    TEMPORARY TROUBLESHOOTING TOPIC

Well, I've never heard of this bug, and I do quite a bit of reading on DayZ. Really wish there was a place I could post this, or I could get some form of help.

    TEMPORARY TROUBLESHOOTING TOPIC

I can't find a place to put a bug report because the bug report forum keeps rejecting my login, even though I've checked it several times now. There doesn't seem to be a support forum for the forums themselves, so I'm posting this issue and my bug report here. I had an issue where on the launch build I was fighting zombies in the new apartments of Chernogorsk with my friend. I had an M4A1 with a lot of attachments, and right after I killed one of the zombies all my attachments disappeared, as well as my magazine. Not only that, but all my spare magazines, in my inventory, disappeared as well. This hasn't been addressed by Rocket in patch-notes so I'm assuming the offending code (or maybe a server glitch? Pretty weird to delete certain items in a very specific way) has not been found/changed. If anyone could possibly post this for me, or help me get into the bug report forum, it'd be highly appreciated.
  3. With the new update, the ability to use SD rounds in non-SD weapons, and vice versa, will be removed because of the ability to not aggro zombies when shooting a loud firearm. While I agree with and like this feature. However, in real life, certain weapons don't need special ammo for silencers. For these weapons, I think it'd be a good idea if you could "convert" the ammo between SD and non-SD. Because the ammo in the real SD and non-SD weapons is identical, it wouldn't actually be converting, but instead making the game realize you're using the ammo for an SD or non-SD weapon, and making it loud/silent to match. Of course, weapons that need special ammo for silenced fire wouldn't have this option on their ammo. Thoughts?
  4. That update message was why I made this thread. I don't know how you could read it any other way.
  5. I don't think they can, which is why this problem was there in the first place.
  6. The sounds are tied to weapons, but the "sounds" in the way zombies hear you are not. If you didn't convert them, you'd have the current system, where firing SD rounds from a non-SD weapon doesn't alert zombies. Which is silly.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7.1 Hotfix

The next few updates sound like they're really going to make the mod something special again.
  9. Willful product placement is totally kosher, right?

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7.1 Hotfix

People bitching about the standalone for X reason are stupid. People bitching about the update being sent in weeks ago and hearing nothing more about it have a point. ... ):

What i got out of the devblog

To be honest, if I could forfeit every future update to the mod to get that fix, I would. Too bad it's pretty much impossible to fix their pathfinding.

This only reinforces that the game should be released. Gamebreaking bugs are hilarious.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7.1 Hotfix

They've already said that they've increased the weighting of antibiotics to a noticeable degree and that (if I recall correctly) the amount you get infected is too high because of a bug. But you're right. The fact that the zombies are so buggy means that making them dangerous is a crapshoot unless you're just overly cautious. Really, the basic problem is the pathfinding. Their zig-zagging and bugging out spinning makes them become hard to hit out in the open. The conceptual upside of a horde of zombies is that they come straight at you, giving you plenty of time to line up a shot if you have enough distance. But here, you can't line up a shot. They will literally zig-zag and pop several feet because of their broken pathfinding. So your only safe option to kill zombies without risking wasting a good deal of ammo is to exploit their OTHER pathfinding glitch by forcing them to walk by going inside. Which sucks. In reality, being out in the open would be better than cornering yourself inside, generally. I agree with the idea that zombies need to be more dangerous, but the punishment to being hit needs to be a less permanent punishment than having the equivalent of slowly bleeding to death unless I find God's personal bandage.

    DayZ Commander or Play withSix

I go with DayZ Commander. I can't think of a single thing wrong with it. Very simple to use, but very expandable.

    Where are all the devblogs?

Just got back from it. What's up?

DayZ is draining at first...but it's fun.

Somebody duped his own character (by accident or on purpose, I can't tell) on disconnect. You can't find the names of duped bodies. Oh, and yes, that is they way you respawn.

    Standalone and Xbox

Just FYI: Microsoft is getting rid of the charge on developers for title updates, so this isn't something you have to worry about anymore.

You know, it's always possible to drop your gun on the ground, take out a hatchet/crowbar, and kill the zombie, and get your gun back. That's always been my MO when needing to kill zombies but not wanting to attract a horde. It's stealthy, too, so you won't have to bleed over the forums that a minor issue has ruined the game for you.

    Ghillie dude at stary....

Seeing as my policy when anywhere at or north of Stary is to KoS anyone who is a threat (having been burned too many times by giving peace a chance), and seeing as a sniper with an outfit that blends in might be a bit deadly...

The only rifles that matter now:

AKM/SA-58? They sound and look badass and the fact that they can one-shot zombies and do significantly more damage to players than STANAG rifles is a big deal for me.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7 Patch

Well, like I said, only one of those things needed to change for it not to be a problem in my eyes.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7 Patch

Way I see it, one of the following elements needs to be fixed, because otherwise, it's just not working: 1. High infection rates are fine, so long as every city hasn't already been cleared out of antibiotics. I've had runs for hours running through Elektro and Cherno for antibiotics, found no antibiotics, but somehow have geared up on full military loot. Obviously things are spawning, and rare things are spawning, but someone's taking them. 2. Low antibiotics rate would be fine, so long as the rate was decreased, or it didn't outright kill you. It's pretty much: Infected as a fresh spawn? Kill yourself and try again. 3. Lower food rates would be fine, so long as I'm not dying of blood loss from the infection every single time. And the kicker: 4. All of the above, so long as they accepted all of the above as an incentive for working together. However, we've still got people sitting on the industrial rooftops in Cherno, killing for sport, not even for getting gear. I've encountered many more friendlies after this update, and still I'm being killed by that one guy in the coastal cities. Seriously, if any one of these things was mended, the other things would be fine. I really love the feeling behind this update: Zombies are more dangerous, a little more sparse, and you've really got to loot pretty hard to have a good chance of getting good gear. I even like the feeling of stress from being infected and needing to find antibiotics. But when there's no payoff, there aren't antibiotics, and I die every single time, it just becomes frustrating. That said, I managed to get a decent amount of gear together (read: a hatchet and some food) without getting infected, and that was a blast. I felt really great, much more accomplished to be at that level than before, and that's great, because it makes me feel like there's a lot more progression and struggle. But to be honest, it wasn't worth the previous four or five multiple-hour lives wasted on the coast, trying to get something before passing out continuously from the infection or straight up getting sniped. Edit: Being knocked down is just stupid. If the zombies started beating me to death, it'd be scary. But no, they knock me down and then get confused as hell, walking around me until I get up and run away. Either way, the rate should be reduced.
