    good old "Dayz feelings"

I've been seeing loads, in fact I travelled between 5 in a row earlier but little was found at them, they seem to struggle to re-spawn stuff either. Totally this. Elektro/Cherno you expext to see people, when you've trekked for 30 minutes without seeing a soul and then suddenly you hear a shot in the middle of nowhere it scares the life out of me, I agree though that people furhter north seem more cautious because they've got so far they don't want to re-spawn and probably have decent gear, that adds to the tension of an encounter. Not many f*cks are given round Cherno because people usually have just spawned so aren;t going to loose much.
  3. So going with the one person gets in, gets out then repairs, no else does antyhing rule seems best then?

    good old "Dayz feelings"

When I first started playing I kept reading that NW airfield and places like Stary were really dangerous populace places but I regularly ever see people there, most people can;t seem to bothered to trek north. I noticed yesterday that my mate was wearing a hero skin, he said he didn't notice it and didn't know what it was so I asked him what his humanity was and it turned out it was 21k! He had no idea how he had managed to get it that high as he doesn't go out of his way to help people.

    More sandbox Pvp then survival?

Personally I think the zombies are fine, they shouldn't be doing more damage at the moment when they can do the crazy unpredictable stuff like aggro through walls or the completely random detection they have. They are still also a threat, like someone else above said if you don't pay them enough care you'll be knocked out with one eating your brains. I'm all for strong zombies that you shouldn't mess with but they are stupid creatures and therefore should have predictable behaivour, They currently don't and that's why they shouldn't be strong. The game shouldn't really be about the zombies because then it's just a single player game and your relying too much on AI. The real fear in this game is the other players in my opinion because they are so unpredictable and variable, something the AI can never match well enough. Some players will kill on sight, some will run, some will talk, some will do a combination of all 3, you never know where they are or what their intentions are. That is what makes the game, not the zombies. If you focus too much on the Zombies then you will either end up with a situation of super zombies, rediculous OP AI that makes the game no fun and just a grind or for some people the zombies will always be too weak and not enough threat.

    Some little secrets (tactics)

My main lessons learned so far are never hesitate, the long wayr ound is usually the best and every second is precious in high populace areas.

New patch coming soon to dayz

Yeh I don't mind more powerful zombies if they don't f*ck about so much, hits from too far away, weird hitmarkers, taking deadly damaging but then still conitnuing to hit you then dieing, attacking through walls, the zig zagging, ramdomly spawning on you whilst you are in a bush in the middle of nowhere. Zombies in theory should be stupid & predictable but at the same relentless and powerful.

FInd the public servers, I just used Dayz commander set it to "official" and searched from there. It also gives you some flexibility to move about between servers if you enocunter hackers because your gear applies accross all of them basic vanilla DayZ has a lot less vehicles and thigns are much scarcer than most private hives. You also only start with a bandage, drink, can and painkillers. As for the zombies I think their damage is being upgraded in the next patch. i don't know how they were before but I still try to avoid them, they aren't scary but they are still a threat mainly to their glitchyness, their hits/damage seem variable, they zigzag and teleport, they get you through walls and whether they aggro you also seems random, some you can literally walk past some yet others will run accross the field to you.

The first time you got good gear

About my third or 4th time playing (and only about a month or so ago) I had died in Cherno and got a Kamenka spawn. So I after a little internet checking seeing some advice to head north as it's a fairly quiet route to the NW (where I hadn't been yet). I stopped off at various places picked up some ok gear, probably had an enfield I decided to stop at Stary first, as I ot near I spotted the smoke plume of a heli crash. I then spotted a second, there were two either side of the road. I went to check them out and at the first one I found a body, a ghillied sniper who had the lot, DMR, M9SD, NV etc, I also found another 4 decent primary wepaons at the the two chopper sites, luckily I had a ent and I ran off into the woods to hide all the gear. I remember being sh*t scared every time I made the tent run to stash all this kit. Once it was all in in I logged off feeling pretty pleased. Next day some mates joined me on the server and I proudly told them about my hall, they were all heading north to pick up the sutff when they found a hacker crate so ended up haing everything you could ever need AS50s, ghillies etc.
  10. Good video, I actually used some of your tips last night, although I was passing on the advice to a mate who ahd jsut met another player who wnated to join up with us. I told him about keeping an eye on the guy aiming down sights and to try and not let him stand behind him. According to my mate there were no obvious signs that this guy was going to betray him. He eneded up giving him a lift accross the map to the NW airfield on his ATV, The guy wnated to join our group but seeing as we had 3 vehicles at the time and were close to fixing a heli we decided it best he didn't.

    Heli Experts

Had this problem last night, can anyone tell me is it a bug that even after repairing everything it still stays red? Also the wiki page says you need 6 scrap metal, do you have to put one on each part or does it just really need you to add 6 scrap metal to it? We must have put like 10 on but all the sections still showed red, then we refulled it and all the fuel must have fallen out cos 2 bits of glass were still broken.

