Charged by 5 zombies in the middle of the woods?
Dagwood replied to SteenRNS's topic in General Discussion
Looting small towns while unarmed is already a bit hectic. Running in and out of small houses to find a blunt object with 5-6 on your tail makes looting so much more fun. I can already imagine how much of a pain cherno and the surrounding cities will be to loot when zeds are present in large numbers... So exciting. I think the weak melee weapons coupled with large numbers of zeds will force under equipped survivors to team together to effectively loot these population centers. -
Why co-operate if you're gonna get shot anyways?
Dagwood replied to Goddam Firestations's topic in General Discussion
If you are only in it to "win" why even bother playing dayz? Arma would give you a lot more firefights with less downtime inbetween -
While the zombie path finding is still far from perfect, have y'all noticed that now the zombies won' run through exterior walls around yards and such? They still ghost into houses, but if I'm in a closed off yard or something it seems like the zombies actually use gates and alleyways to reach me instead of just running through. Anyone else noticed this improvement?

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
Dagwood replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
But will the 10/22 be moddable? There are hundreds of attachments and variants for this weapon. I'm imagining a blued barrel with a wooden stock. But if they incorporate a mil-sim version it could drop parts like the M4 does currently. Will be an interesting addition to the game either way (whether it makes sense being in that country or not) -
The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
Dagwood replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
It should be a knockout shot to the head. Then you bleed so much that by the time you wake up and bandage you're practically dead. 2 shots to the head should be required for the kill. -
Running away from superior points... First logical move you've made all day... Too bad I can't see you over this wall of facts. A wall of facts that your lackluster opinions cannot even come close to bringing down. At least you know when you're beat. But did you see that in first person or third..? Cause that would be an exploit if you saw it in 3rd person :) You were wonderful. Thank you. Have a great night!

And y'all are dismissing my opinion without even refuting a single comment in this thread! And you called me a conforming neo-nazi...
-
Nobody is calling you a cheater. You just have access to game features that make "cheating" your own experience almost too tempting to resist. But like I said, it's your poker game...
-
When you are able to organize a coherent argument against my points, I will begin to show you the respect you so dearly need. But alas, my undeniable logic goes untarnished, safely above your feeble attempts at counter arguments. And I get to keep teasing you because you can't out argue me :) But please, keep trying. Your tears give me strength.
-
Woah man. I'm sorry if I insulted you. If you want to keep playing poker with a reflective sunglasses dress code, that's your own choice. But you're not going to become a better poker player until you learn to read your opponent without seeing his whole hand...

And you erroneously chose regular servers. You just don't know it yet!

I'm not being a douche. Unless dayz is the precious vagina that must be cleansed of the filth that is the 3rd person community. If that is the case, I am the holiest of douches :)

And so you're telling me that if you were playing battlefield and half of the servers had wall hacks enabled, you wouldn't be upset about it? And if 90% of the player base played on walhack enabled servers, you wouldn't want to enlighten them to the error of their ways? Attempt to show them that the game can be played in a different, more frightening way? Can you ignore the blatant trolls and shit flingers long enough to see that some of us are just trying to help you? Help me....help you....

But if he's in the 3rd floor window of an apartment completely covered from view, how is the guy actually traveling around the map supposed to outsmart him? The person "wall peeking" with his invisible head has essentially guaranteed to have the jump on his opponent. Same scenario, hardcore server: That camper in the apartment has to peak his real, visible, vulnerable head around the window frame every time he wants a visual on his field of fire. While he is still almost impossible to see if he's playing smart, there is still an opportunity for out wandering survivor to spot his ambusher. 3rd person may still require wits and skill, but not nearly as much as playing without a persicope. Why is it so hard for you to understand that you can actually lean around corners without using wall hacks? Just because it's harder to master you can't bring yourselves to ditch your easy-cam.
-
No retort to my post, Louist? Still trying to defend your cheapened style with the "well at least we're all using the same cowardly tactics so it's fair!"? Would you use the same argument if we all had access to x ray vision and teleporting hacks? While we would all be on a level playing field, the game would still be the worse for it. So while I can't deny your logic, I can say with confidence that the game and the gameplay it provides is cheapened by all of the negative side effects that come with the inclusion of 3rd person.
-
Why is it dumb? Because you have no example of a reasonable, realistic tactic that is ruined by FPV? Please prove me wrong.
-
I have it! The trump to the "both perspectives give diferent advantages and disadvantages, but they're just as equal." While I agree that everyone has the same opportunity to exploit 3rd person, 3rd person play cheapens the experience and lowers the tactical skill curve. How? SURPPRESSING FIRE DOES NOT WORK ON 3RD PERSON SERVERS. First person allows you to use real world tactics when sneaking and when in gunfights. Sure, you can pin me down with gunfire while your buddy try's to flank me, but I will see his entire movement with my trusty periscope. This means that any fire and maneuver tactics go right out the window. Nobody is going to even try to argue with this because they can't deny the logic that 3rd person is more gamey and less authentic/realistic. Just this one example proves that, but being a forum of teenage boys, it will go unanswered.

