    Loot distribution is all wrong

But it's an alpha. In a year they will start the real balancing act.

    Loot distribution is all wrong

I think the key to balancing the civilian and military weapons is the cost of upkeep. Assault rifles should degrade faster, break easier, and eat much rarer ammunition than their civilian counterparts. An M4 with 10 bullets against a sporting rifle or shotgun with five times the ammunition could be a decently fair match. Plus, this might create a little more variety in weapon composition within groups. If everyone can keep their M4Acog fed, everyone will use M4s. The choice in which weapon to take should be complex.

Will the SA go on sale?

It's $30.... Just fork it over. It'll be $45 when it's beta and $60+ when completed.
  4. Be able to store items inside of cooking pots like we can with the med bag and protective case.

    Loot distribution is all wrong

If nobody finds anything, how will they get to test it...? Maybe this is why military loot is so prevalent at the moment...

    What's the deal with epoch.

I suppose that Epoch is more enjoyable if you are playing with people who possess limited imagination/sportsmanship. Epoch fills in the gaps with game mechanics while dayz relies more heavily upon player solidarity and honor to achieve the desired experience. Hopefully the tediousness of surviving in the SA will turn away all but the most dedicated

    New map idea?

This sounds like the map for a war to be fought. I didn't hear one mention of infected or anything else dayz related. Just a bunch of pretty guns and cars you want to play with..

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

If I get killed by a sniper in elektro or cherno, I know that I made a mistake and exposed myself to one of the dozen or so obvious camping spots. If that guy decides to loot my body; good for him. If he just sits up in the same spot and continues to gun people down, good for him. The motives behind his actions make zero difference to what happens to me after I die. If I made an Arian looking character and roleplayed him as a racist that kills any non-white avatars, I would still be killing people on sight, but now I can claim it's not just for the lols. Or a redneck defending his homeland from aliens washing up on the beach. He HAS to kill those freshspawns. Criticizing players for their MOTIVES and not their actions is a pretty weak excuse for getting killed.

    DayZ headshot -53k possible?

Is that because there is a damage multiplier with the headshot? If so, this guy must feel like a real boss being accused of hacking because he kills everyone with head shots.
  10. In the mod, when we lose blood, our vision changes and we occasionally feint. Seems logical. I think loss of some dexterity would be reasonable as well. What do I mean by dexterity? The ability to accomplish tasks that require nimble fingers or a steady hand (zeroing a scope, crafting smaller items, manually loading cartridges, etc). My suggestion is that as a player's blood level drops, the chances of them failing these tasks increases. For you skill progression supporters, imagine this loss in dexterity becoming less dramatic if the survivor has survived longer. Or with certain drugs perhaps? Just had this pop into my head on the interstate. Thoughts?
  11. Good thinking, Brony. I suppose that would accomplish the same thing but be less frustrating and gamey.
  12. But... But it's an airfield!
  13. Wrote up a big long explanation for this once and then my phone died so you're getting the short and sweet. You're welcome. Gear degradation has been confirmed. Some people think players should not be able to loot their "own" corpse. Idea: zeds will attack and mangle fresh corpses; especially if they were in pursuit of the person when they died. If they killed the player, it's game over for anything fragile (GPS, scope, etc.) Everyone has been raving about gear degradation stopping KOS and promoting "banditry". I think zeds ripping your body to shreds (or the body of the guy you just shot in the middle of town) is more likely to make players think twice. Thoughts?

    Zombles and Gear Degradation

The biggest hurdle to implementing this that I see (furthest thing from a programmer or developer) is creating animations for infected beating and tearing at downed bodies. Maybe they already have it in place for unconscious bodies. But in addition to altering gameplay, I see this feature adding some much needed gore which is missing in the mod.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

But if there were no street thugs to worry about, what's to stop us all from merrily skipping down the street? If every bandit just stood you up, you wouldn't be afraid of bandits....

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

What do you mean when you say, for no reason..?

    Which guns should I choose?

But a town full of angry zeds is what my backpack full of pellets is for :)

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

So what should we start calling them?

Did I do the right thing?

It's their own fault for exposing themselves to a complete stranger. Why do people trust teenagers with no accountability for their actions....

    Which guns should I choose?

Idk, I've honestly had better luck with the M1014 than with the pee-shooter AK. The only advantages I see for the AK here are range and RoF. But because the AK does so little damage at range, I'd almost prefer to just blanket them in pellets at 100+ meters and hope for an arm/leg break. Not to mention the immersion-boner that comes with a shotgun.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

I don't understand why everyone hates on the KOSers so hard. They're the reason charging into high value areas isn't plausible. Without KOSers, why play stealthy? A "true bandit" as you all love to call them, would be forced to get in close, (which is impossible if you are running in one direction) and then announce himself and deliver his demands. If there are no "bad bandits" there is no reason to play safe during those long runs from town to town. There's no reason to play in the dark with your lights off. "Bandits that kidnap me and make me do ridiculous sh*t are my favorite!" Without KOSers, there is almost an incentive to get stood up. Dayz as a zombie survival game has little replay value. Sorry. When the SA releases, this will change. But at the moment, it is other players that keep the game exciting. What's my point? If you don't like being killed by the less-imaginative, uncreative part of this population, (your KOSer that you hate so much) stop exposing yourself to snipers and stop trusting strangers. It is still possible to play dayz as a neutral or a friendly. You just have to be much more careful.

    Which guns should I choose?

    M1014 or AK74-Kobra?

    Your Greatest Friend in DayZ

My all encompassing FOV in FPV....
  24. Caribou uses the latest 1.8 UI and is first person only (or at least it was when I played). It played like a mixture of Podagorak and Namalsk with military bases scattered throughout the relatively small map and rarer residential spots. Unfortunately it turned into a DM around the only hospital on the map which was located at the biggest military base that was also a common spawn point....
  25. Lately this has been my solution for fresh-ish spawns that won't go away. Break their legs and move on.
