You said I hadn't read your first post so I went through piece by piece and it showed exactly what I previously said so where are these assumptions I apparently made?. It has your agenda all over it and your superiority of the playstyle you want all over it. At no point does it show any balance to other peoples points of view, which is clearly shown by your ridiculous 'statistics', and your bracketing of people as COD kiddies that want a deathmatch. We're obviously playing massively different servers or you are exaggerating again and I suspect it's very much the latter. Zombies are supposed to be retards, they are infected human beings (key point there) who are solely focused on one thing which is spreading the violence. They react to very simple base level instincts which are sound and sight. You seem to want to fight a load of Predators. Endless supplies of guns? From where exactly? Guns re-spawn yes otherwise new players to the server get completely screwed some realism has to be dropped for gameplay elements. Top end military spec on standard servers is still very rare, I've been to the NW airfield with a few mates several times over the last few weeks and still not found anything more than an M16, gund which are useful if you accidentally Agrro a horde of Zombies which in places like that can happen. Yeh a lot of people KOS, so what? It's got nothing to do with the Zombies it;s how they wand to play and they would anyway. There are other end games out there and other ways of playing and far more than your stupid 1% do it. This is just flat out wrong, what the f*ck are all these medic clans out there, or the vehicle repairers or the bambi rescuers or the woodland survivors how do these people play and enjoy the game if "all the mod is privding us with is tools to kill each other"? Because I don;t want super Zombies I'm forcing everyone to be bandit? What? My god you have a very narrow view of this game. 50/50 balance puts too much focus on the AI, AI can never replicate the experience you can get with a multiplayer game.

I don't get all the complain about this game on the forum ?
tajjuk replied to iPewPewU's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What's this fascination with Russian weapons? Isn't Chernarus for a start based on an area in the Czech Republic, I'm sure there is just as high a chance of seeing Nato weapons as Russian ones. The standard Czech Army assault rifle is the CZ-805 Bren which uses NATO rounds, the Mk-48 which would use Stanage and their Sniper rifles include the Sako TRG. Also I'd like the standalone not to be recognisable to any country if possible which adds to the imagination of it, The Chernarus map is because the Arma 2 game has it, in reality the Zombie Armgageddon could happen everywhere. I'd like to think people could maybe think they were running around their local town not some ficticious Russian one. -
I read your post and responded as I see it, you can backtrack your comments if you want but I read each point. You started by basically championing Day Z+ and your tone instantly downgraded everyone who hadn't played it to have not experienced your vision of 'true hardcore dayz'. You then follow this up with some made up percentages because you know statistics always add weight to an argument. So 1 out of every 2 players is now suddenly friendly on this game mode. Which basically says Day Z+ is better than all the other version where clearly only 1 in 100 players would ever want to team up. So on the one hand you have 99 bandits out of 100 apparently compared to magical Day Z+ where it;s 1 out of 2. LOL You have very early set your stall out here towards the teaming up aspect, it's clearly your preference and it's clearly an appeal of Day Z+ with the stronger zombies forcing players to work together. Hence my point about play styles, you clearly want stronger zombies so less people shoot at you. You don;t so it so many words but that you get reading between the lines. Key word there need,if that's not forcing game styles I don't know what is. You are championing a game mode where lone wolfing is very hard and in most cases players apparently then worked together. Based on your statistics, all the 'noob' bandits would be around 50% of the community cos apparently 99% of people are bandits in the normal game but due to being scared to death in Day Z+ they suddenly become friendly helpful players. I tried to illustrate here that a LOT of people in normal Day Z servers don;t shoot on sight and have varying PvP experiences but you've already decided most bandits are noobs, most people become bandits because the zombies aren't a big enough threat. Which is both wrong but also very simplistic. You then go back in to condescending mode again assuming everyone who has argued against stronger zombies wants some sort of easy mode FPS. Well, this looks down on about every other type of play style, you've basically elevated 'hard core' survival to being the only way DayZ should be played and told everyone who thinks differently to shut up and lumped everyone who doesn't play this way as KOS new player snipers. Why? It's a game, at the end of the day it's meant to be fun. if its ultra hardcore and a chore to play most people won;t play and you'll sit on empty servers. This is YOUR vision of the game, don't pass it off as anything else, the number of different servers out there that have various settings massively prove this statement wrong, a lot of people don't want the game this way. I don;t want the game to be about the zombies, because that's a boring AI single player game and it isn't what has made the game fun for me so far and kept me playing. The PVP has. Again showing your anti-bandit agenda here, but also clearly wrong. Fire a sniper in Cherno, and compare the zombie reaction to giving someone a blood bag. Yes, but it will also make the game about the zombies and make it a chore to play, the cool PvP moments will be lost..

