I was unable (or ignorant of how) to use pig guys to craft a pack out of the boarskin I obtained. However, I was able to disassemble my courier bag and use the rope to accomplish the task. Are the intestines only for crafting the bow? Or is there a trick to getting them to work to make packs?

The dayz mod that many of us fell in love with only had a few persistent items. Can you explain how having all items being persistent will make the SA a different game from the mod? I agree that it definitely moves meta thinking away from "restart server, hit X spot immediately to get first dibs", but I'd like to hear your thought on how else it will effect the overall dayz experience.

Nah dude, don't listen to those guys^^ keep server hopping Christmas trees. You'll find it eventually.

People only arguing extremes makes my head hurt. Probably why moderation is such a tough thing for people to embrace. Lone wolfing should make the game harder, but not impossible. Lone wolfing won't be as effective as surviving in a group. Lone wolves won't get smashed by groups if they play smart/stealthy. You guys are so intolerant to differing opinions. Christ...

Hunting them down gives you something to do I guess. I did it for a couple of weeks. To each their own. Also, with an acog, it fits the same niche as SKS+PU but is fully automatic. Some people are also much more accurate when using red dot optics. Why you gotta be so rude?

Solution: don't double carry a gun that is intended to be carried in your pack as a secondary ;)Too soon?

What are your least favorite dayz features? These can either be features that are broken or incomplete, or they can be features that you think just shouldn't be in the game at all. Personally, the simplicity of the current medical system is one of my least favorite features in dayz. Have proper medical equipment= Successful treatment. I would hope that eventually, the medical system takes much more hands on interaction, and that recovering from near death experiences takes much longer than it does currently. And of course the current placeholder zombies. They need, and will receive, a major makeover.

Keep a machete in your backpack. Problem solved. Imagine the awesomeness of wielding an improvised bow with a long sword. Once we can craft leather clothing we'll have some cool roleplaying possibilities.

Oh I know. One of my favorite weapons in game. But I haven't had one in months as a result of it being very difficult to find and feed.

Yes, I server hop. But at least I'm not duping!

When development is further along, item degradation will be balanced, and zombies/bullets/axes won't ruin our clothing so effectively. For the time being, be thankful that clothing is so prolific and we can easily replace ruined items. Also, be careful about what you put where. Keep important items in the bottom of your backpack, keep stacks of rags or bandages in different containers, and place bags of rice or stacks of less important ammunition at the top of containers, as these items seem to absorb damage quite effectively. I've had bags of rice in my trousers save me from broken legs quite a few times.

9mm, .45 ACP and 7.62x39mm are military... why?
Dagwood replied to AmazingAussie's topic in General Discussion
I apologize if I was unclear. I wasn't trying to compare the SKS to the Mosin or any of those weapons. Only similarity I was trying to highlight between all of those weapons was their geographical availability. But I do think the SKS is the most versatile of all these weapons. Personally, I prefer the SKS over the Mosin as an all purpose weapon. I'll only pick up a Mosin if I have an LRS and AK74U to accompany it. However, if I have Mosin ammo and a choice between the two weapons, I gotta go with the Mosin. Hence, why I think SKS ammo is relatively harder to find. -
Whats The Hardest Part To Find For Your Fireman Gear?

Ya I've found jackets and the pants easy enough. Never a helmet. Not even in those loot orgasm firehouses that have shelves overflowing with loot -

Dagwood replied to AmazingAussie's topic in General Discussion
7.62x39 ammo is rare-ish so that you will bother to use the repeater, blaze, Mosin, sporter, and shotguns. If SKS was easily fed, why would you bother with these other rifles? As far as pistol rounds are concerned, I find a decent amount of it all over the place. Maybe not in brick arch buildings and piano/green trim buildings, but if you check diligently enough, it will turn up. Why magazines for pistols are rarer than assault rifle magazines is beyond me. Maybe it's more "realistic"? Idk. But from a gameplay standpoint, it would make more sense for pistol magazines to be fairly common and rifle ammunition a bit harder to find. Fuckin alpher. They'll get it balanced in good time. -

Is the helmet new to 0.52? I haven't seen one yet -
Easiest way to get a SKS and PU Scope? where to go?
Dagwood replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
When you loot villages, hit every building in town. You'll find it sooner or later. Military trucks and tanks are also good places to look. If you keep heading west, you'll find one (a base) eventually. -
About these Mega Loot servers are they for real?
Dagwood replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
I'll admit, it's a good place to meet/see people. But if you want to survive for any length of time, it's not te safest place hangout. -
Whats the first thing you do when you spawn at the Beach?
Dagwood replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
Those first few avatars are the hardest to lose, I know. Keep joining mid to high pop servers and just explore and learn the mechanics. When you get bored, head to the coast and get into trouble. There is no right way to play. Experiment with different styles and strategies. It will keep the game fresh. And please don't listen to the mouth breathers that will tell you not to get attached to your gear. That attachment to your gear/character is what makes dayz great. -
Whats the first thing you do when you spawn at the Beach?
Dagwood replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
If you're new to the game, I recommend staying away from online maps and other shortcuts that are available on the intermets. When you spawn in, find a road that goes inland/uphill and follow it. Loot towns that you stumble upon. Get lost following windy roads through the hills. Loot more towns. A backpack is important for carrying things, yes. Early on, grab all the ammo for all the guns. You never know what rifle you'll end up finding first. Eat food as you find it. Most importantly, enjoy your ignorance while it lasts. Discovering things for yourself is much more rewarding than repeating what you watch on YouTube. -

Killed out of nowhere in elektro? Elektro is where survivors go to die. No matter what server you're on -
When will we see this game shift more towards survival?

What do you suggest I tear into rags when all of the gear on my body is ruined and I'm bleeding out? That face bandana has saved my life twice now. Why you gotta be such a dick, man? You used to make such thoughtful posts that I really enjoyed reading. Now you just fling vitriol feces with the rest of the forum warriors. Such a shame.

First of all, take a deep breath. It's ok if we don't agree right away. PVP=player versus player. Player kills player. Pvp PVE=player versus environment. Players is killed by environment. PVE "Learn to differentiate" how rude. Skill/loot curve refers to how different or "better" gear can affect how effective a player is at surviving or preventing other players from surviving. By watering down the loot tables with inferior gear, like pistols, it takes more time for us to find the more desirable equipment. This leads to players that survive longer generally having better gear, and being more effective at survival or in combat. And finally, this leads to those players with the better loot being more cautious to protect their stuff (assuming it is difficult to acquire). By making adequate/suitable gear easy to come by, death becomes less detrimental and gameplay becomes less authentic and unique. Yes, pistols are stupid firearms that are inferior to shotguns and rifles in nearly every way in this game. Yes, pistols would IRL be less common in a rural setting than hunting firearms. Does this mean that pistols should be uncommon and reserved for dolts that think they're cowboys? No. From a gameplay balance standpoint (which you hate for some reason) it makes more sense for pistols to be starter weapons that get replaced or complimented with superior firearms as our survivor moves up in the world. I fail to see how balancing in the form of more readily available handguns negatively affects any playstyle in anyway.

Tieable face masks can be torn into rags, and are far from useless. When I plan on playing nice and then holding people up down the road, I dress as "friendly" as possible. When I'm playing as a long term survivor, I carry military weapons and look intimidating as fuck. Come on guys, don't judge a book by its cover! And obviously this guys a canibal. Why else would he need all of those bladed weapons?
