Just wait for 1.7.2. No (I really hope so) more FPS issues for "lower" end computers. You should not install any other mods other than DayZ. Everything else could screw you over in regards to joining a server or your gameplay.

If you make a car, the fuel needed, a toolbox and an entrenching tool available, I will work for 2 Cans of beans and 2 canteens filled with water per hour - Driving from town to town to cut down all the wire!

A decent community we have, do we? So devoted to be helpful. Try to slow down your pace during night times. (Can apply to day as well) If you are aware of your surroundings and you know you can run unseen do it with the light off. Just slow down to a walk every 20 meters or so to switch it back on and scan your front sector. Then off - rinse repeat. Since it is dark the Zombies have a harder time to spot you as well. Try focusing on the sound you make. Don't worry about the light. They can not link the light source with food. So if Zombies are around keep the lamp on and sneak past them. If you stumble over some cans and need to run, then try not to with your lamp on. Just do it like I explained above with switching it on and off to get your bearings. Might be tough with someone eating your leg while you fiddle around with the lamp. Best is to look for chemlights to illuminate your surroundings even when your lamp is off. Makes a chase not a blind flight. Codus

It is either a state of shock (should resolve itself in 5 minutes) or you suffer from severe pain. If it does not go away by waiting, eat some pills. (painkillers)

Female can't use skins... Thanks for the heads up...not?

Just be patient. You'll die sooner or later. Choose a male character then. And on a sidenote: If you ask me the Ghillie should be taken out of the mod completely. The camo military clothing are fine, but the Ghillie does not fit into the zombie setting too well. Or maybe make it so if you choose to wear it, you won't be able to access your backpack. Since in game the game you don't wear any at all. There should be more skins like PMC. The ultimate dream would be to have clothes you could put on piece by piece like in real RPGs. Maybe that will be possible in Arma III :-) Awwww can't wait till AIII comes out and DayZ gets into the final status. Fun times ahead! -
Ranging from romantic to fucking creepy! And nobody would get me to search that house during the night! Nobody!

I just fell off a ladder once. Lesson learned. (Broke a leg) Since then I was never hurt by the landscape itself again. I would not see it as a bug, it is a feature. (Not kidding) See it more like: You did not pay attention and got seriously hurt. Just try to survive in the wilderness and sooner or later you will stumble upon something where you'll think "Oh shit. If I would have slipped here it would have caused sever injuries." So move with caution.

Look at your toolbelt. Flashlight. No need to avoid night servers anymore! Push yourself to play at night too. Daylight won't give you the creeps. Night does.

The reason you see the markers is the use of group channel. While you are ingame and mark stuff on your map while in groupchannel, nobody besides you can see it. Once you disconnect you go to the looby first, in where the group channel is being synced. Therefor any player who joins the server or goes back to the lobby gets your map syncs. You can test this with a friend.

If the reload key does not work drop the crowbar/hatchet and pick it up again. Voila - It is sharp again!

A wise decision to play on hardcore. And don't forget to enjoy the better immersion first person gives too!

I do like night indeed. It is quite a complete different gameplay for me. And yes, I suffer from the players circumventing night too :-( There are too many servers already and so all the night time servers get abandoned. A few weeks back all servers were full. Even during night time. I miss these fun times.

It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!

Zombies are not being attracted by Chemlights or any lamps. DayZ without night is DayZ without fun. I do hope there will be a solution so people will actually play night. And no, a solution is not an arcade night. I've just played 3 hours during a "pitch black" night. Was able to see stars and contours against the horizon. Simple solution to see: Use your Flashlight. If you stumble across green chemlights, try using them in combination. That way you can travel with switching the light on and off to scan your surroundings. While you would avoid roads in daylight, they are your best navigation assistance during nighttime. If you get lost follow a road to a building and try to find it on the map. You should know your area of operations. So it should already be narrowed down. Before entering a city get to high ground. Cut all light sources and try to spot lights in there. If nothing moves get both the sticks and the light again. Same on and off procedure as you would travel. And don't be so afraid of hostile players. If they want to see they need to use light sources as well. Welcome to the most intense part of this game. You can't beat the atmosphere. -
I have sometimes got the problem that it won't turn on as well. Spamming the button and walking around magically fixes it....... Seems like the batteries are just weak! On a more serious note, I think it happens with other lightsources being nearby. When it stopped working I was around a place with 3 to 4 chemsticks on the ground. Maybe an engine limitation of how many light sources can be present at once. ~Codus

I've tested the FPS issue and I think the zeds are still causing it. I entered the city of Brezino to get some morphine and once the zeds spawned the FPS went down one by one during getting closer to the town. When sneaking through it the FPS went down to around 10 for me. Surprisingly on my way out there were hardly any zeds around and my FPS said the same. Solid 20 when walking through the town. Tomorrow I'll test some more scenarios to narrow the issue down. ~Codus

Sadly my FPS went into a split-mode now. While outside of cities my FPS returned back to my former 40 FPS, the second I see buildings they go down to 10-15 FPS. Even with very small villages. In previous DayZ versions I could be in villages with a stable 25-30 FPS and even in large cities it would not go below the 18FPS mark.