I don't get all the complain about this game on the forum ?
tajjuk replied to iPewPewU's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Is this not a game and therefore for entertainment purposes? Balance over realism every day of the week and Fun over realism every day of the week. Server options and modding should allow people to have the game they want, if people want an ultra hard core survival experience then I'm sure there will be servers to cater for it. if people want to spawn with As-50s then I'm sure there will be a server to cater fro it. The standard 'vanilla' game should be somewhere in the middle, not too hardcore, not too easy, I hate the realism argument because people only ever use it for certain aspects. You can't fix a leg with just a shot of morphine, yet it's not really a fun gameplay element to break your leg and wait 6 months for it to heal up. It's all about getting the gameplay right. Guns shouldn't be removed, in fact more should be added IMO as I like the variety, at the same time I don;t want to walk into a barracks and see 50 different weapons lying around. In the vanilla on public hive's finding NVGs or AS-50s is very rare I'm find with that, some aren't so you get servers where there are more of them, then some servers where they would never appear that's each to their own. -
Private servers prove that the average players don't know shit about gameplay
tajjuk replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This, if people want to play like this why can't they? Especially on their own servers. Some people don;t have time to spend 4 hours looking for some beans, they just want to have a fun evenings game in a cool game, if you make the standlaone game ultra hardcore a lot of people won't play it and the game will eventually die a death. Why can't you have on one side servers where starting loot is really low, zombies are tougher, military kit is harder to find, vehicles are very rare etc. to suit the hardcore survival players and then have the complete opposite for those that want it? The standard game should be somewhere in the middle. Why the f*ck should we all play the way a few people want it played? A lot of people here remind me of the old battlefield forums, Mordor as some people called it who were all resistant to change and basically it was their way or no way. I will never understand this attitude of people disliking different types of gamers when modding and PC severs gives you the opportunity to cater for most tastes, yet people still moan. -
Words like tosh spread to mind when I read this but I'll try an respond in a reasonable manner. One Zombie knocks out in two hits? Laughably absurd, are all the infected professional boxers all of a sudden? That's a joke suggestion and certainly shouldn't be the norm as it just not logical it goes back to super zombies again. These are infected people from all walks of life some will be women yet people here are saying that they should be super fast, super strong, have super visions it's just absurd. Zombies should ONLY be dangerous in large numbers, hence as Old Fossil points out those that are careless and cause lots of noise will suffer the consequences. As for teaming up shoudln't that be the players choice? Your forcing gameplay on people, forcing them to co-operate, going lonewolf should be a viable option as any way people choose to play. In fact in theory it should be a lot easier to avoid zombies on your own. It's fine to have server options where the zombies are 'super' if that's what some people want but it certainly should not be the default setting.Different flavours for different people. Like I said if you want to fight against super hard AI zombies play left 4 dead or something on the max level, Yes the game is labelled as a survival game, but it's a game, it's meant to be fun and I would reckon for a lot of people scavenging around in the woods hunting isn't that fun, what's really fun is this massive open world you have where you don;t know what's round the next corner, where you have no real story or plan deciding your fate, where the unpredictability of other players going through the same experience can make each day different. That's something the AI zombies will never be able to achieve and it's why they shouldn't be a major focus in this game. Zombies are Day Z's environment, the background, the setting. PvP is what gives Day Z it's soul. As for the rest of it, I play on Vanilla public servers with very few vehicles and standard starting kit. The only As-50s I've seen have been hacked in. I've been playing pretty much every day for a couple of months now and I think I've killed two people, both of whom attacked me first. I've also had several conversations with other players and teamed up with them. My PvP experience has been very varied. I agree to an extent, at the moment they are maybe more in the nuisance bracker than the threat bracket. However I'm not keen on changes to their abilities until their randomness is sorted out. If I know the line, then I'm happy for zombies to be more powerful, if I know I need to sneak aroudn them, not fire within this distance etc. etc. that's fine they can do some more damage aggro longer etc. At the moment though I follow the rules and the Zombies break them, they will aggro across fields for no reason, they will go through doors, through wall, they'll hit from 10ft away. They are currently far too random and unpredictable, basically too glitched IMO for them to be stronger. Once they aren't as glitched I'll happily have them a bit more dangerous but they should always be a background threat, something that will threaten the careless, the loud, the brash etc.
-
They are just random little SOBs at the moment. Aggro distance and detection doesn't seem to follow any set rules, you can literally walk up to one and no f*cks are given, yet as you say they can aggro with no real LOS or hearing range from like 100m away. Add in the zig zagging, the stop start attacks, the hits from like 10 feet away, the attacking (and aggro) through walls and their complete lack of respect for doors and you have some really annoying zombies. Hopefully the next patch eases some of these issues out because they are getting more health and double attack power.
-
Cheers, I've only been playing Day Z about a month or so now and mainly stick to the public hives where vehicles are much rarer so they have tended to be the focus of my play. Spending ages getting loot, particularly for choppers only for a bug to stop it working is really annoying so wanted it to stop happening to others. If you manage to find a chopper, collect all the loot for it and avoid being killed by other players the least you deserve is the chance to fly that bad boy.
-
Another guy who thinks his opinion is everyone's opinion. If everyone wanted side chat gone, it wouldn't be there. So clearly everyone does not want it gone. Please learn to that YOUR opinions are just that and not gospel. Anyway.... On the thread I'm not sure how you can't that as a good deed in any sense. You killed a guy who was not really posing any threat to you because you had him massively out gunned and out numbered and then shot at him again when he was getting his stuff back. Then gave him some loot you didn't want. Not shooting someone on sight hardly counts as a good deed. Also I call Shenanigans on the 3 G36c in your backpack.
-
Totally Disagree. That's wrong on so many levels. Firstly from a logic standpoint they aren't the undead, they are infected human beings, they should have human characteristics not super human strength or speed. They should only really be a threat in numbers, that is their strength along with persistence. Their speed is fine and I agree with Miffy their unpredictability (the zig zagging, the attacking through walls, the random agrro levels, the hits from distance etc.) is very annoying and needs fixing. These are simpleton creatures with one fixation, they are therefore stupid, more stupid than animals and should act that way. Their lust for flesh determines their actions and they will pursue it as their goal regardless of what happens to them, i.e taking damage, falling to their death etc. Day Z's appeal is not the zombies, it's the post apocalyptic world and the players in it, how they react and the freedom the environment gives to players to choose how they want to play that appeals. Zombies should never be the main threat because that takes away the multiplayer element, you'll end up with a boring singleplayer zombies game. I also disagree about the threat, I see plenty of well tooled up players that have clearly died to Zombies, I've almost been killed several times by being too careless near them. Plus they play a huge role in PvP, As an example me and a mate were stalking a sniper on the NW airfield who had shot at our chopper. Both of us were extremely careful not to aggro any Zombies because it gives away your position, plus taking Zombie hits during a firefight can quicken your death. They need to fix the zombie weirdness to make them more predictable. They also need to make the zombie's more peristent, you should have to work harder than run through some trees to loose them. Faster, Stronger, super visions etc, is not needed and will make the game silly IMO.