^^^^ for a camper like you; I can understand why you would prefer 3rd person and think that it is more difficult. The only reason it is more difficult is because everyone knows that camping is the malt successful strategy when playing 3rd person. It also makes camping less boring as the area you can observe without being overly exposed is much larger. Maybe you putter around like a roomba when you play first person. That does not mean that it is the same for everyone else. Try using your W and A keys when playing first person. You'd be amazed at how much more agile you feel once you've taken the time to learn the controls.

We fume because all of the videos on the Internet are in 3rd person and in every video, the 3rd person camera is used to look over or around objects. And you're right, this is not an exploit, but an implemented feature that every player has the right to use to the fullest of their abilities. BUT, for those of us who have made the decision to play FPV only, the use of 3rd person (and all of the advantages and disadvantages that it brings) cheapen the experience. The argument that 3rd person increases your field of view doesn't make any sense. Yes, when staring at a wall at point blank range, having the camera 5 feet behind you increases what you can see in your peripherals within 5-10 feet. After that short range, the change in perspective does little to increase your FOV. Do your same little wall staring experiment and tell me what you can see in your peripherals after 30 feet. Then, switch to first person and try using that free look feature. This is how the players on hardcore servers deal with the limitations of an alpha videogame. By adapting and overcoming. I recommend you challenge yourself and try the same.
-
Short answer OP, hardcore servers are more work and require playing more carefully when choosing to act violently toward others. In 3rd person, once you are geared with some kind of rifle, all you need to do to nearly guarantee a few kills is find a window with a wide vantage or a roof with a small lip. Hide yourself, and watch your killzone. In hardcore servers, anything that you can see can see you. This makes camping and killing more work. This community isn't very mature anymore. And like the lady said, most of the player base falls down the path of least resistance. When surviving the environment becomes a challenge, much of the population will switch to other games and leave the real game to us.

How is Electro PvP in 1st Person Servers in your opinion?
Dagwood replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Idk, is battlefield more or less fun with wall hacks? Because that's what 3rd person urban combat is. -
My buddies and I have been using courier bags and children's cases exclusively for a few days now. Even with just two people we can carry all the supplies we need. This play style teaches you to weigh the benefits of carrying different items instead of grabbing everything you find. When the amount of equipment needed for survival increases, the need for this skill will also increase. Y'all are playing dayz with the kind of mentality that I hope to see become more common as the game improves and the more casual gamers fade away. Beans for all.

Head shots always ensure victory. M4 gives you the most headshot attempts in the least amount of time. M4 is the best weapon currently

Hacker Report, Teleport, Weapon Spawn etc.
Dagwood replied to Apicalis's topic in General Discussion
I met a guy last night that informed me of a duping bug that allows you to duplicate weapons. Is this a commonly known problem or something worth reporting? Note: I have the exact details of how the dupe works. Repeating it here would just exacerbate the problem -
How come the NW airfield is just about the safest place on the map atm?
Dagwood replied to naraga's topic in General Discussion
Because there is no more map markers. Most teenagers don't know how to land nav. Staying on the coast doesn't require any land nav skills. In the mod, you could just point and shift+click the NWAF and then poof you know exactly where to go. I just hope the center of the map doesn't stay empty forever...
