What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
tajjuk replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Simply it;s not harder, iT JUST TAKES LONGER TO DO. That's not challenging that's time-consuming. Does it take any more skill, ability, thinking? NOPE. It just simply takes more time. As for the second bit it's a game, those 'cities' are ridiculous and nothing really like a city, I live in village bigger than that and it doesn't have a hospital, but it's a game you don't take everything literally. Also as I said further up depends when you think the game is set, if our character has survived for this long in a zombie apocalypse why does he start with nothing, have no place to live, no no one etc etc. All the signs in the game point to just after the even has happened not years down the line. -

Seeing as this seems to be an acceptable response, go left4dead can crank the difficulty right up if you interested in fighting superhuman AI. AI is by nature boring, hence why far more people play multiplayer games, because humans are unpredictable you just don;t know what you are going to get. Plus humans have to obey the rules of the game (unless they are hacking) The current zombies we have defy the laws of physics and are not very plausible, they are very clearly cheating AI, much like the computer predicting where you dribble in FIFA or the AI enemy soldiers knowing your exact location in any FPS campaign. That ruins the immersion and for me ruins the game. No one says this game should be 'deathmatch' or 'easy' but it damn well shouldn't be about god mode AI. Zombies are the background to this game, make them the foreground and there is no difference to left4dead or any other generic single player zombie game. Now if they gave players the option of being a zombie................... -
What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
tajjuk replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Please explain to me how making the loot tables with very low chances is making the game more challenging? That's purely time consuming nothing more. Adding the crafting system now that would be a new challenge, you would be looking for specific items, you could have some ingenuity, you would find uses for stuff you didn;t previously see valuable, people might trade for stuff more etc etc. Changing the loot tables just makes looting up longer, it makes the game more about searching the whole map, searching every spot for simple things. Fair enough make high end gear rarer but it's like saying cars should be rare, huh? like 10% of the population is left in the world there would be some items that we would be overflowing with, go into a proper real life supermarket it has enough food for thousands and thousands of people, suddenly cut that down to 100 people and they would take months and months to get through that amount. Imagine stumbling into a container port or a big storage area or one of those massive food depots. -
What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
tajjuk replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A few things:- That surely makes the assumption that you are in a later stage of the situation? For example the hospital that you allude to starts after a server re-spawn with fresh windows, things like that indicate to me that the are is fairly new to apocalypse and you are a new arrival to the area so it would make sense for their to be medical supplies at the hospital. The game can't simulate progression or time because we all play at different times at different stages so the 'world' of Day Z effectively refreshes itself so new players enter at a fairly new stage. Your hypothesis doesn't either really fit that well with a new spawn who has nothing, if the apocalypse had been going on a while your character would have stuff or how else has he survived this long. It's entirely logical for a decent amount of medical supplies to be in the hospital IMO. Secondly That decision should be up to the player no? He shouldn't be forced to stop in that village, well every village for one elusive piece of loot that an annoying gameplay mechanic has forced upon him with no logic as to why that loot is there. That turns the game into some sort of glorified easter egg hunt. On what earth is it more logical to find antibiotics in a random house more than at a hospital? Infection was fine as it is, an occasional thing that happened from various sources. They could have made it a bit more interesting but what they have done is over the top, your supposed to be surviving the whole world not just the infection, some poeple should naturally just fight it off for a start and shouldn't even need anti-biotics. -
LOL you think Frankie is a hacker? A guy the devs have given interviews with? Ok then.