Tip: ATV from a distance can easily look like a rock so if you put in amongst some rocks it will be difficult to spot from a distance. Also all camouflage is about breaking up recognisable silhouettes as that is what people spot first and draws their eye, so think about that when finding a hiding spot.

What's the dumbest thing panic has ever caused you to do?
tajjuk replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not my panic but yesterday I was in our Mi-17 sat in on the runway of NW airfield. I have to explain that we aren't usually that reckless that we would just park a completely fresh chopper on the airfield. We had been there a while and had previously approached very carefully and scouted the area out (My two mates had parachuted in from a high altitude, I then went of for a little while out of hearing distance from the airfield and then came back later, circled a few times etc. before landing. There were only about 8 or 9 people on the sever so by this point we were pretty sure we were alone by this point) Hence my lack of caution at this point, my mates were picking up some loot when I spotted a player approaching the chopper. I quickly asked their location and this confirmed this was another player. He starting looking at the side of the chopper, presumably to see what needed fixing (obviously thinking it was a fresh spawn). I couldn't get out of the pilot seat because i'd get out on the same side as him plus we'd suffered a bug a few times where getting out leaves you still stuck under the chopper. So I turned the engine on. The guy panicked, he just stood up and ran full pelt across the airfield right in the open, through loads of zombies, about half way he turned and fired one sniper rifle shot at the chopper, which missed and then carried on running. He was an easy target for my mate on the otherside of the runway. If he'd thought about it the safest thing he could have done was get in the chopper, what he did was the most stupid thing he could have done. Even running to the much closer hanger side of the airfield would have been more sensible. -
Am I the only person that really doesn't care for 'base building'?
tajjuk replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's your preference though. As many have pointed out the game should be about many flavours. If you want to base build then as long as it works with what everyone else is doing people should be allowed to base build. If you want to survive in the woods with a tent hunting then that is your preference but it shouldn't be what the whole game is about. There will be risk/reward with all methods. I don't think you should have invincible bases, if they have locks/doors etc then within reason they can be broken into, on the flip side they shouldn't be so easy to walk up to a tent and pick up a load of gear. Locks and the like would add a whole new playstyle - thieves, fid lockpicks for simple locks, digital lock picks or explosives etc for harder locks doors, sneaking in bases in darkness to steal a clan's precious loot or even vehicles. For me that adds more options and that can only be a good thing. With big bases you could end up with big clan v clan battles Mad Max style, roaming bandit hordes and the like. There is nothing wrong with stockpiling either, things in game re-spawn. Guns will always need more ammo, players will need more food, stores can always be raided. People in a real life apcolaypse situation would stock pile. -
The many chopper crashes you could be right, not sure when the server had re-started. It was a public hive one though and I had been playing on it recently. The trucks were on a private hive yes, could have been hackers or admin spawn in, It wasn't naturally occurring (think it was a 200 vehicle server) as they were rammed full of loot in very high numbers, plus there was a weapon crate there full of every weapon in the game. It was either a a hacker base or an admin base because no group of players can bring in weapon crates like that. The helicopters, trucks etc. suddenly appearing in a field was definitely hacking, the kid was even bragging about it.
-
The title is a bit misleading, I thought it was going to be about what loot was worth taking. A guide is needed for new players about that, like for example razors are currently pointless loot.

