduce .50s

Other than covering one position, I don't know what use a single survivor would have for a .50 It should be a squad weapon like helicopters tend to be squad vehicles

    How to properly reintroduce .50s

And with the way weapons will exist in the world as vehicles (whatever that means haha) adding and removing the barrel would hopefully be possible

You might not make a ton of money quickly, but you're able to trade away a seemingly worthless stanag mag for the antibiotics that prevent an infection from slowly killing you....

Barter systems work. Barter systems don't work in complex, modern economies. In an apocalypse situation you are more likely to see a fiat currency take place (think cigarettes in prison camps). It has to be something that can't be easily replicated (inflation) and must contain some internal value. Since epoch takes place well after the outbreak, I suppose precious metals would be preferable for the international traders posted on the coast, but I don't understand why any survivor would want to be paid in heavy bars. More likely you would just set up an account with the trader and you could purchase with credit. Or "bank notes" would be distributed.

    Bandits

I guess a better way to put it is that he is anticipating violent conflict with other players so he is prepared mentally. If you wear a bandit skin you know that you'll receive no mercy from strangers.

Because a lot of people that play dayz don't understand what is going on. They see sacriel and Frankie kicking whole-sale-ass on YouTube, buy arma, install commander, etc, and then find a mod with players on it. It's a snowball effect.

    Bandits

Gotta love seeing the one hero with an mk mod rolling with a pack of bandits

    Bandits

I was going to say that this is the problem with the humanity system, but I suppose it just makes a distinction between different kinds of bandits. The "bandit" with the bandit skin is going to have a harder time interacting with other survivors in a non-violent matter. But if he's earned the skin he likely has the skill and the weapons to just take what he wants. The "bandit" with the survivor skin has a better chance at using subterfuge to trick survivors. While a survivor skin by no means guarantees cooperation from other survivors, it can be a god send when you bump into a heavily geared hero.

yet another story of how you can trust no one.

Perhaps part of the problem is that all of the YouTube videos that you can find on dayz highlight pvp... Perhaps someone who claims to be a "real" bandit should post some clips of them doing the deed the right way... Perhaps....

    Dayz Epoch Hardcore Server

I would be interested in playing. The issue is hosting a server with 3rd person disabled. There are a few of us out there interested in FPV only, but you need a populated server to attract players. How do you plan on attracting players to your server?

Vz.58 (Sa58P/V) rifles should be added

SA58 definitely has superior sights to the akm. And the addition of a cco or an acog is a huge upgrade.

    Adding .50s Back In

IF it were reimplemented, what kind of balance adjustments would y'all like to see made? I think making it a weapon that prevents you from carrying a backpack or a second rifle would be a significant step in the right direction.

    Adding .50s Back In

It also severely depressed the skill curve in pvp. As others have said, it is far too versatile in the mod for a 35lb+ Anti-material rifle. Make the weapon unusable except from a prone position after unpacking it? Then you're taking a step in the direction of balance and "realism". The gunplay in FPS as we have it today is highly unrealistic (although constantly closing the gap). The .50 in dayz highlights this limitation in our current level of sophistication. It cannot be reintroduced as we had it before. Period.

    Automatik walk button

Because this kind of feature promotes even more metagame thinking and is "gamey" and immersion-breaking IMO

    Anti-Banditry

The problem with the humanity system at the moment is that it can be exploited. Becoming a hero takes dedication and perseverance. Of every hero had to earn their skin on strangers, we would know heroes were trustworthy and they could trust one another. What's the difference? Bandits are against everyone else. Heroes can trust other heroes and other survivors that follow the rules. There's your "disadvantage" for bandits.
  18. If you aren't fucking around and actually want to reach hero status sometime this year: M1014. You receive bonus humanity for every pellet that hits your bandit. So you cripple survivors that attack you with some kind of silenced rifle, and you double tap bandits in the chest with the shotty.

    Where's vanilla at?

If you're Amurrican, try us3480. Highest pop vanilla server on commander. Usually above 30 players until 10-11 PST. But Idk how you have private hives showing up when you select hide unofficial... That's evil...

    Ability to remove firing pin

But it would take 30+ seconds to "reattach" the firing pin and make the weapon a threat again. Essentially just another safe guard against "friendly" fresh spawns
  24. Dagwood

    Ability to remove firing pin

As I stated earlier.... The firing pin and the weapon are not two separate pieces. It would be more like a state that the weapon is currently in. Think, firing pin removed, unloaded (safe), and loaded. No trolling with useless weapons. Already addressed that. You gotta read ALL the lines

    La5A2 holo VS m14 aim

Problem with the m14 is the noise. The m14 outclasses all other rifles in every characteristic but noise. Firing an m14 in or near a town can spell disaster for a player who is not prepared for the horde. For running around cherno or elektro I would prefer a 5.56 rifle (in this case the l85), but for any maneuvering or engaging in the countryside the m14 is the obvious choice. IMO the akm and sa58 should be the most powerful assault rifles in the game. The m14 smashes the skill curve.
