    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Likewise I downloaded the filters as well and noted the same behavior. Edit: I've downloaded the most recent changes from 3 hours ago. I'll report if it persists.

facoptere, I noticed you didn't place the //new as the first line in the script.txt. Was that intentional? Yes that public variable restriction #10 confused me too since it shouldn't be kicking for that and not on the particular filter number. However I've seen it on US 434 as well.

No I have not seen things like this caused by the server. Scripters are another issue. Did I tell you about the flying black SUV that sounded like a Huey that landed in Balota on Sunday?

Likewise here, player population took a dump after updating. It's about half for me. Though the players on the server are great. I've seen less of the casual, curious, needy and definitely less scripters. So I'll take the good with the bad and enjoy some down time. I could actually play for a bit. :)
  5. Okay last Sunday the US 434 was hopping. Lots of players and lots of hackers. I personally saw an SUV flying like a helicopter. I digress. At one point a player launched a script that made every one dance. Anyways when the dancing happened I immediately shut the server down. Found the hacker and banned him. However after that event the following day a player logged in got caught for the following. Value Restriction #6 "remExField" = [<NULL-object>,<NULL-object>,"switchmove","actspercmstpsnonwnondnon_dancingduoivan"] No one else was dancing however. He states that he was affected by the previous nights hack and was dancing as well. He hypothesizes that his script restriction kick was a carryover from last nights hacker? He said he combat logged when it happened and the emote (dance) is a continuation of the previous night. What I'd like greater minds to comment is this theory even possible? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Geryon
  6. Much thanks facoptere on the 1.8.2 filters. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why when I place the sodacan's as a single regex line it was failing. Then I noticed that you split it in two lines instead. I suspected it but I gave up. Anyways cheers on the work you've done with the filters.

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Have to say kudos for facoptere for updating the filters for 1.8.2. I was banging my head why mine were not working. Then I saw his github post and noted he split the sodacans into two conditions. Mine was a single condition. Let me guess the regex couldn't handle that many or conditions? Anyways much thanks.

Noticed a few kicks with the new sodapops and DIY_Wood* thingy. I had to rush to work but partially worked on the filters without fully testing. Will check the logs for additional kicks later today.

There is very little CPU utilization on the dayz database. One I use has four dayz servers running and it's barely using any resources. If we are talking about let's say 4-5 additional servers hiving together I don't see an issue. Obviously there's more to this then CPUs, there's file I/O, memory and network bandwidth however for the type of data traffic necessary for dayz persistence I don't see these being immediate issues. With some basic ILM (information lifecycle management) the database won't get bloated and cause issues. I'm optimistic in being able handle additional load. Obviously if this takes off and more people want to join the community then possibly I can see us needing to have a dedicated database server. However at this point I don't see the need to have more CPUs, faster drives, more memory to handle the data. It's a concern that we haven't tripped over yet and may never occur (though would be interesting to have). I guess the best we can do is try to add a few additional servers and observe the load. I think at worst we have a small gang of servers who are hived and at best this takes off into something bigger. For anyone partaking in the en-devour it costs you nothing other than to set up a dayz server and connect to a central hive.

Redundancy will be an issue (haven't looked into mySQL, my familiarity is with Oracle databases) but if it's a smallish community I don't see the performance being a problem. One thing I'd like to do/see is a group of servers who will push the non-modified vanilla mod so players can join knowing that they will have a consistent experience. In fact having to many might dilute the server population. As with redundancy we can allow server owners who wish to collaborate to have access so if the main hive goes down people can get access to the back-ups so it can be relocated.

Like wise I'm waiting for the steam update since players will naturally gravitate to the easiest option.

I'm more then willing to try it out if you are. Send me a PM and I can whitelist your server IP to mine on mySQL. Since the database is only for persistence I don't see it being a real issue with performance.

skydive I've got two servers running as pure vanilla. If you want to collaborate I'm willing to do so.
  14. When you absolutely require the true vanilla experience accept no substitute. Also hived between US 434 and 435. US 435 is first person only with no cross hairs.

Cheers TIC321. I forgot the septic bandages. I dare say, I think Epoch has the realism mod which adds weight constraints and puts you in fatigue if carrying too much. For example carrying a DMR and a 7.62 mm Mod would make it very frustrating to run cross country. It's a non-factor in that mod simply because everyone has a deploy bike from toolbox but it would force people to make choices in vanilla. No more carrying 4 tires and an engine in vanilla if it were the case. :-)

Some of the best experiences are trying to stay alive. Getting infected and having to look for meat and water. What's worse is having all the gear you need and by chance you get infected and now you have to look for antis in 'hot' areas. Maximum risk just to stay alive another day. I'd think body decay would be another option. For most players navigating without a map is pretty much pointless. I found out the hard way when playing with a bunch of experienced epoch players. I almost raged out because they couldn't find Stary from Cherno. :(

Beauty of the game in it's current state you can never tell if a player has died from a zombie or human. Even the seasoned pros I have doubts when they die.

Bullet_Catcher I'm all for a consolidated private hive. I haven't admin a server as long as few others I know but I've done it for over a year. Thus for me I'm willing to team with another trusted server admin willing to share a database. Few things I would want: Ability to have access to back ups (If I'm not hosting the database) in case the database dies. Zero network issues with the hive database (If I'm not hosting the database). Agreement we keep the experience consistent (anti-hack, configuration, etc...) Sharing bans (maybe) US 434 and 435 are located on the east coast of NA (Canada). Any other takers in other regions?

At this moment I was able to reproduce on two accounts each on separate machines. Being out of breath comes on very quickly. Not sure what's causing it since I don't have an environment where it's not reproducible.

By the way how did Jimmy get two banners running on his signature? I'd like to promote US 434 and 435 instead of having to choose one of them. Also US 435 is now hived with US 434 but is running as first person only with no cross hairs.

R4Z0R49 you mean to tell me you have not experienced the out of breath behavior? It's interesting to note that I didn't even realize there was this behavior until Borges brought it up months ago. Now on my character it's reproducible all the time when running or walking (side to side). I'm going to have to try it with my kid's steam account (has arma2oa) to see if it's reproducible there. Maybe it's settings on the arma2 profile? I'll play around with it and see. Very interesting problem since you can't reproduce it but Borges and I can.
  22. US 435 Public Vanilla Dayz Mod - (1.8.1/125548)[VETERAN|3DP:OFF|CH:OFF][GMT-11][Reboot8x] - Hosted by eternalgaminglounge.enjin.com Brought back US 435 as first person only and cross hairs off. It's hived with US 434 for some added flexibility.

Actually I'm not entirely opposed to the out of breath behavior. There is actually too much running in the game. Beyond what most people can do. Even if you could run 10+ km per day you will be out of breath. Even short sprints and movements can induce shortness of breath depending on how stressful the situation is. Most of the time in the game people run when IRL they would be walking. For most people the last thing they want to do is to go for a run. Thus consider it a penalty for choosing to run even if it's a short burst. Anyways it's a matter of opinion as to how egregious the behavior is. It's not game breaking for me and the dynamics of watching your breath before and during a firefight is now much more important then before.
