It's sad we need threads like this. Or maybe we don't, because the people who would break the OP's guidelines don't do it out of ignorance. I do not DC while being shot, and I don't DC to avoid other players. The only exception would be inmediately after logging on, if I notice someone unreasonably close (real example, crawling noises under the same tree I'm at), I tend to DC and remove myself from the equation. However, if I have to leave my computer for any RL reason, I will disconnect. Depending on the urgency I'll move more or less out of danger, but I'll disconnect. I'm sorry about that, but I would do the same if there was a proper log off timer. I have done it in the middle of EVE Online fleet battles, knowing my ship would sit there for the whole 15 minutes (amazingly, I lived every time).

Invisible walls suck, even if they are implemented with "kill timers". It should be easy to deal with the offmap camps via the save mechanic. Just clip any coordinates outside the map to the closest on-map point. So yea, you are free to drive your car 30km off map and save it there. But on the next server reboot, it will be right on the edge 30km away. -

It's the only thing that brings variety and gets the adrenaline going. So you have a gun, ammo, water bottles, knife/hatchett/matches. What's left? You can survive in the woods pretty much forever, but that's boring. You can hoard gear until you have 20 tents with spares of every gun in the game and all the vehicles in the server. Sounds pretty boring, and the looting spots are nearly always the same, except for PVP interactions. Or you can hunt other players and avoid getting killed by them. This brings the most variety. Each engagement will be different, and you run the greatest risks. Even if/when some end-game content gets added, you can bet the most fun of it will revolve around PVP.

They fixed the really bad tent duping in 1.7.5, when you practically couldn't put up a tent without duping it five times over. AFAIK, duping tents now requires some premeditation and a server reboot.

I'm starting to think you only get bandit kills in self-defence. I've killed people who had just murdered others and got a murder. The only time I got a bandit kill was after I got shot, returned fire, and killed the guy. -
You should tell that to the two guys he killed, who were in two of the best spots for sniping people looting the military camp.

Epic leeroy enfield is epic. That 3:30-3:31 cut is around one minute missing. That's a long time to look at the menu screen or whatever.

Indications of banditry might reassure survivors to not shoot on sight.

Or rob, threaten and capture each other. In that situation, maybe you'd prefer to steal from them and then leave them alone so you can steal from them again later. But in DayZ, if you kill them they respawn and you can kill them again later with more gear. And I'm sure if you tried to play highwayman and shouted "Your gold or your life!" most people would logoff before you got to the second "your". Or they would shoot you, since our characters are always moving with their guns raised. Killing on sight is the only effective way to play bad guy. -
Yes, just shift+click anywhere on the map (requires a map). I think it's disabled on some servers.

You do realize, admins don't have any more ingame powers than you do? The only things they can do is kick/ban players and restart the server.

You people fail at timezones, or you are all trolling. Can't decide which. No no you do not understand. GMT+0 is currently 2:32 right now. Going by standard is not the correct way :Facepalm: As I write this, it's 1:35 pm GMT. The UK is currently in daylight savings time, so they are GMT+1. -
I work together with friends every day. People I know out of this game and I can trust. You can make the zombies as hard as you want, we will keep working together and shooting anyone who isn't us if we get the chance.
