DayZ really needs more "trash" loot

Trash being left behind from using consumables was also a fairly effective way to track people in the mod. In due time.

    Survey: Worst part of DayZ?

People expecting the game to be balanced at this point in development, and making accusations of the developers giving up on the vision they had when they began development. Yes, food and ammo is everywhere. Ever think that when zombies are dangerous and abundant, you won't necessarily be able to stroll down the street and his two dozen houses at your leisure? Imagine you find a can of food and a knife in one house, sneak down to the next house, find a pistol and a box of shotgun shells in the next, and on your way out some asshat fires a shot at you. You then have 5-10 zombies chasing after the both of you and you are forced to vacate tje town to avoid being overrun. If you didn't find diddly in those first couple of buildings, this game would become incredibly tedious, and the advantage held by those that got into the game sooner than those that did not would become problematic. Wait until ALL features are implemented before you start complaining about how game plays vs how game should play.
  4. Military bases being the hot spots again. PVP coast life was fun for a while, but now I hunger for butthole puckering airstrip crossings, barracks showdowns, and just generally more dynamic encounters. Also, any news on whether chopper crashsites will be dynamic again in .58 stable? Hunting for crashsites would be cool.

Anyone else excited for persistence and barrels?

.57 gives us the opportunity to practice with all the guns that will be harder to come by, and more precious to lose when .58 hits stable. But if scavenging and stashing is your thing, .57 would be a drag.

svd or winchester 70 or blaze

For elektro, svd is gonna be your best bet. Highest damage, largest ammo count, and the ability to suppress. If you were pvping in the west at the military bases, like a man, the blaze with hunting scope might serve you better because of the superior zoom. Also, the blaze and Winchester are much easier to get your hands on. You might as well get some use out of that svd while you have the chance.

    Barn Locations In Chernarus

    For what purpose?
  10. Just started playing here this week. It's like I'm playing a different version of the same game. Been bumping into players in the woods for the first time since my days in the mod. Been so tired of only bumping into players in the same 5 hotspots. Dayz used to be about rural combat, not hiding in buildings and taking potshots at looters. I'm connecting from the Pacific Northwest with 200 ping, but this has still been the most fun I've had playing dayz in months. If you want to be scared while on every corner of the map, and feel like there is always someone watching you, I suggest you try out this server.

Jipped is a highly offensive term. My children will likely be gypsies. Please change your title, sir.

    Bikes Confirmed = New Goal

You're telling me that if you saw somebody cruising down the road on a nifty bike while you were hoofing it, you wouldn't be tempted to relieve them of the bike with your handy rifle? I would think you, with your cycling passion, would be tempted more than most to do whatever it takes to get your hands on a bike. Or are you part of some cycling master race subculture that I, as a Portlandian, don't know about? You should move to Portland, you'll quickly get over your smugness about riding a bike. It's not that big of a deal.

    Spread out spawnpoints across Chernarus.

When CLE is finally working as intended, the map will be broken up into 4 "sections". First section will comprise the entire coastline. In this area, survival gear, civilian clothes, and low end weapons like the makarov and IzH rifle will be spawning along side canned food and drink. In zone 2, further inland, weapons like the blaze and Winchester will spawn as well as more desirable hunting gear. In zone 3 we will start stumbling across military weaponry and other desirables. Zone 4 will be the end all of weaponry looting, but will be scarce on food and other survival necessities. The goal here, as stated by Hicks in a vidya I saw on the interwebs, is to force players to travel around the map in order to acquire the things they want. Truly randomized spawning only makes sense when loot is consistently spawning in the same building across the map. With the loot dispersion I just described, spawning on the coast will be one of the most important elements of the game.

