  1. Hack my computer and watch me play bro. I'm as stealthy as they come. Crawling from town to town. Rolling across streets. I've been known to lay in the grass near helicopter crashes for hours, slicing the throats of would-be looters with my trusty can opener. I once followed a new spawn for 45 minutes making zombie noises into the mic from just out of sight. He is the most stealthiest man in the world. "I don't always play like a ninja. But when I do, it's 1pp only."
  2. Then their group becomes less effective while on that server. Suffering 50% casualties during a coastal firefight in the first hour of your session would be more of a setback than it is currently. I don't play with "clans". I play with a few IRL friends and a couple of guys I've met in game, so I don't know the ins and outs of organized clans. If 5 out of 8 players got locked from te server, my guess is those 5 would either change games or change servers, incentivizing the remaining 3 to either play less aggressively or change servers as well.
  3. Would make squads a lot more careful. If one squad mate dies, the whole group has to switch servers or continue along without bob. No more running back to your secured body to loot up quickly. It might also lead to a lot more bush camping and avoiding strangers. But when zombies are somewhat of a threat, I think players would be more inclined to help one another out to survive a run through a town or military base. Diseases would be seriously frightening. Coastal cities would be far less comical than they are now. You'd have ignorant new spawns running the gauntlet of zombies and silent dealers of death stalking them from the shadows. No more pow wows out in the middle of the street. This isn't the only game I own, so the thought of being locked out of my home server for the rest of the day isn't so terribly awful. Plus, because it seems as though this will be a private hive only feature, you will have access to numerous other servers if you're not ready to throw in the towel. Remember that the reason dayz can get our heart pumping is because of "permadeath" (no saves, start over from scratch when we die). The way I see it, this feature will just intensify that rush, and simultaneously improve immersion and subsequently player interaction. If you're worried about not being able to pvp with your buddies all night on the same server, play on servers without this feature implemented. Just remember, some of us get a rush from surviving intense situations, not just from killing others.

I think i am turning into a KOS type...

Gotta read their voice and body language. Don't trust completely ungeared players. Drop them some food, point them in the right direction, then move on.

Mind sharing what you have for trade on the 1pp hive? There's hardly any 1pp traders on here anymore :(

Scopes for AUG and Winchester model 70

CR527 needs a scope. Mosin needs only PU scope. Correct magnifications on scopes would also be fantastic. Unless you're facing an M4 with an ACOG. Then we'll all be screwed.
  7. What if you could only join severs for a limited amount of time after restart before they became locked? This would hopefully give public servers a private hive feel. I think the biggest change with this implementation would be the death of ghosting and rampant server hopping (except for unlocked servers, which would be a death trap around military bases after restart). If this was coupled with centrally controlled day/night cycles it would help provide the dynamic experience that so many of us desire. So let's say the server restarts and it is 4:00PM in game time. If the server restarts every 8 hours (I wish) the server would restart at midnight. Players would only be able to join the server between 4:00PM and 5:00PM in game time. After that one hour period, the server would become locked and you would only be able to join the server if you left it within the last hour and joined no other server. There are plenty of drawbacks and flaws to this roughly outlined change in how servers would work in dayz. With that being said, I'd like to hear your thoughts and/or objections.

Weapon tier list. Best and worst?

Mosin with LRS and silenced AK74U is best combo in game currently, hands down. Long range killing capability coupled with a silenced assault rifle is pretty killer. Plus, you don't have to worry about all the double carrying nonsense. A close second would be a properly outfitted M4. It is a very versatile weapon in dayz and has no real need for a sidearm, freeing up space for dope and beer. @deathlove AFAIK neither AK74 can mount the PSO. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. I agree, servers would need to have staggered restart times. And the in game time of day on those servers would also need to be staggered. But if there are limited servers to choose from, the population will be more concentrated, counteracting the tendency of players to gear up on multiple empty servers before logging into a full server for player interaction.

Fair enough. Server hopping, or stoping it, is more important to some than others I guess. Can you explain how this would prevent players from staying on the same server for longer? I think part of the problem right now is that it is too easy to find/access servers without any incentive to stick around. Other than greater inconvenience joining servers, I can't think of a major drawback to this feature.

What does having a limited selection of servers to choose from when you take a break from your oh so important life have to do with anything? Everquest?

Who said you couldn't respawn on the same server after you died? While that, on it's own, is an interesting idea for private hives, I don't think it would work in conjunction with what I was talking about in my OP. So you would still have freshspawns storming onto the beaches, they just wouldn't be doing so later in the server "day" unless they just died on the same server. I think that implementing this mechanic would give public hive servers more of the closed population feel that private hives have. So if you're on a server 4 hours into the restart period, you don't have to worry about players logging in the areas you just cleared. Would make locking down entire towns an achievable feat at the least. It would also turn sessions into chapters of a somewhat believable character's life, instead of the plane jumping cyber warriors we play today.

    Odd building... unique?

It's in a town SE of Zelenogorsk and it's on the west side of gorka. Found a bus parked in there during the mod days.

Would make hold-out weapons like the derringer or combat knife more interesting.

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!

How do you guys think a scoped CR527 with a scope will affect gameplay? For one, I think snipers will be less common. Or, at the least, many of them will only be able to chamber the rifle as the magazines are currently quite uncommon. If movement speed/agility isn't reduced, getting a long range kill with the CR527 will be quite difficult, as the 7.62x39 round doesn't have the stopping power of the Mosin, and follow up shots will be required on moving targets. A Mosin with a PU versus a scoped 527 would be a pretty decent match up I think.

    Why even persist?

So you're saying that persistence, rather than loot respawning universally with every restart, is good, right? Cause weapons and food respawning is going to happen, no matter what. And to address the over abundance of firearms, like you mentioned, the devs are implementing a central hive economy or something to control the availability of upper tier items. As far as hoarding run of the mill guns and equipment, idk what can be done about that. But it will hAppen with or without persistence. I would argue less easily with persistence than without.