    Skype

I don't. It's a game and it's meant to be fun, playing with mates adds to this, meeting up trying to work out where each other is etc. Game would be worse if you couldn't do this and I along with many other wouldn't bother playing. Hardly an unfair advantage either, everyone can use and download it and unless you are a total loner you can always hook up with friends to play.

    SA: start out 'sickly'

Nope. Most new players will not bother playing, the game already has a hard start, in this situation zombies will kill you easily and you'll spend most of the game re-spawning. Also other people will totally exploit this, spawn killing will just increase because you will be able to one shot people with virtually any half decent weapon. Also why the assumption you have suddenly just washed up on shore? I presume the shore spawn is to enable you to get your bearings. The zombie apocalypse has already happened and is well underway so your character has already survived through the initial stages so I don't see a reason why they would be sick and unhealthy.
  14. Don't remove them. Make them more difficult to use at range, particularly at anything above 300m. Make them also bigger zombie attractors, make sitting on ahill all afternoon sniping people a more uncomfortable proposition. I damn know if there was a real zombie apocalypse and I came accross an automatic rifle or a bolt action sniper, I'd take the assault rifle. If you are going to snipe then you have a big PvP advantage so in turn you should have a PvZ disadvantage. That way people would use snipers very rarely, they would be kept in tents/cars etc and probably used by one person in a group whilst tohers had more flexible al round weaponry.

    People shooting freshspawns

It's not really happened to me that often, certainly not straight after spawning. i'm more likely to be killed by some zombie gltiching bad luck as a fresh spawn, Once really where I had just spawned and I heard in the side chat about a guy using a helicopter as sniping bait I spawned pretty close to the chopper and tried flanking him but didn't flank far enough and he shot me, thing is though I had a pistol and I was trying to kill him so fair enough I suppose. At the same time I didn't really care as I had no loot to loose and my next spawn put me near my mates. I'm far less cautious as a fresh spawn because I have no gear, if I die I might get a better spawn and stumble on some decent loot near that spawn, Like one time where I spawned in Cherno I got killed pretty much straight away, next spawn on the east coast I went inland, went to factory and found a truck with some decent loot. At the end of the day you don't loose much, what like a minute or two to re-spawn, if the guy is shooting fresh spawns he's probably pretty rubbish at the game, take your new spawn gear up somewhere safe, flank round him and shoot the guy in the back. Shoot on sight is different, it;s situational, I think in the OP's situation, you were a risk to those guys, They could have I suppose talked to yout to tell you to leave the area but i most cases in my limited experience so far any hesitation is costly and seeing as I'm not too good yet with the aiming/PVP I need every advantage I can get. If a guy doesn't see me and he's going away from me or not going where I'm going I'll let him go, however if he's scouting out the area or going where I'm going then I'll use my advantage to kill him. Talking generally seems pointless, 1 person in 10 will respond, 1 in a 100 will actually be freindly and correspond. I recently was in the same said tower at Balota looting two dead bodies, a guy started coming up the stairs, he only had an axe. I went on chat and told him I had an M4 and would shoot him if he came up but if he went out onto the airfield where I could see him and let me leave the area he could live and told him there was an AK on one of the bodies I'd leave for him. So what does he do? He comes up the stairs swinging his axe at me, he dies and I hide all 3 bodies. If he waited a few minutes he could have got decently geared up but no he gets the blood lust.
  16. I've been playing the game about two weeks, think only two of my deaths have been to sniper rifles both were in more fair PvP battles. It only takes a bit of reading up to know that going to Cherno/Elektro is a risk on a populated server. However, for me I think sniper rifles are a bit of a balance issue, too much of a gap between the haves and the have nots. If you are looking to build a player base and encourage new players then they need looking at. Personally I question about how they fit the survivor aspect, i.e the core theme of the game. Sniper rifles in real life are very rare plus difficult to use, I can't see the average surivivor having the ability to use them, but my main issue is that we are in a zombie appocalypse, I just can't see people protecting themselves in a zombie apocalpse with a high powered rifle with limited rounds and high powered scope. Nor can I see them sitting in a hill sniping people. The rifles and the ghillie suits encourage this new player spawn killing gameplay because it's very easy, so maybe it needs to be made harder. More zombies aggroing you or in bigger numbers reacting to such loud noises? Maybe some 'marksmen' skills to build up before you can use the rifle at certain ranges etc? I also think being a bandit should be harder, in game it's very easy to play like a complete scumbag because it's a game. If we suffered a real life apocalypse you would get plenty of shoot on site types, but I still think most people would strive to work to together, would strive to re-build etc. Most people even under extreme circumstances would not murder other people in cold blood, but this is a game so it has no consequences so people will play this way. So I'm thinking that other playstyles should be encouraged more, a development on the hero skin I suppose, Bandits who murder people would become notorius and more easily indentifiable. You could for example have it that due to word of mouth the known repeated killers get noticed more and their approx location might show up on the map when they are near town etc. Heroes could say get some access to some cool gear as reward for helping the community. At the moment Banditry is the more rewarding playstyle, you get better kit and as a result you are rarely threatened. It needs to be made harder and hero play needs to be rewarded more. However you can't take out PvP.
