This the DayzMod. I've noticed once the server reaches 30+ players we start to see unexpected low server fps and responsiveness. The dedicated server is running with the following. Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1245 v2 3.40 GHz 16 Gig of ram SSD Dayzmod configs: dayz_bleedingeffect = 2 infistar AH dayz_antihack = 0 dayz_REsec = 0 We haven't noticed this in previous dayzmods nor Epoch (when we had a few scripts and no Overwatch). We'll notice delayed debris spawning Wheel mouse menu and gear lag Lower client frames <5 fps on the server Any insight or help would be appreciated. Also a suggestion is it possible to have a configurable way of controlling the debris and power line zombies? I know it can be done by overriding them but I rather not (and stay vanilla). From a game perspective they are nice touches but if they add load for little game benefit it would be nice to have the power to throttle or turn them off (similar to blood effects).

Assuming the hive comes back you won't have the bandit skin since the the game will be using your steam UID (instead of the playerid) and in effect your character will reset. Some people won't like that while others will like to start fresh.

Okay I'm pleasantly surprised that a private hive updating to steam 125548 has gotten so many players in less than a day. I'm eating crow and it's delicious.

Okay it's done for you HavocFive.

Since this is a private server PM and I'll switch the character id with the new one in the database. I'll do yours right now.

US 434 Private Vanilla Dayz Mod - (1.8.1/125548)[VETERAN|3DP:ON|CH:ON][GMT-11][Reboot8x] US 434 is now on the latest steam version.

Whether it's Overpoch or dayzmod or any other version of the mod it's not intuitive for the masses to migrate from DayzCommander to the steam versions, especially the steam version newer than 112555. That's not unique to Overpoch/Epoch since it's evident on how few people play on the steam version greater than 112555 for 1.8.1. It's a question of habit and unless there is a universal, intuitive and more importantly required for players to pull the instructions in migrating to Steam I can see the confusion continuing. The only way I can see this happening is when game spy actually ceases to exist and people quickly realize dayzlauncher or directly from steam are the only approaches. Kichilron I don't expect the dayzmod devs to support a Frankenstein version of a mod of a mod mash-up. However what I did experience was how difficult it was for players to properly go to a version newer than 112555. I wasn't implying any fault or expect you to support it. It's entirely up to me since I placed the server online. It was meant as my experience of what happens when players have to switch over when a supposed previous format just wont die. I whole heatedly expect when US 434 switches over I'll get the same sort of queries. By the way I see your frustration with the amount of support you've provided in another thread. My post was mostly cathartic with a hint of rant and was not meant to aggravate an area you are obviously tired of dealing with.

Our Overpoch server has moved to version 125548 and requires dayzlauncher or Steam UI or command line to run. Server population has been stable. However lots of new and old had or have issues with logging in. I feel eventually people will get it and figure it out. The initial problems during migration has been the poor feedback when they can't log in. Examples include being stuck in debug, getting kicked after logging in, getting authentication error, etc.. For the most part most players do not have the capabilities of an IT level 1 support. We've had to support a lot of players via TS, personal forums, etc... When they come to us the first thing I tell them to do is the following: Open Steam and right click Arma 2: Operation ArrowheadSelect Updates: Make sure 'Automatic Updates' is set to 'Always keep this game up to date' (you can always chose to not update after)Go to 'Local Files' and browse install folder and right-click properties | details and confirm arama2OA.exe is version 125548 Go to 'Local Files' tab and select 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'After verifying start up Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead from Steam and navigate to the multi-player screenSometimes you will re-download DLC and Battleye, especially if you've been on an older version of Arma2OA (may not be true but a lot of players with a stale state of their game I've noticed this). After going to the multi-player screen close Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead. Then use DayzLauncher to runI'm not saying all these steps are relevant but I basically walked-through about half the server population so they can log in. It's never a bad idea to go back and retrace all steps. With that being said the move has been relatively successful so with the public hives taking a dirt nap I'm seriously debating moving over US434 server as well to version 125548. Anyways that's been our story so far.

We've discussed this with some of the other public hive server admins. In the end this might be the way to go. As for the public hive database if I remember correctly it was hosted by HFB which was a reseller from another provider. HFB went tits up (I know this because my past dedicated box was hosted by them). I don't know what's happened now. They could have turned the lights out or simply a technical issue.
-
If and when the hive comes back online we'll keep the private hive and also start up the public server. Unfortunately we'll bring down US 435. In hindsight it was diluting the player base.
-
US 434 is back and alive as a private hive that stays true to Vanilla.
-
Indeed it's offline again. US434 and 435 are down.

No not directly to Epoch but most of these servers use DZAI or SargeAI to have AI on the server. DZAI is pretty sophisticated. The AI will hunt you down and I've seen them use suppression fire. The AI also have 12000 blood and their gear looks exactly like another players. They'll also bandage if shot and will go unconscious as well. However to the answer the OP question not sure how to answer that. I think there is no real way to know until you try a server. By the way the most deadly AI in my mind are in WAI (Wicked AI) which are used in custom Epoch missions. We use them in our server and they can pose a real problem to players not use to AI acting intelligently. We had DZAI random spawns so as to keep players on their toes but recently we've turned it off due to the server load.

Might want to check in task manager to see if you have another arma2 instance running. Typically that's when I see port 2314. Sometimes when something goes wrong the executable does not shutdown.
-
Haha it's not the gear people are most attached to. It's their -1 000 000 humanity they *cough* earned. When I switched over to private while the hive was down most people complained about their humanity reset. EPEEN all the way!
-
We would also need some sort of offsite DR in case the production has it's lights turn out (i.e. service provide goes out of business or the guy decides he doesn't want to host it anymore, dies or starts dating a stripper, etc...). I don't know the full capabilities of MYSQL but can we cluster between two different locations?

I for one like this idea Jimmy. Like wise I've got an unlimited bandwidth server. For about an hour I had two servers connected to a private hive. It definitely reduces our risk. Something definitely we should continue discussing. By the way I've almost moved my stuff from HFB over to another provider. Out before the collapse :-)
-
Okay understood Jimmy. I can relate with your outages. I'm on HFB as well and we've been down several times in the last 3 months. Really kills the momentum.

Bullet_Catcher I'm the primary admin that runs US 434. I would love to have all vanilla servers run on the same patch. I really would. Unfortunately nobody at this stage is playing on the steam patch version. I've set up another server US 435 on the steam patch and only a few people jump on and then immediately log off. Thus I've set up US 434 to run on 112555. It seems this patch is the most popular with the player base since it's on dayz commander as the latest beta patch. If the other primary vanilla servers are willing to go to the steam patch I'm willing to move over to it. In particular if US 3480 is willing to move I'll do so at the same time. However if I'm the only one to do so my fear is that my server will be empty. By the way I've setup US 434 with the steam patch on another directory so when game spy ceases to support arma 2 it's literally a flick of the switch to move over. I don't expect everyone to agree with my decision but I've chosen 112555 version based on the initial post on server setup. Unfortunately the player base are creatures of habit and until gamespy turns the lights out they will not likely change for the sake of change. Regards, Geryon (Thomas)

As Kichilron states HFB is for experienced users who understand server management. I'd recommend it for people who have knowledge with servers, relational databases and general IT experience. I've been using them since April of last year and they are great. I love the control I have but simply setting up RDP, port access, IP blocking etc... is all on you. For me it's great but it might not be everyone's provider.
