    Feedback on CR527?

Running around with a magnum with 10 rounds an these two worthless hunks of metal has made me really want the magazines badly, and given my character purpose. I found yet another MP5 in elektro just now but still no mags :/
  2. The map is too heavily weighted on the west side for spawns to be brought back to the south coast. Most likely the camp will be moved to the north west to bring some life to the region north of the NWAF. Balota will still be a high yield location with 3 barracks, 2 hangars, 2 jails, and an ATC. Hopefully the NWAF will be the largest military installation on the map, with smaller installations to the north and south. Because there are already 4 bases south of NWAF, it would make sense to move one or two north of it. Just my 2 cents.

    Shotgun's quite powerfull now?

When the devs get around to implementing the pump shotgun, I'll leave ARs behind without a thought. A pump with buckshot and slugs is an excellent survival weapon. Paired with a longhorn, you're more than capable of defending yourself from multiple aggressors. My main concern is with how reloading will be handled. Having to play the full, 6 round loading animation everytime you want to pop a shell or two into the tube will be incredibly crippling. Keeping your tube consistently fed is the challenge and fun of using a pump.

    "Vehicle component design"

I see vehicles as a powerful force multiplier and a time-saver in completing otherwise arduous tasks. Want to build a base out of logs and cement blocks? Have fun hauling all of that on foot back and forth, one log at a time. With a vehicle, 3 hours of commuting back and forth for materials is drastically reduced. Need to meet up with a freshly spawned buddy? Picking him up in your sweet UAZ will make the process 10 times faster. I don't think that vehicles should necessarily be the final stage of the "end-game", but risking a vehicle for some ballsy balota loot run on a full server should not be a common occurrence. Once you have a vehicle running and in your possession, maintaining and protecting it should be of higher importance than any other piece of equipment you possess.
  5. Imagine how awesome it will be hitting NWAF on a full server the night that we all get wiped... Glorious

    What's your favorite clothing?

Khaki cargo pants, green raincoat and brown radar cap combined with the new boarskin backpack is both functionally camouflaged as well as appearing less paramilitary. I'm currently running this set with an olive high capacity vest: so sexy.

    101 vs AKM

When the AKM was first released and the dispersion values were at 0, I made an argument in a thread about how the AKM was currently the most accurate rifle hands down. Etherimp politely reminded me that the M4 had less recoil in addition to A FLATTER BULLET TRAJECTORY. A flatter trajectory equates to easier and more forgiving zeroing of your rifle ie a 450 meter shot zeroed at 400 meters will be more "accurate" with a 5.56mm round than with a 7.62x39mm round. (Less compensation between 100 yard zeroing increments is required) For this reason, I would agree with maxrain's observation that it is easier to put rounds on target at long range with the AK101 than with the AKM; despite the fact that both weapons have identical base dispersion values.

Isn't item permanence counterintuitive to permadeath?

How about upon the player dying, any items that they possessed in tents or other various containers drop 2 condition levels. So pristine items become damaged, and damaged items become ruined. This would reduce clans' glaring advantage in gear hoarding capabilities. With this mechanic, players with large stashes of gear would be hesitant to get into a death matching cycle as all of the items in their stash would become ruined if they died even twice before retuning to it. I'm not sure how demanding this kind of connection between players and their stashes would be on the engine, but it's a thought.

    Trading Post

Looking to trade away my FNX with red dot and 3 mags for makarov mags, .380 rounds, and a longhorn. If you have these items and would like to replace them with the now-rare FNX, send me a PM.
  10. Hmm must have searched incorrectly. Still want to give up that acog?
  11. When I searched for "krackan69" on steam, there was no user with that name appearing. Several with just the name "crackan" but not crackan69
  12. I found one at a heli crash yesterday. This may be the only place they spawn now. Quit server hopping and get helo hunting!