Crawl up to a building and stand up while sneaking inside. Once you enter you make noise like driving through the building with a harley. You can sneak in the current build by going prone, although you can not loot buldings without attracting the whole city. May not be a big hassle for ongoing characters. But it is definitely for new beginning ones without weapons. But the discussion will end soon. 7.5 fixes it :-)

A forum issue first: While rocket really rocks, could we (force us to) stick to the bug-reporting in these new version threads? Without it we get 30 pages of posts in 10 minutes which then leads to double reports of the same issues/bugs. Nobody will read through 30 pages of 28 page smalltalk and 2 page bug talk. (Well rocket does. He could be a way more efficient machine way more efficient by preserving his precious time) Thanks a lot  The issue: - 2 to 4 Zeds stationary in Buildings : Since the audibility gets back to normal we finally can enter buildings again without alerting the whole town. Maybe look at the spawn chance inside buildings, since I have the feeling it is broken at the moment. Every building forced me to shoot some zeds today. ~Codus

Heh, Communities.... If it is 10 PM outside and the game is night: Complain. If you switch timezones to please them on your server and it becomes 10AM outside : Everyone complains since night is inevitable :P If you want a perfect server be my guest and host one :P That does not exclude me being lazy though...... While some servers are really not getting their desired attention from the admins, it is still not easy to be around for them the whole day. (But at least once you return home you should check your servers. Takes 20 seconds to restart 2 servers anyways.) Automation looks cool on the paper. In praxis it's not, since when I restart the server it involves too much steps that could not be made by a program. ~Codus

Extremely low FPS in the cities with mid-high-end rig.. QUESTIONS.
Codus replied to punisherita's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Your issue is mainly server related. Currently 50 % of the server admins forgot to update their server_dayz.pbo to 1.7.1.3 due to the short timed releases. If they still run the 1.7.1.2 you have shitty FPS. Easiest way to check if they run the old version is to fire a shot and log out. If you are missing a whole magazine - here you go. 1.7.1.2. Then there are the 20% running 24hours and causing the FPS to drop. Give it a day or two till all the admins updated correctly, so you only have to deal with 20% :-) Codus -
Be patient and try to find a freshly restarted server. There you will have your "true" FPS and you can config for multiplayer. If a server runs for a few hours, the FPS on the clients degrade slowly.

The 1.7.1.1 issues are an interesting source for testing: 1. Missing food and water: Since we start with nearly nothing, the survival aspect is actually right in our face. The first 5 minutes I was like "I need a gun". Then it was "I need a new bandage!". After not being able to find food at all, the priority list started to change till a point where I would trade my gun (if I had one) for food and water. Suddenly I stumbled over a Makarov and I was as happy as I've just found some NVG's. Also ANY weapon would make me happy. Conclusion: If loot would be more scarce, we would be glad about the basic goods and basic weapons. Goal: Find best weapon +NVG's Find Food 2. No weapon at re-spawn: While not an "issue" in form of a bug, it seems like lots of people don't like this. Not having a weapon at all made point 1 possible in the first place. I had the best time for quite a while, being forced to avoid the zombies knowing if I screw up I'll be dead. Conclusion: Like or dislike is personal preference. Needs to be long term tested if people adapt. (I am sure they do) 3. Zombies inside Houses Brilliant idea. My first barn was occupied by 1 zed and I could see a gun. Chose to look for more barns instead of looting it - Brilliant :-) It seems not to work well at the moment. Zeds tend to spawn in clumps. Conflicts with point 2 if they always spawn inside (without moving or a % chance they spawn at all. Can't confirm nor deny if there is already a % chance in place) barns and stuff. Also there are certain "industrial" buildings where Zeds spawn in between of 2 enter-able rooms. Leads to being killed without seeing them at all. Conclusion: Fixing wrong spawning Zeds inside walls and ensuring not every building is occupied = win. 4.Performance: Works like a charm as far as I can see. Both server side and client side. ~Codus

Interesting. Seems like survival is hard now.

*sniff* So this means I will keep my pants longer than 10 minutes again :-( After playing a bit I thought I would be clever to actually have an excuse to not wear pants at all.