What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
tajjuk replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Surely it's virtually impossible to judge any 'realism' considering this is a computer game of an entirely unrealistic situation and the game also contains many 'unrealistic' elements. Perhaps what he should have said was "I don't like how illogical the loot spread is" ? I think this assumption makes you rather stupid. Most of these types of players you allude to would never be on these forums nor would they play main hives either. Either accept that other Day Z players have some legitimate concerns about the patch or shut up. Personally I voted unsatisfied, the overall direction of the patch is fine but they way they have gone about it is terrible and lazy IMO. Zombies needed fixing before they got cranked up and now they just don't make any sense, nor does the infection and knock downs. Just some horrible game mechanics in this patch that have just made the game more annoying rather than challenging. -
To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7
tajjuk replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LOL. That's all I did when i read your post. Have legitimate concerns about the game you are apparently doing it wrong? Didn't know there was just one way to play Day Z. Good job at calling everyone who doesn't agree with you sh*t btw as well. It would help if you actually read what most people were complaining about. Read RN_Max's critique it closely matches my complaints with this patch and many others. Sneaking simply doesn't work because the zombies are bugged to hell, They agrro from anywhere, through anywhere, without reason. Hell they even predict where you are going.and intercept you even if you haven't somehow managed to aggro them, or they will randomly just appear in front of you/behind you again for no real reason. If you think that's acceptable AI behaviour that's your opinion. I think it's poor game design, I'm not 'bitchin' as you so poorly put because the game is hard but because the game doesn't work to any logic any more.. I'm not going to apologise for wanting some logic and plausibility in the games I play, having terrible AI like this patch has brought just makes the game less immersive IMO. As for the infection and the knockdowns well, enough has been said on them and they are looking at tweaking this area but again not sure how this has added anything to the game, it's just made the game very annoying, if that what everyone is wanting then we have achieved it. Annoyance, boring repetitive annoyance. You 'helpful' (LOL) suggestions in summary is to avoid all zombies and pretty much everything else. So erm do nothing. Great Advice there. -
What you guys think about the new update?
tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So in short f*ck off and play something else then is your message? I see, from moderators as well, great. Have we asked for it to be for 'casual' players, is anyone asking for COD? It's legitimate feedback from experienced Day Z players. We aren't players paying to play on servers that start with AS50s or Coyote back packs nor do we want piles of loot everywhere and zombies that you kill with a twig. Most of my entire playtime has been on vanilla servers since I first started playing DayZ, I don't disagree with the overall tone of the patch but frankly it's broken. Zombies that know where you are going?, Zombies that knock you down and infect you with every hit?, Zombies that randomly appear 20m in front of you? Zombies which are supposed to be infected ill humans having cat like eyes and reflexes? Survivors that apparently have no anti-bodies in them despite somehow surviving a zombie apocalypse in the first place? Zombies that can see through walls? No food in a supermarket. Apparently wanting some logic, plausibility to gaming and a bit of fun is wanting it to be casual. I'm introducing a mate to the game next week, I imagine that it will go something like this:- Spawn in. Him "cool what we going to do" Me "we're going to spend 4 hours looking for anti-biotics, which we won't find so we will then spend hours trying to hunt animals to keep ourselves alive so we can spend more time looking for anti-biotics" Him "oh....." Hardcore? more like hardsnore........ -
Actual Constructive Feedback for 1.7.7
tajjuk replied to Tehmedic101's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A great post. Something I tried to explain in other threads about this patch. Zombies needed fixing before they were buffed and dialling up the difficulty to 11 does not automatically create a better game. There is a difference between chore and challenge, spending hours upon hours looking for simple loot is not challenging it's simply boring. Having zombies completely ignore the laws of physics is not challenging it's game breaking. Hopefully the infection changes will make this patch a bit better. i think most people don't disagree with the tone of this patch, loot was previously a bit easy as were zombies but I think the changes have gone too far and they are a bit too simplistic. - Zombies not a threat? we'll make them super strong & fast, they knock you down in one hit and constantly infect infect you. - Loot not scarce enough? turn all the loot tables right down and make everything really rare. -

tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From my experience in this last week you are in the minority, on my several favourited servers player numbers have dropped a lot. patch has pleased the very hardcore players but that is a small section of the community it;s alienated far more than just the very casual players. The middle ground more flexible players have been put off sas well. -
JackFrags's stuff are good if you like Frankie, he does some mirrored ones with Frankie but his Hive Bandits series is very funny particularly the voices he does sometimes.

Are there drawbacks to the MMO architecture?
tajjuk replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Because clearly being able to move and shoot is entirely just a COD creation  -
I think they said more civilian focussed weapons not necessarily Russian focussed, so no SAWs and Barrets and the like I think. Sniper rifles are only going to be bolts like the CZ I think.

tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dial it down a bit, simple as that really. Server owners I suppose can adjust the loot tables, but things like food/medical supplies in the more common locations should be more common, easier to find something. Wandering into a hospital to find a box with 10 blood bags is too much, wandering into a hospital to find tin cans on your third visit is over the top. As I said above the raising of the Zombies strength/health etc. worried me before the patch, not because they would be too hard because they aren't fixed yet. I want to know my limits with a Zombie, if I have to crawl around, keeping out of LOS then so be it, if I can only really risk maybe one f*ck up with the Zombies so be it, but attacking through walls, the zig zagging, the near constant knockdowns, the constant infection, the random spawning too much all in one go. Needs a re-think rather than just 'bigger, stronger, more health, longer sight range' etc. That's just turning them up, not making them more of a challenge. A bigger stronger zombie running straight at me is less of a threat than a weaker/slower one zig zagging teleporting towards me because I can shoot the first one in the head because it's running in a straight line. I'd like to see zombies act more like animals. Fairly stupid, reactionary, stronger in numbers than alone and working on basic senses with a persistent goal, the blood lust. Killing/avoiding one or two zombies should be relatively easy but alert a group and your in real trouble. That's why I think it's fine they are harder to loose, they have a blood lust, you should have to do more than run into trees but you should be able to trick them, they should have limited field of view so sneaking using LOS should be important, they should react to light and noise, the more of each the more zombies you get. This would mean that if players respect the zombies and know the rules if you like they can avoid them, i.e. if you are 100m they probably shouldn't see you, if you are 10m you can't just crouch past one and get away with it, but at the same time if you are in a building making no noise they shouldn't be agroing but they do. If you are about to shoot that player you should be thinking - "How many zombies are close to me?", "How many will I alert", "Do I have an exit from them?" "how loud is my gun" etc. I'm just not sure players cna make these sort of risk reward decisions atm cos these zombies are unpredictable still.and whilst before you could get away with it easily, know they just completely f*ck you up because one has aggroed from 100m away, zig zagged across a field and knocked you to the floor and infected you in one hit. -

tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As I said many times when people were discussing the new patch, more powerful more threatening Zombies AS A CONCEPT is fine. However the reality of the Zombies in the mod it's not practical to simply dial them up, they are too unpredictable, too glitchy too broken to add these additional dangers on top. There should be a line where you know if you cross it, the Zombies are going to be a real danger. Quite simply players do not know where that line is because Zombies just don't work as they are supposed to. -

tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
100% agree there, the bold point is the key question. I feel that this current patch they have just turned the volume up to 11, but the music doesn't sound any better. I think maybe we were on 5 before and were struggling to hear but really it only needed turning up to 7. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
tajjuk replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree, but I think people are looking too much into the standalone playthrough. They are just showing you examples so it's going to in ultra easy mode to enable them to quickly do that. Otherwise, it's "let me show you the new crafting system, but hang on for 15 minutes whilst I crawl from house to house". It's the same reason Frankie doesn't show looting/travelling in his videos as it's just not entertaining. I still also think that considering the situation that guy had put himself in, i.e. running pull pelt through houses with Zombies chasing a normal person would vault stuff. Nope, this worried me as well. The guy Matt was talking about the weapons and the 'plausibility' of finding big snipers, but where is the plausibility of these infected, sick, and decaying humans leaping around like cats? No I agree there, they should have just reduced the number of zombies. Average age not maximum age, things like infant mortality and various diseased etc brought it massively down. IIRC they have found pre-historic humans that live to 50-60 years old,. Hence why I made the survival of the fittest reference. Also as I said above I think if you are running from a zombie horde, as the situation that guy put himself in you would take calculated risks and vaulting over a small fence is not much of a risk. I think most people would try to avoid being in that situation in the first place, but once there the falling over the fence is the least of your worries. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
tajjuk replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^ they turned zombie damage off for the demonstration. ^ also if you are running away from a Zombie you are going to vault a small 2 foot fence. I'm not sure about this "every injury could be your end" idea, how fragile do you think humans are? We existed thousands of years ago in the wild. The 'surivors' in this apocalypse are already going to be the fitter, stronger, smarter, more agile people. I like the fluid movement, people move fluidly IRL, also guns do not have as massive recoil as people think they do. As long as fundamentals like stance, recoil, fire mode, movement etc are considered I don't really understand how anyone could ever worry the gunplay could become close to COD. Simply firing prone from the shoulder in a stationarly position will be the most accurate type of fire and it gets less accurate from there. -

tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As is any game but the patches have had very different flavours so I don;t understand how you can claim this 'vision' from this patch but not others. That literally makes no sense, this patch is the developers trying something like the previous patches not necessarily how they want the game to go. As can you, they still have interest in the game and their feedback has merit as part of the community. Whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant and you literally have no right to talk down to people like you have in this thread. It simply makes you look like a dick, you are just another player like them and their voice is just as valuable as yours. Your visions, not the developers vision, see my point above. the other patches haven't been as hardcore, so what did they abandon the vision? You make far too many assumptions off one patch. They are trying something and some people don't like it. You have not been defending it, you have basically dismissed other people's relevant feedback. Huge difference. Some niche games are total crap and some triple A titles are excellent. The COD argument is overused and trotted out far too often, it also has little merit here. It's generally trotted out by a small minority of fans of a game who dislike change. Full stop people resistant to change. Day Z has done none of this, but it has broadened it's community and attracted many new players. It would seem stupid to alienate lots of them for no real reason than to make the game 'a bit harder'. A more difficult or hardcore game doesn't instantly make it a better game or improve the quality of experience. I read an interview with Rocket when asked about players needing to got to the toilet in game and he said that they were maybe looking at it but would only implement it if it added value to the gameplay. That's what I question about some of the patch changes, do they really add value to the gameplay? or have they just dialled something up to 11 as that seems easier. No, I'm offering an opinion that differs to yours, at no point did I say I spoke for the community I just hypothesised that if you make loot very scarce and a chore to find people will look to the easier route of taking it form other players. You instantly assumed that harder E would make, no force players to work together, my experience of the game is that those who want to work together will work together those you don't won't. Instead of payers shooting players for a DMR or NVGs, players will shoot each other for anti-biotics or food. For that there would have to be some time between the cans. If loot is so scarce that people are making 3 or even 4 trips to find something they are basically just playing a scavenger hunt. I have nothing against the environment being harsh if adds to atmosphere and immersion but there has to be a balance. it's why for example players can run endlessly, because spending an hour getting from A to B just doesn't really add anything to the gameplay. it's why the realism argument sucks total balls. End of the day this is not some training simulator, it's a game, people play games to escape reality and have fun. If some people aren;t having as much fun with this new patch then I think it;s important to look at why. I don't even have one clue what you are talking about here. I'm sorry, were you not telling me earlier that this patch was better because the harsher E would make players team up more and now you are telling me it's harder to team up? Make your mind up. Is it more rewarding? . I don't really feel that the patch is challenging me more, the zombies are harder yeh, but just as buggy and now somehow even more illogical. I now spend longer looking for stuff, not really challenging just more time consuming. As I said before I think your mistaking chore with challenge. Doing something in DayZ just takes longer now. I'm not sure how that is a good thing. EDIT: One thing I forgot as well is that this patch not only adds new gameplay elements but it also fixes things that were bugged broken. So 'go play the old patch' is a stupid response, you seem to think that just because I say think the loot tables are too extreme that I shouldn't in the future get something like crafting? Do only the leet hardcore woodland survivors now deserve the new features? If it doesn’t work so be it! (Feel free to have another crack) Not going to let? LOL, didn't know you were in charge. LOL @ that list. some games got worse shcok, many other games get better with community feedback and more funding but no one mentions those cos it doesn't suit the hipster argument. -
What you guys think about the new update?
tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As were all the previous patches, were they not? So your saying every single previous patch doesn't line up with the vision? You in fact were telling people to go play other games, I don't need to re-quote you, your post stank of unfounded self righteousness. You have a vision of how YOU want the game to be. Maybe this patch goes close to it but certainly don't pretend like you speak for the community. The standalone will be a game sold for profit, thus it will have to appeal to the whole community the mod has developed not just you or a minority. It's not like all the comments on this thread favour the new patch now is it? No, it hasn't its encouraging far more selfish gameplay, less loot available and stronger lZombies means that the already geared will farm those who don't. Why bother risking yourself with the super zombies in Cherno, hide in the woods with your guns and tents, hunt animals and kill those new players that have struggled to pick up a few supplies and get out of Cherno, which will be easy because they won't have found a gun. Which makes the game massively about the E and boring boring AI that are predictable and repetitive. It's a multiplayer game, that is it's appeal. Make the E too important and people will essentially