Just for the fun of it!

Another thing I like to see in the game is, a Teargas grenade. It causes crying, sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, pain in the eyes, temporary blindness. Why teargas, its a common thing with in the police, riot-police and military. I know they are possible because the ACE mod has those. Not all effects are possible in Arma, but shaking (caused by pain), temporary (partial or even complete) blindness and coughing (making noise) are. The effects will go away when you move away from the cloud and drinking and washing your eyes out with water from a cantine would also help to supress the effects quickly. I know that this will be mainly used in PvP and not some much in PvE, zombies would probably think that this is just another jummy flavour of the smoke grenade. The next thing would than be, gasmasks (also in ACE), to protect yourself from teargas. But the use of a mask will come at a penalty, hunger- and thirst-rate will now occur at 4 times of the normal rate. And have to be taken off if you want to eat or drink, it also limits your field of vision. So will only use it when you are using teargas or find yourself in a situation where the use of teargas by others is likely. And while we are on the police, Batons (non lethal, but a broken bone is another thing >:D ) and riot-shields perhaps.
  2. I like the idea, but it should be a lot simpler. Once you die you should get the option, respawn as Zombie or as a player somewhere on the beach. If you decide for the latter than you get a normal respawn, flashlight and such and that is it. If you respawn as Zombie than it would only be for a limited time, like say half an hour. After that you will respawn as a new player on the beach. No need to choose the type of zombie, it would be random, if you play with the mission editor than you would have noticed that they either crawl/prone, crouch (monky type) or walk with limited speed (movement keys + shift for example), once aggro-ed they go into full speed. During that half an hour as a zombie you are not allowed to pick up anything, no gear, weapons, food or whatever. You would respawn at the place where you died, and that should be great. Sneaking towards that SOB that killed you for a can of beans to take his brains. The only difference between normal zombies is that other players should notice that player-zombies don't make noise and behave differently from the AI. The last can of course be imitated to make it less obvious. If the zombie-player gets killed or the timer runs out than the zombie-player despawns and he is spawns as normal player on the beach.

    Why massive building blocking ?

And have the melee weapons, or at least the crowbar the capabillity to take them down. Make it a bit easier to take them down, toning down the spawnrate of these objects would help also. Barriers on themselves are fine, serve a purpose, but they should be at least maintained and guarded by those placed them.

    Easter Egg in Cherno ?

Just for the fun of it!

[attachment=1311][attachment=1312][attachment=1313] Did some more work on the cans by making them dirty, the other cans as well.
  10. We already have Take Backpack and Open Backpack. As for the Hatchet/Crowbar, can we have "Take as Melee" and "Take as Tool" and with the latter action it would go straight to the toolbelt. The Crowbar should have a seccond function, to demolish barbed wire concertina's.
  11. Well shadowbeing, there is a moon in Arma, but it follows realtime moon cycles, when there is a moon you can actually see things, not much so you still have to be carefull at night. The best time is actually a few nights around full moon (even when it is partly clouded), so all in all around 10 days each month night time shows something (even more so with the Gamma and brightness slider al to the right). And the best nights are around full moon. And a proposal for balancing those NVG's, limit their lifespans, they are operated with batteries, so you have to make the most of it in a limited time of use and then the batteries die.

To Rocket & the “Hardcore” crowd

Now now, a Nikka Yoichi 10 year old is excellent :9

To Rocket & the “Hardcore” crowd

There is another Whisky anology. You actually have to learn how you drink it and what you are drinking. After that it is either tasting for more and different ones or you go back to Cola. In that analogy I regard DayZ as a new edition of a very fine single malt called Arma, Arma has been maturing well, but there is now way in telling how DayZ will taste after maturing in a other casket for a bit longer. Its not exact science, a 10 year old single malt can taste fantastic, a 12 old could well on its way to be mixed with cola, but until we get there you can't see if has to be mixed with cola or that it is better to drink it pure (with perhaps a few drops of water).

    Disconnecting to avoid death

We already have those. They have eyes, ears and are mobile and pack a mean punch, also known under their more populair nicknames Zeds, Zombies or infected.
  15. As far as I know spawnrate will be tweaked. Zombies are a challenge again, sneaking into a barn has to be a lot more carefull, Crouch sneaking is not going to work as it did a while ago. So observe and figure out the best route towards the object. The shortest distance from cover towards the object or have patience and go prone and prepare for a long crawl.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update

Oke, downloaded, but going to install tomorrow. The last few update made me a bit paranoid about newly introduced bugs and flaws, so we will see tomorrow what has come up!

    Soldiers handbook :)

[attachment=1225] The Dutch version of a Soldiers handbook, the 1985 edition that I still have after all those years. All those training and lessons at bootcamp so long ago, they are still usefull in this game and can now be performed in the comfort of my own home instead in a cold and miserable part of the Netherlands. The next few pages tells about moving through the landscape, be invisible, don't let them hear you. And lots more about those basic things. Where do place your bandage package, your cantine should be filled to the rim. And yes then I had FN-Fal as primary weapon and the Carl Gustav Mk 2 as secundary, loads of fun to work with the real thing.

    Soldiers handbook :)

I can tell you that guarding a disused railbridge somewhere on a cold. windy and rainy night in november in the Netherlands is an experience that that would make the most of us feel miserable. And yes it was dark as in, you could see a difference between sky and everthing else (only slightly better than in DayZ) and the assault on that bridge would not come before 5-6 o clock in the morning. After that assault it was one more day and then ... Hot shower :D

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.5

    * [FIXED] Hatchet takes up too much room (can now be transferred between toolbelt and primary slot through gear action) * [NEW] Flashlights can now be packed to toolbelt also (gear action) This ^_______^
  20. That about harvesting wood in a forrest is not new. You have to be in a forrest area, in the green patches on the map. Walk 10-20 meters into the forrest and it should work.
