When we were using infistar you had to make sure the wood pile in the config is not a blacklisted item for spawned in items. Yes it's true the wood pile is too OP.

Anybody else having issues with the latest version of Dayzcommander?
geryon replied to uberfrag's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hi Dotjosh, several of noticed how few servers are being listed on DayzCommander. US 434 and 435 used to be listed but they don't appear anymore. I noticed FR34 was not appearing and then today after discussing with Facoptere it's appearing again but FR134 is not listed now. By any chance can look at why the server list has dropped by half from a few days ago? Cheers, Geryon -
I am a world class athlete in Dayzmod. I can run 10 km from the north back to the coast. Snipe some roof top campers on the fire station. Run back to camp another 10 km and call it a night. All this day in and day out carrying gobs of food, M249 and a DMR with all the ammo plus covered in a highly breathable by NorthFace ghillie suit. I've yet to have any muscle strain, never twisted an ankle, no spine problems from humping 50+ lbs. Whenever I get shot by 5.56 round I simply bandage and take a whole box of Tylenol (liver be damned). Normally getting shot by a 5.56 round would have me drinking out of a straw for months but hey like I said I'm a world class athlete in Dayzmod. "Weapon sway"? "We don't need not weapon sway"! "Vamonos muchachos, we have another 10 km hump to kill some fresh spawns"!

It is what it is. Most players deal with it in their own way. It's definitely a factor in the game but most players seem to have learned to live with it and have adapted. That being said players are eagerly waiting for 1.8.3 for the fix.

Hahaha so true.

If it is that's cool. Gives heros another option.

Arma 2 dayZ mod on steam or DayZ Commander?
geryon replied to ReV0x's topic in New Player Discussion
If you are referring to the dayzmod it's the same in Commander and Steam. I would suggest you get use to using Steam since it's the defacto game portal for PC games. Another alternative is to look through gametracker and find a server you might like, then add them to your favorites in Steam. In Steam you can use View | Servers | Favorites and add servers you like similar to Dayz Commander. -
Food for thought. A few of the admins were messing around on our test server and using the infistar admin tool we noted that there is an acog crossbow with grenade and tranquilizer bolts. Tranquilizer bolts works wonders. :-)

Jock, a suggestion would be to keep an empty can and use wells around the map. Just about every town has at least one. Hydrate as much as you can. Eventually you'll find water bottles but in the meantime you can travel around the map by going well to well. In a desperate pinch drink from ponds or lakes. You might get sick but sometimes you'll have to take the lesser side of the shit sandwich. If you are lucky enough to have a tent you can pitch it and sleep off the illness. Once you get the hang of the water the real problem will be food. Get good at sniping rabbits, they are everywhere and sometimes you won't have the luxury of finding a easy kill from a domesticated animal. Boars are not useless either since they give you a little of water and food. Whichever vanilla server you play on stick it out. Most players can't get off the coast so if you stick with it you'll be the few that can survive and thrive deep in Chernarus. That's where all the good loot are. US435 was HC for several months but only a few players were regulars. Eventually I moved it over to a similar config as US 434 to handle the overflow.

Battleye Constantly Keeps Installing and REinstalling
geryon replied to f0twenty's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Not sure if you've tried but try installing it manually from the website: http://www.battleye.com/download.html -
You rarely see zombies because of the following: In Epoch zombies can be throttled on individual spawns per player as well as total count. Also loot spawn radius can be configured as well. Also in Epoch where are most of the players? In trader cities or in middle of nowhere building a base or competing for a mission (these areas don't spawn zombies). With the atrocious build-a-bear (bike) no one stops in the big coastal cities. Hence zombies spawns are minimal or none most of the time for players. The Epoch servers we hosted tended to focus on PVE with mission AI or PVP combat in non-zombie spawning areas. Zombie load was rarely a factor. Nobody but someone completely new to the server even bothered to go to town and loot. Missions provided the gold and anyone with any investment to the server would get what they needed in a trader city. This does not mean that I'm insinuating any root cause of the server lag. I can't even comment on most other servers when full since I haven't had the opportunity to try other vanilla servers near max capacity. Most are in Europe and I'm usually at work during their peak hours. I have played on FR34 with 20+ players and it behaved similar to US 434 with that level of load (performed well). I've played on another 1.8.2 (highly modified) and it was laggy with 25 players so probably not a good comparison. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury to do any radical experimenting on a server that's nearly full with active players nor the knowledge/ability to make a conclusion as to why(s). If anyone active in the community who is capable and wish to take a look (devs :)) I'm more than willing to give access and do your debugging and investigations.

I've taken a look at one of those highly modified servers and their mission file is almost 3 megs large. It's basically a complete change of the mod. When we had an Epoch server it ran with 6000+ objects at 5 fps with 50 players. It was definitely playable. As to why I'm not entirely sure. Epoch does allow more control over zombie and loot spawns. Also with Epoch hardly any one is on the coast which is the opposite of the mod. Player distribution is much more distributed around the map.