be just playing a single player game fighting Zombie AI. There needs to be a balance, I agree the Zombie threat was not there in the previous patch but this patch has flipped it far too far on the otherside. What by making game play a chore? Is that in the mission statement. There is a massive difference between 'challenge' and 'chore'. In your opinion. What about the many people that were enjoying the game before the patch, or do they not count because you are happy? Wow, the arrogance and the smugness you exude. Balance, have some sense of perspective and understand that a lot of people enjoy the PvP element and less the looting/survival element. Just because you want to play one way doesn't mean others do. If people are visiting hospitals several times and finding trash do you really think they will persevere with the game?, People have already switched off, I've seen countless people who have already switched back to the previous patch. Your whole post is essentially about as considered as the 'man up' posts. I have nothing against the game being hard, but you do know some people found the game hard as it currently was? I admin on a server that encourages new players, there are guys on there who die countless times to zombies, I expect most of them will probably go play something else, which is a shame IMO. But apparently that's fine with you as that has been your message all along - Play my way or go somewhere else. I think these Zombies are stupid, not hard. They make no sense, nor does the new jumping Zombies unless all the Zombies were former WWF members? ] They are sick and infected humans but they can knock someone out with one punch? In the standalone demo the guy talks about plausibility, yet these infected humans can leap about like monkeys, punch like Tyson and have cat like vision. Very plausible indeed. Oh and If you think a game that is being sold for profit is only going to listen to a small minority of the community you are very naive -
What you guys think about the new update?
tajjuk replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wish I had the opportunity to give anti-beans. A horrible horrible post. Why don't you f*ck off into the actual woods and go actual hunting in the real world? You have no right to tell people to go play other games. THIS IS A GAME. PEOPLE PLAY IT FOR FUN. Some people have 3-4 hours a week maximum to play., I would imagine most of them are massive fans of this game and will be potential customers of the standalone, many of them who were enjoying the game are enjoying it less under this new patch. You really think that people with busy lives want to spend some of their downtime spending four hours looking for some beans? You really think people want to spend ALL their time in game just trying to avoid a zombie that is 100m away? Maybe YOU should go play Left4Dead seeing as you want to fight Zombies. That's monotony, I would imagine people have more than enough of that in real life that they don't want to replicate it in the game. No one enjoys that, that's a glorified easter egg hunt on your computer. I play the game because of the PvP interactions, both good and bad, the massive sandbox do anything, no rules, no objectives freedom that this game provides. Take that away and you have a glorified scavenger hunt and a rubbish version of Resident Evil. There has to be some balance between the survivalist element and the PvP. From the collection of largely fair comments that balance has shifted too far. Everyone here is entitled to their opinions, they wouldn't post on here if they weren't fans of the game. If this patch is putting people off the game then that is serious feedback that needs looking at if they actually want to sell the standalone. -
Medical loot with the new patch is non-existant.
tajjuk replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And you would know this from all those zombie apocalypses you have been in. What with Zombie apocalypses being ultra realistic anyway. What a stupid statement. You argument about the hospital is kind of stupid considering that loot re-spawns as well. If no one has been in a hospital and there is no loot in it that seems a bit pointless to me. This is a game, hence why you run endlessly, hence why broken legs can be healed with morphine. If people are searching for 4 hours to find medical supplies then the loot tables need looking at because that just isn't fun and that's a terrible game mechanic. -
Yep this, even if he is a hero he's got to know that running around with that gear makes you look like a bandit. If you have hero skin show it, change into the ghillie and carry the sniper when you are intending to use it. People will make decisions based on the threat level, some will kill on sight whatever but others even bandits might leave the buy alone if he's saying carryring an axe or an ak with a hero outfit. Little things like that will sway their decision to pull that trigger.
-
I would imagine though that in that sort of society there would be communities of survivors, probably many more than there would be groups of bandits/killers. Said communities would hear about these killers and the bandits would gain notoriety and thus get shunned by the remaining community as a whole. I think the standalone will implement some sort of visual indicator so you will be able to spot the multiple killers and they will simply get shot often a lot as well.

Don't bother fixing the miltary Mi-17 it's broken!
tajjuk replied to conthefruiter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had this bug before, killed me the first two times but all you have to do is as soon as you click 'get out', don't move, instantly go prone and roll out or crawl out as you will be underneath the chopper, then stand up when you are clear of the body. Works everytime for me that this bug has happened. Not sure why people dislike the Mi-17, it's not that agile but it's fast and it's a tank of a chopper. It can take a lot of damage.
