Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
Dagwood replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
During the mod days I crouch-ran everywhere anyways because of the greater threat of being seen by other players. This was the case because there were fewer military bases which made gearing up more dangerous. When the player cap is raised, and the chance of seeing other players is increased, sprinting will be more dangerous and players will be forced to slow down. I still think the sprint speed needs to be decreased so combat can be slowed down and tactical firefights can see a return. -
What I wann know is whether or not the current vehicle implementation has the collision coding to support running over other players. I miss the days in the mod when I would come running out into the street, screaming for a ride, to only get splattered all over the road. Good times.

Just hopped on my over geared hardcore tune near versenik. Ran up to the southern barracks under a rain of hellfire that ineffectively clanged into the barracks glass. I panicked and fired an entire clip while strafing to the right behind the southern wall. After reloading and working my way around to the south eastern gate. Got in a nice spot to watch the door from just north of it (I could see along the front of the building but not inside). A survivor soon poked his head out the front door and after a few quick gopher peaks he made a run toward our previous contact (away from my current location). I gave him a few quick bursts in the back and charged after his telltale blood spurts. Upon crossing the front of the barracks to the other side, I saw a second assailant just behind the camo building. I quickly doubled back, avoiding a hail of gunfire. I reloaded (mistake) and attempted to flank around the back of the barracks. Once I reached the tail end of the building, the second assailant rounded the corner. I held the trigger down, my heart pounding as i strafed left, doing my best to keep my crosshair on his torso. He fired 1 shot and killed me. Playing drunk is fun, but can get weeks old characters killed in a matter of seconds.

Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
Dagwood replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
Easily-enraged-forum-warriors are easily enraged. This discussion doesn't need to come to a decisive conclusion until one format negatively affects the other. I'm lucky enough to live in a region that has several populated 1pp servers on a regular basis. Do I think that 1pp only is better? Yes. Do I care that the majority of players play 3pp? Nope. -
Lmg wasn't OP in mod, why would it be in SA? AKM with drum isn't OP. Nuff said

Pump shotgun is more forgiving than the sporter. Killing a charging and weaving assailant with a sporter takes some skill. You'll need to land 5+ shots to kill someone wearing a pristine jacket and vest/holster. If they have a shotgun and you don't land those shots in time, they'll put you down while you're scrambling to reload or relocate. Pump shotgun takes one shot to the neck to put them down. Notice that I said neck and not head. The spread of the shotgun makes landing headshots much easier when you're panicking to get a quick shot off. Or, if you seriously panic (like I often do), a blast to the legs followed by a quick charge past them will leave them immobilized and unable to quickly shoot back (assuming you're behind them). If you like shooting zombies though, the .22 will get you into less trouble in high traffic areas. It's quiet and you'll never run out of ammo.
-
Pump shotgun is the best "looting weapon". For looting, you don't need to make mid to long range shots. You need a weapon that can save you if someone has the drop on you. Pump shotgun can do that. Suppression capability and one shot lethality make it an easy choice for me.

The difference is the ease in finding traders you can actually trade with. I don't think there would be a need for any other difference between the two.

What a dramatic thread title for such a simple question...
-
Because the AUG is a bullpup, it had the shortest overall length of any assault rifle in the game, no? If anything, it should be the supreme assault rifle leader in CQB combat, but recoil more than it's brothers because of its light weight and unique center of balance. I've never fired a bullpup weapon, so I'm pretty much talking out of my ass. Still sounds reasonable though...

Maybe we should have separate trading posts for regular and hardcore. I think a lot of hardcore players don't bother offering trades because of how outnumbered we are. Maybe I'm wrong, but it probably wouldn't take much to make a separate thread.

Really Good Idea For Gas Masks (Please Look Dev's)
Dagwood replied to WuBz_Da_Boss's topic in Suggestions
Cool idea. On a side note, please stop capitalizing every other word. Makes reading slow (and probably typing as well). Give that pinky a rest! Edit: EVERY word. -
Based on the gear you have on you, I'm guessing you killed a duper/hacker on the coast for it. That being said, at least you didn't invest too much time into getting that Smersh vest before you lost it.

Unless you keep alcohol tincture in your pack to fix your rags if they done gone broke. Pro strat

With the addition of the new mil base, sevorograd is my new favorite. Sevorograd has a new feel to it with the canal going through the center of town, and the hillside leading to the military base has lots of sniping potential. In addition, the new mil base is an ambushes dream with several ruined buildings and plenty of vegetation for springing traps.

Once 64 bit servers are properly implemented, I hope the server cap is set to 160. I'm guessing 100 person servers will be the smoothest, but 150 people would be a sight to behold
-
Don't listen to this. Military bases do spawn AKs still. But hitting them exclusively can be frustrating. Hit mil bases AND western towns AND look for heli crashes. You'll get lucky and hit an OP barracks and will have your choice of AKs and mags.
-
Small log cabins now have a good chance of spawning rifles. Don't forget to check those if you haven't found a weapon yet.
-
The AUG is a bullpup and much shorter in overall length than the M4 and AKM. While it's barrel may be similar in length to the other two, the overall weapon is made superior for CQB engagements by its inherent design. In game, this will hopefully be reflected in a better dexterity score.

DayZ Standalone Bounty: Xophor and StoneStock
Dagwood replied to cheeseburger8's topic in General Discussion
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is an old, American western film starting Paul Newman. Their hideout is called the Hole in the Wall. Damn Europeans... ;)Glad you understood the reference, MRE ninja. -

DayZ Standalone Bounty: Xophor and StoneStock
Dagwood replied to cheeseburger8's topic in General Discussion
They have M4s and you're offering an SKS as a reward? Wut? Oodles of 5.56mm rounds would make more sense for a reward. Those M4s are highly desirable. How do you expect your bounty hunters to confirm the kills? Many players immediately log out after dying to hide their identity from their killers. Most of my attempted kill confirmations give me nothing but "unidentified person has no pulse" or whatever the response it. Not trying to undermine you, just curious.