My only concern with the cranes is that there is no egress outside of jumping or stairs. If you are spotted it's going to be a waiting game especially against a good counter sniping team. It's also not a dead spot for zombie spawns so that will give you away to a good counter sniping team. I'm not saying you do but logging out from the crane especially if you know a team has spotted you yet you are not in combat (technically not combat logging) is a easy way out (not a fan if this is an out). A few good sniper teams on US 434 follow these rules: Work in 2 man teams. One guy has an LMG plus sniper rifle for security and spotting and the other takes the shot. More then one option of escape. That means going up in a building has to have more then one exit (ladders don't count as exits). This typically eliminates any man made structures. Sniping location must not spawn zombies. Once the shot(s) is taken and the kill is made they leave to set up another spot Travel only on foot or with bikes (silent and fast) Don't get greedy

A bit of rambling... A few smoke and mirror tricks I've used over the weekend as a test: Removed all the debris from the server. Most players hate it when it spawns in right when they are driving over one.Disabled dynamic weatherThese don't affect server fps but it does give the impression to the players client that things are smoother. I've noticed a few other servers who have removed all the grass. This also helps with client fps. In some ways I agree with this because beyond a certain distance grass doesn't render anyways. It's a false sense of security to have some poor sod thinking he is hidden when he actually isn't. Another possible smoke and mirror trick is to remove spawn selection. With it enabled literally everyone spawns in Cherno, Electro or Balota. What that means is that these become choke points for zombies and other players on the screen. If players were randomly distributed along the coast the amount of activity rendered on their screens would be less. I guess if I had to provide feed back on the mod it would be that the spawn locations be more neutral (with respect to loot) then the cities mentioned. Even with 50 players on about 5 people might be off the coast. The rest are mostly in Cherno, Electro and Balota with a handful in Berezino.

Skydive, Here's what I use. I'm not saying it's perfect but it follows form with Dave from MGT who has experience with high population servers. Server FPS does drop but lately I've had very few complaints about zombies and loot not spawning. Primary complaints are lag with new menu items and blood bagging. Question to anyone is there a way to simulate server load without having to have 50 actual real players log in? :-) i.e. player simulation load tool. Anyways it's probably not even the recent changes to the mod. So many things have changed such as the patch level of the executable and battleye. Random FPS drops (Just started after Gamespy > Steam migration)
geryon replied to Arteh's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Arteh, set the command line so that you are not logging on the client side. Here is what I use. -noPause -nosplash -skipintro -mod=@Dayz; -noPatchCheck -winxp -nologs It may help a little. -
Random FPS drops (Just started after Gamespy > Steam migration)
geryon replied to Arteh's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Arteh, I've learned to live with the occasional stutter every 30 mins to an hour frequency. I have however turned off all the unnecessary processes while playing. I just leave TS3, steam and the game on. DayzCommander and/or Launcher are closed. Never use them now. -
DayZ Mod really low fps lately? Any help?
geryon replied to BUckENbooz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It happens everywhere. You are not alone. There are various posts here and on reddit with people noticing this behavior. -
Random FPS drops (Just started after Gamespy > Steam migration)
geryon replied to Arteh's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You are not the only one. Ever since the steam patch of arma2oa (not 100%) I've noticed this as well. Every 30 minutes to an hour I'll get the 'whoa wtf' frame stutter and back to normal again. It's not game breaking but it is noticeable. I've got several machines in the house (PC gaming kids and me) with FX-8320, i7 and i5 with GTX670s and they all do it when playing the mod. It's not just dayzmod but all the other derivatives (epoch, overpoch, etc...). -
FR 34 / FR 129 RAID WINE Servers Thread
geryon replied to facoptere's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You sure this is a ban? I remember we talked about this and it happens when you unload/load an injured player from a vehicle. Apparently it's in the dayz_code. -
I was on a 4 hour restart. Had no issues with it when the server population was around 20-30 players. I know they recommend 3 hour restarts but I made the tactical decision to do 4 hours to allow players to continue playing (secret secret admin Jedi mind tricks). The 3 hour restart tends to break continuity and is usually a point where players log out for the night. However I've switched over to 3 hour restarts like yourself.

A throwback to the DayZ Vanilla mod. I recently climbed up the old sniper tower of Cherno, and looked over the once alive city that i knew of in 2012
geryon replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Nice picture. How is it so empty in Cherno? Normally it is still a cesspool of sorrow and despair for fresh spawns. -
Okay thank you again for the reply. I ran with -showScriptErrors and no issues. I'll think this over and consider adjusting the restarts and player count. Unfortunately the Xenon chip is already at 3.4 ghz so not too much I can do and probably not worth the cost for a slight better single core processing unit. Now only if there was a way to consolidate multiple cores into a single virtual cpu and run the server over a VM.

Okay thank you R4z0r. Yah I don't want to mess about too much if at all. Been there and done that with Epoch and it's a royal pain on upgrades. Here's a list of issues that we see on US 434 when nearing 50 players. I realize there's nothing you can do with my personal environment Following menus stop appearing: cooking, boiling and fill jerry can (the ones I've noticed). Requires a log out to lobby or disconnect completely and re-log to remedy (not sure if this is simply spurious correlation).Loot and zombies stop spawning in for certain players. I've noticed this with myself personally.Server FPS hangs around 3-5 fps.
