Curious if any of the dev team has even seen this.

Perhaps Chernarus was attacked by a giant nuclear megalodon squid., that bit chunks out of the land and turned it into an island leaving only a very small sector of radiation as it returned into the ocean! The radiation caused cities to grow from the earth like flowers and expanded the coast, this all happened in such rapid and seemingly impossible speeds that it even changed the weather in various sectors, and turned the citizens into "the walking dead" who knows? On Dayz Island anything is possible

If the map was converted to be similar to the one I have created, I can't think of any reasons people would complain for spawning in at the coast, an even better solution would be to parachute them in.

When we were playing earlier, I noticed it seems to take significantly less time to travel to some of the same locations we were used to traveling, almost like they made it smaller.. or took out some of the spaces in-between. But perhaps its just dayz mind games..

Those who oppose the idea generally argue that the region is based on a "real location" that is not an island, and climate zones would be "unrealistic". However the majority would like to see these suggestions added into future Dayz gameplay. Those who have discussed the idea are still a very small percentage of the overall community; many have yet to give their feedback.

Has anyone heard any other official announcements, that would cover these suggestions? Or is it generally just casually said over a live stream?

Let the real place inspire you, but lets just make it an island with various climates for the sake of gameplay

should have been done from the very beginning..

So what happens when I run into the end of the future expansion? more empty space.? Island or bust, perhaps if a player ventures out to sea, storms could overtake them.. ..and a game world like this would add so much more to the immersion , i'm stuck on an island, instead of i'm walking into a world with no textures.

I have converted the map into an island to give an example of what I would like to see. Chernarus Plus Island Map [LARGE MAP HERE] Furthermore I think various climate zones could be implemented later on, Including climates like "snow, desert, or radiation" These climates could require additional or specialized equipment to enter these areas, such as gas masks, rad pills, heat packs or warm winter gloves and jackets, or in the case of a desert area, require extra water, or perhaps the need to take your clothing off during the day, and wear it during the night.
