It is not always a hacked weapon. Some private hive servers have played around with the loot for a different experience (they removed L85 thermal from their helicopter crashes before the latest DayZ patch). Just today I found an SVD (not camo) and golden AKS at a fresh helicopter crash site just after a reset. Just need to get the common ammo for it. edit: in hindsight this change to loot on a private hive is within the last few weeks, not back in August.

As far as I can tell thi is quite common at the moment. I have seen it on Lingor, Panthera and Chernarus. It doesn't single out certain people but seems to happen to most people who die, regardless as to how they have been killed. A pain for a slow loading server.

Only time I see "Player X killed by Player Y (friendly fire)" is when the victim is reloading their weapon at the time of death.

Same problem, everyone on a server was being kicked for this, even the people whose server it was. I had Failure #13, can join for a few seconds then am kicked... not sure if it's relevant but occurred after I downloaded the latest client from Batteye.

This is a really friendly server. Just waiting for the pvp to explode!

'Save Vehicle' will keep the vehicles status (e.g. damage) and gear when a server restarts. It is best not to be inside a vehicle when you log off, just incase you log back in underneath it, possibly damaging yourself or the vehicle. 'Save Vehicle' and logging off in a vehicle does not remove the vehicle from the server when you are not online, so anyone can take it/move it/steal the gear/blow it up. Only way to reduce the chances of losing a vehicle is to find a spot hidden from busy areas. Say in a dip in the terrain, surrounded by trees. Unfortunately places you might think are really good will be known by other survivors so nothing is 100% safe, just like tents. Only vehicles that are a little easier to keep out of reach are boats and helicopters. Problem being that if someone destroys them or something goes wrong with the server restart you might become stranded :P (You can pop helicopters on buildings people can't get to, but if some cruel person shoots it up while you are logged off then you get stuck on top of a very tall building ;))

I'm checking gear in the back of the truck at our camp after I've found my second ever ghillie suit, right after I found my first ever suit and died at the claws of a Zed who got a lucky knock-out on me. Truck starts up. Truck moves. I shout "Stop" on TS, I have my head crushed, knocked back a fair way into a tree and bleed out as some of my team look for my body. Someone forgot to mention they were about to change the trucks position. (At least I got back everything except for my Ghillie, which after a month or so still haven't reacquired).

Also appears to have killed every single Zombie on the server! Quite funny, but rather annoying :)

Name: TOG | Deranger Time 11:40 (GMT) Date: 15/07/2012 Server: US 470 Whilst playing on this server was killed by the structure I was at the bottom of overlooking Drozino, which exploded, killing my character outright. My mate who was just north of Zelenogorsk died instantly (no shots) just before I died, as did many people on the server at the same time. No idea of any culprit, too many people on server. Anyway of checking logs to see what this event was as its a bit strange so many people died at that instant?

Cheers for the post, had been wondering what had gone wrong. After trying to get the single player game working (Arma II - DayZ stops you from using all the weapons in Armory etc.) it busted all my launch options, then once I got it all working again I found I couldn't connect to most servers with the latest Beta patch, it's been a right mare!

Thankyou rhinoCRUNCH for looking into this and temporarily removing one of the stains in the community.

Happened again at 14:51 (GMT) on same day as above Killed all Toggers on server (19) 1 player in lobby at time of hack and for 30 minutes+ prior to hack (name Coolboynaked) When entering lobby after death Coolboynaked says he saw it happen (taken to North West airfield and dropped from height) even though we noted he had been in lobby constantly prior to hack. After most players leave Coolboynaked then enters game properly (presume to loot members).
