    Aah I see now we're going to try and change the argument here are we since yours is getting a little thin? We're talking about accuracy of the rifle, not squads or groupings but how accurate the rifle is, which is accurate and not a "CQB weapon accurate to 200m" Regardless of what you are aiming at, if you can hit it at 300m or 400m or 200m it can be hit again at those ranges. It also depends on the situation, adrenaline pumped hands or calm, "i'm in no danger" type of hands - what rounds are coming your way and how much time you have to aim. Since we're talking DayZ here, taking out a zed or person should not be too difficult. I have one in game, I've yet to use it (Actually i can't stand the thermal scope) but what I hear it's an inaccurate POS.

    Bullshit - are you talking completely out your ass? Now it's good for 300m? what happened to 200m - have you actually fired it because when I did my training most of us had no problems hitting targets out to 300m. Here let me quote you from the British Army website The barrel length is 51cm - the reason it looks shorter is because of the bullpup configuration. When you're talking about effective in combat you're referring to getting as much fire downrange to increase the chances of hitting a target. Shooting in combat is WAY different than shooting on a range. That's why you lay down fire to suppress and hopefully kill the enemy, not because the bullet goes spastic after 200 frikkin meters. I referred to your other hand because in CQB, being able to use your left shoulder is preferable in some situations (in fact for every right hand corner u go around). A bullpup is useless for this so "designed for CQB" doesn't make a lot of sense. EDIT: In terms of arma, the rifle should be perfectly accurate to 600m or more.

That doesn't even make sense Regardless of what your section leader said, the weapon IS perfectly accurate to far greater distances than what your say - I know - I've fired it and hit things way beyond what ur touting as it's "effective range" I also question your "Designed for CQB" - it's a bullpup configuration - ever needed to use the weapon in your left hand? Have fun with a face full of red hot casings in your face.

    Do bullets go through those fir trees u hide in to loose zeds? I seem to shoot out from them and find they aren't hitting sometimes?

    No you can't otherwise how were we hitting targets quite easily on the range at 300m then with iron sights? SUSAT is a x4 optic so you next post doesn't even make sense LOL 200m

    What?? The intended purpose IS to be overpowered - that's why a sniper and spotter team can own an area or stop an entire platoon from moving and then call in an airstrike to take them out. That's kind of the point of a sniper - so yes, they are overpowered as they are intended to be otherwise armies wouldn't employ them.

    Snipers are over powered - that is the fucking point of them. There are no balancing issues - if you want balance then grab a sniper rifle and sit on a hill - there, now you're balanced. "But I want to run around electro killing people!!!" AAhhhh so basically you just want PVP - screw the zombie's and the premise of the game. In fact most of you would probably be better off joining a pvp server with just weapon crates and have the action centered solely around cherno/electro - there are arma servers out there that cater for this.

    the L85 is perfectly accurate in RL (450m with Iron Sights, 650m with the SUSAT (sight unit small arms trilux IIRC). I know because I used to bulls-eye swamp-rats with it back home.

    Arma already supports this. You can get shot in the arm and it affects your aim - not sure if dayz implements it differently. BTW - a lot of things mentioned in this thread already exist in the ACE mod (weight, injuries) Personally once the SA get's released, Rocket should start a new zombie game and make a new engine and add all this shit in. It can be "Dayz 2" and won't suffer the constraints of the arma engine - they could call it the zombie apocalypse engine or something. The Ai would be fixed to work as envisioned, the inventory system the same as well as the map (which could be made a lot more atmospheric and have things like tunnels, caves, sewers). A shit ton of more items to find and use, maybe even make it that you can set up workshops just to make things though this option can be pretty much limitless and become stupid. Arma is a great place to start, but I really hope that isn't where it finishes.

    That is a real solution but failing that - it isn't up to me to come up with a solution - it's a little thing called "integrity" - you either have it or you don't. "OMG you don't have a solution??? HAHAHAHAA ur argument fails!!" shouted in the campest voice I can imagine. But - straight off the top of my head increase the loot timer to 30 minutes and see how that works. Remember this is an alpha so we need to be testing these things to find what works well. Obviously it can't be too long because that would affect other players (the ones that have no patience) because if it were say 2 hours, then people would have to scavenge a lot longer to find things. That would change the dynamic of the game entirely, meaning a person, or persons with a water bottle, matches, hatchet and hunting knife is king as now gear is a lot rarer - you have these items then looting becomes easier. Without them you could very well end up dying. Of course, this would then have a bearing on how fast u get thirsty/hungry - see it's not just a simple case of " well what's the solution?" it's a case of sitting down and going through what you know and what you have to bring about the game you wanted to create but also to some degree listening to your audience - but then it boils down to being what you want, to create something YOU want or doing it for the money (Personally, if I was a billionaire I would make the games I wanted and have them play exactly how I liked it and fuck off if u don't like it - which you would btw because they would be awesome and I'd be ur living god!!!) Anyway it's nice to see u agree we need a solution to the issue and if the dayz team want me onboard helping them out then I'll happily throw in sometime however as you can see, it's something that needs careful planning.

We all know how the loot spawns - we're not arguing that or that when forced to farm objects u are left with no alternative. Search for words such as "Barracks", "I'm a cock", "You're a cock", "Everyone's a cock", "Fuck you" and "Asshole" - I think we covered those in most posts (who knows, maybe i made some up like your argument) Oh and have some beans you'll need them! :)

    OP your point 2 I'm having troubles with - there is nothing you "need" on them that you can see. The only thing you truly need in dayz are matches, hatchet, a hunting knife and a brain. I have yet to see what I would define as a single bandit. Just murderers. ban·dit (bndt) n. 1. A robber, especially one who robs at gunpoint. 2. An outlaw; a gangster. 3. One who cheats or exploits others. 4. Slang A hostile aircraft, especially a fighter aircraft. So clearly, no Bandits exist on Dayz so we can all drop that title - Psycho's or Murderer's is what they act like (however I guess at a stretch you could say Hackers are Bandits (3)?) I would love to get held up at gunpoint and go through all that. That's banditry. What we have right now is pathetic.