Want to know why banditry is rampant?
tajjuk replied to ThirdSinger's topic in New Player Discussion
How is it an 'end game', shouldn't an end game require a little work? Banditry, or at least low IQ KOS banditry is stupidly easy. If you have much superior gear and experience it's a walk in the park to kill new players etc. who neither know of your presence or have the ability to fight back. Conning people, gaining trust, abducting, hold ups. That's proper banditry, requires more effort and thought than just bang, dead. Definition of Banditry - That's very different to KOS or Sniper spawn campers, doing that just makes you a mindless murderer. Bandits wouldn't randomly kill people especially if there was little reward in it. Also being a 'Hero' is a far better end game because it's far harder, mainly because people are so mistrusting, anyone who successfully pulls of bambi type rescues or the like is a far better player than your average 'bandit', not because of hat they are doing (i.ve saving people over killing people) but because of the difficulty required. -
Yeh play GMT or GMT - a few hour servers, when you go to bed so will most of the server and it;s more likely your stuff will be there. Most servers i play on are busiest from about 7pm till 11pm, When I come on about 4 ish after work they are fairly quiet.

More sandbox Pvp then survival?
tajjuk replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not everyone wants a hardcore game like you that, for me I just wouldn't play because I simply don't have that much time to invest, if it takes like 10 minutes to make a campfire then I just wouldn't bother. If I wanted the experience of making a campfire I'd do it in real life, I play games to have fun not to do chores. I find the game fun as it is. Zombies to me are a threat but not overly so, you have to be careful around them, loose some blood and you might get knocked out. Like I said in earlier posts I wouldn't mind slightly stronger, slightly more relentless zombies but only when they fix the glitchy stuff out, super zombies? no sorry, not what this game is about in my opinion. PvP will always be the real draw of this game, its where the real tension comes from. A randomly appearing super zombies that takes two people to kill it is stupid IMO, first off zombies are infected people, why they suddenly become super strong and fast when they are decayed people? Secondly that just adds a lot of random element AI bad luck to the game, it's like the NPCs on some mods that are rediculously good shots. Server options is the answer, the base game should be not far from what it is, if you play on vanilla servers loot and vehicles are not everywhere. I've yet to find stuff like ghillie suits or NVGs from normal spawns. I was delighted yesterday after finding a Coyote pack at the NE airfield that I ran back to my camp to log off just because I didn't want to loose it. From this middle ground server settings can then be tweaked to suit different tastes, loot spawns and can be toned down with zombies turned up for a more surivivor experience, or the reverse for more geared up PvP type battles. -
I've been having a few issues recently with vehicle repairing. Last night we found a car with no wheels, we added four wheels but no wheels appeared and they stayed red. Previously we found a littlebird, stuff was added carefully to the various sections that needed repairing but they still remained red? I also see various requirements for bits, some ssay 4 scrap for a chopper some say 6, some people are saying broken glass causes fuel leaks other saying it doesn't. So from what I can pick up people have said a general process for vehicle fixing- - One person fixes the vehicle.? - Said one person gets into drivers seat then gets out to 'sync' said vehicle to them.? - One part is added on to each broken (red) area, so glass onto glass 1, engine parts onto engine, wheel onto rfwwheell etc.? - when all parts are on the while thing should show repaired (green) but a fixed part will still show red? - lack of complete glass will cause fuel leak? EDIT: - Now also reading that hitting the vehicle or shooting it will sync it in to the server.? Please can people confirm on the above points, as the bugs/glitches with vehicles seems to be wasting me a lot of time and loot. I'd like to know an exact process I can follow to make sure that I will have a working vehicle for my efforts.
-
As azure said, Vanilla Dayz has very few vehicles. In most cases just one of each type on a server so finding one is a big deal or at elast fro me it is. When it eats the four tyres you've just trudged around half the map for it is very annoying! I'm not sure that's saying much. I know it's a bug I meant a consenus on how best to work around the bug. BTW Careful on the 'damage the vehicle to sync it in' plan. I tried this last night, gave it a little tap with my axe, got in 'boom' knocked out and bleeding on the floor.