    CR 527 SNIPER VIABILITY

Blaze has best burst damage of any long ranged civilian weapon in game right now. That one two punch capability can be deveatating if you land both shots. Keep scope, ditch rifle, collect blaze from nearby deer stand.
  15. Put the backpack down first, then drop something large like a jacket on top of it. Then put the note down. Hopefully they won't be able to access the pack until the other things are picked up first. Not sure if this would work, but it is definitely the case with other items stacked on top of one another.

    what a game this is

Not necessarily. It depends on the player, their location on the map, and how much time they have invested in gearing up/surviving. My repeater wielding badass on the coast going head to head with everyone I bump into: don't care when I die. Still an adrenaline rush, but not so painful. My kashtan/silencer AK74 wielding character with longingly crafted Smersh vest and all of the other goodies creeping around heli-crash alley: it would hurt. Even a very one sided ambush gets my heart pumping. A half dozen kills and numerous hours spent looking over my shoulder will make most people pretty invested in their character. And all of that doesn't even touch on the competitive side of things. It's a game of life and death. When they kill you, they won. They outplayed you, and you should have played it differently. Nearly all of my deaths leave me frustrated at myself for not playing the situation differently. If you are crying/angry at your killer, you're probably not going to learn much from your deaths (which are your mistakes). I agree with the OP. This game can get my heart racing like no other game I've played.

    Where are the animals?

Animals should be scarce. Otherwise, where is the gratification in on finding and killing one?

    Where is everyone?

Server hopping the jail at balota of course. Pretty sure an AK74 and corresponding mag spawn there every restart. I only play private hives these days, but I have found that combo there twice now shortly after restart. Explains all the AK74s I see in Cherno pvp videos. But to answer your question, berezino, elektro, and Cherno will be your best bet on high pop public hive servers. You'll likely only find pvp there. However, if you are returning after a long break, this patch will give you plenty of tools to practice some pvp. If you want to find other kinds of interaction in other places, I suggest high pop private hives.

    Sniper's weapon of choice

The blaze hunting rifle is great for novice snipers such as myself. I generally don't play the "sniper" role in shooters, and dayz is a game where sniping takes some practice before it truly becomes effective. Nothing is more frustrating than missing the first shot by 6 inches, and after cycling your next round your target is GTFO and any follow up shots are magnitudes more difficult to land. With the blaze, even if/when I miss my first shot, I can very quickly adjust my aim and put a second shot down range before my target has time to mobilize. It also takes away some of the temptation to fire off to many shots from one location before repositioning. Lately I've been forcing myself to relocate with every reload. I've been noticing the habit transferring over to tier firearms in differen situations, and doing so has earned me two easy kills already.
  21. I have tried both. I personally am leaning in favor of the blaze these days. The reason is not just because of outright sex appeal, but also because of the lackluster stopping power of the .308 round. If I am setting a hasty ambush, it is likely that I won't land a headshot on the first shot. That means that I will need to land a second shot to drop them or even draw blood. With the bolt action of the Winchester, those follow up shots will be against a ducking and dodging target. With my potato computer and dayz's notorious desync, that's difficult. With a blaze, getting two shots onto target before they know what's happening is much easier, and my targets never get away free two direct hits. I'm making this thread because I run into many more Winchester wielding combatants than blaze toters. I would like to hear others' thoughts on these two weapons, and why they favor one over the other.

    dropped weapons

Reserve slots? I don't follow. I couldn't put stuff in my high cap vest that was holding my SMG in previous patches while it was in my hand. Now I can. You lost me.
  23. Dagwood

    dropped weapons

Nobody throws items into their now open slots when looting with their secondary drawn and then sorts through the food and such once they leave town? That sounds like a legitimate "IRL" tactic to me. And I do it in game. It works especially well when playing with another player or two. I move into the town/base with my AK74U drawn and my blaze on my back. I now have 12 more slots available than I would have in previous patches. I grab food, drinks, ammo etc. while looting, and then leave the town/base. I rendezvous with my team, distribute the loot, and then can replace my AK74U into my pack. Imagine taking fire from a sniper and hastily trying to put your secondary away to climb down a ladder or draw your long range weapon. It's not hard to imagine that you wouldn't notice your pistol sliding out of your pack during the commotion because there isn't enough room left anymore. Man up and adapt. Stop whining. UI isn't complete yet.

    dropped weapons

Or you could just be mindful. Not have your secondary stored at the top of your inventory where you're going to be dropping loot. Don't grab loot when you know you should have a full inventory but your weapon is drawn. I have not done this once and I'm running an AK74U in an improvised pack with a packless Smersh vest. Pay attention.