    Too Many Zombies

Zombies respawning is to simulate higher zed population on the map without increasing the strain on the server. Eventually zombies will spawn at server restart and that will be the end of it until the next restart (afaik). So in the meantime, just suspend disbelief and pretend the respawned zombies are zombies in buildings or lying in the grass that you didn't see before. If you combat zombies with that in mind, you'll stop getting your ass eaten alive.

Hardcore: Just found a makarov with a mag plus a box of .380 rounds. I'd be willing to trade it for an Acog and an ammo crate.
  16. Idk what the developers are going to do to combat this kind of metagame thinking in regards to loot. People are even server hopping to find supposedly random heli crashes. I guess a balance between the previous experimental's loot scarcity and the current stable branch's over abundance of loot combined with te new loot respawning mechanic would be a start. Loot is still far too abundant
  17. Anyone needing to splint every time a zombie hits them to keep their weapon sway at manageable levels? It seems like whenever I take any zombie damage my sway arc at least triples in size. Splinting (even without a broken notification) will then reduce the sway to previous levels. Sorry if this is already in the bug tracker. Just wanted to share while my boar steaks were cooking :)

    Weapon sway and repeated splinting

Ya I almost died in the woods west of Zelenogorsk crafting a splint when two more came at me unexpectedly. Was hammering cancel action and ended up bandaging a few times in my panic. Oh how I love you dayz :)

    Best Feeling Ever

Best feeling ever: finding my first heli crash site since SA release with pristine RIS and MP buttstock for my damaged, stock M4 I've been hauling around for 3 weeks. Found her smoldering on a hill overlooking sosnovka. Easily the most exciting find of the standalone so far.

Stashing the goods. Sure, but where?

I will be the first to say what I think a lot of other players are thinking: the south eastern corner of the map is the new ideal region for stashing tents. This is for three reasons 1.) limited locations of value or interest in the area. The towns north of elektro and west of solichny are of limited value to both newspawns and geared players. 2.) this region has the most extensive forest on the map. The western and northern forests of the mod have been extensively reduced. Nuff said. 3.) the south eastern corner of the map is easily within reach of east coast spawns while not being a common destination or transitory area for coastal players. In the mod (southern spawns), the forest along the western edge of the map was an area with very similar characteristics to the south eastern corner of the map in the SA: low value, low traffic, dense forests, and within reach of player spawns. For these reasons, I believe that the south eastern corner of the map will be a fairly popular spot for large stashes. Of course, most of this scheming and subterfuge is unneccessary as the majority of the high-yield stashes will be tucked away on consistently empty servers away from prying eyes until private hives are implemented.

    future update ideas?

Because soldier of fortune and dayz are completely different games. That's like saying, why can't my 2014 dodge pickup truck go from 0-60 in 3 seconds when sports cars from 10 years ago could do it? Yes, technology and software/hardware have improved, but not on a level that would make what you're asking for possible. For instance, take a look at the difference in graphics and performance between skyrim and elder scrolls online. ESO probably doesn't have the level of graphical detail that skyrim, an older game, has. But instead, it allows hundreds of people to interact in the same environment at the same time (which would be impossible with skyrim). I made a post about zombies beating upon unconscious players last summer and razor informed me/us that it was already a confirmed feature for the standalone. Don't forget that all of the tweaks and fixes that are being made to the current zombies will be completely irrelevant once the new zombies (which are being completely redone by a separate studio and team) are incorporated. The navmesh thingy they did recently brings us one step closer to the new zombie AI. Patience, my brothers.
  23. Or when we're sick and/or have a poor diet we have reoccurring diariah. This would punish players that don't properly take care of their avatars

    I'm angry at myself

If you don't have the upper hand, communication should not be your first priority. You wanna do everything you can to put less control of the situation into the stranger's hands. If you bump into them coming around a corner with no way to immediately put him down, by all means, communicate away as you bolt for cover. But putting yourself into a vulnerable position and gambling on someone's reaction is not a smart move.

I'm sorry I called her a witch, orlok... But my local pastor was pretty adamant on the subject.