http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers/geforce-experience GeForce experience, download it. It now works for Arma 2 so let it detect the game and then 'optimise' it will adjust the games graphically settings to get the best performance for you. It definitely improved my frame rate. I have a normal GTX660 and I get about 40 - 50 FPS.

Recently I seem to drift to Devil's Castle for some reason.

They are certainly still about, I've been playing for about 3-4 weeks now mianly on Public servers and I've seen - - 3 Trucks rammed full of gear plus a weapons crate all left at Factory. - One server littered with heli crash sites, like about a dozen all within easy wlaking distance (like 4 or 5 in the same field) - I've been running accross an empty field and suddenly ran into a helicopter, turned around and saw like 4 more, trucks cars etc then had some whiny american teenager scream at me to stand still but I ran off and managed to log off. - found another hacked in weapons crate in the middle of a field, took about 20 bear traps out of it and set them all around it. So yeh there seems plenty of hacking about but then if you take into acocunt the amount of time played those instances are quite rare. Like somone above said Private Hives can have bad admins, my mate and I were on one and we were driving along in our truck when we heard a chopper. It was sitting in a field so we decide drive along the edge of the field to have a look. I had jumped out a little before and hid in the treeline just in case. There were 3 guys around the chopper and they all started shooting at our truck so I cleaned two of them out and the third maanged to take off in the chopper. Turned out they were all admins, they started moaning in the side chat. I basically said to them that they fired first and they got outplayed as they all had their attention on the truck and were completely exposed. Well within like two minutes the server suspiciously re-started, when we spawned back in our truck had gone and shortly after an attack heli killed us. Only the admin could have come found us so quickly, well I sent a few side chat messages to the rest of the server saying there was no point playing on that server as the admins essentially will just cheat to win. That's just one example but their other decent severs out there with decent admins who don;t abuse their powers. I wouldn't let hackers stop you playing the game, just change server.

More sandbox Pvp then survival?
tajjuk replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm happy for them to be a bit stronger, I still don't think you can run around like a mad man in town without expecting a lot of them to trail you, or at least if I do that I seem to pick up a lot. We'll see how the 'double damage' zombies go along with the odd super strong zombie in the new patch. Again I just can't see them wandering aimlessy in a wood, if they are chasing an animal or something yes but the hordes of them that just randomly appear around some tiny shack make no real sense. I think the tree thing is fair enough, the are half decayed humans after all they aren't suddenly going to get dog like smell or cat like vision. Ok maybe you shouldn't be able to run round a building and loose them. What they should actually do is keep running in the direction they thought you were going if they loose line of sight. Meaning you have to deviate/hide to loose them rather than have them suddenly just stop cos they've run into a tree. They need to be stupid, predictable, relentless and aggressive. -
More sandbox Pvp then survival?
tajjuk replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is no real logic for Zombies to randomly appear in the woods, they are looking for food and unless they find a source of food or something of interest (such as noise, light etc.) they wouldn't be there. For them to be wandering around a forrest is a bit silly seeing as they should be working off essentially one or two basic thoughts. As for their danger, well they are AI, they can never replicate the danger other players possess, so PVP should always be the reall threat to you, zombies should be respected but at the same time you shouldn't have to fight through a horde of them to pick up some beans. Server options whould allow you to crank up things like Zombie strength etc and loot tables so you could have servers with extreme settings but is certainly shouldn;t be the default, especially at the moment. Zombies are far too glitchy and random. Once that's fixed then it's fine for them to be stronger but utnil then when they can attack you through a wall or randomly spawn on you or get hits on you when they are like 10 feet away they shouldn't be doing massive damage. The key anti-zombie strategy should be thought, Zombies don't think or plan, they just react so you should be able to plan your way around them. Current Zombie mechanics make this harder.
