    What would YOU class as HARDCORE?

    Start with the vanilla dayzmod and place the arma settings to Mercenary. Set it to first person only with realistic moon and night/day cycles. If you have to modify the server by adding a building system like Epoch so be it but limit the building to small ad-dons to existing buildings. The building concept is nice but why would anyone spend time and effort building when there are thousands of serviceable homes all over Chernarus? No other modifications except bug fixes. Why I would not use Epochmod as a basis for a hardcore server: Zombies are too easy and a non-factor.Traders (either pre-stocked with goods or filled by players). It allows for persist-able loot locations.Too militarized even OOTB. Backpacks can carry way too much stuff.Propensity for AI missions on servers (kills the economy and the need to loot). Don't get me wrong I like Epoch as I've got thousands of hours playing the mod but as a basis for a hard core server it has some challenges.
  3. US 434 welcomes groups, clans and lone wolves. Everyone is welcome except for hackers. The server has been up and running for a few months but quite honestly myself and the player base is getting tired of the hackers. Thus the server has been moved over to a whitelisting model.     I agree gaining redemption for killing people by killing more people seems wrong. Preserving lives should be the logical way to gaining humanity.

    Making self defense possible?

    Another suggestion. Maybe make the bandit skin require a much lower humanity. Maybe -10k. Also not everyone's cup of tea but for the most part I think iconic representations should be removed or very hard to obtain. It would really add uncertainty to encounters. I've said this before my friendly killer is my hero. He who protects me is my friend. I also don't view a bandit as immediate KOS. I've met so many 'bandits' that were very trust worthy. For me a player's actions speak more than their skin. For example if a player is hanging out in roofs or perched up on a hill they are more likely to be shot then stumbling on a few bandits cooking meat in the forest. I'm also against gaining humanity killing bandits. Killing humans by it's very nature is inhumane regardless of whether that person is good or bad. If we keep status quo with skins maintaining a high humanity should be a badge of honor. It's indicative of a person who's valued human life regardless of whether the person deserved to live.

    I like finding fishing poles. It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds. Go along the coast and rummage around the canoes on the coast. Once you locate and make a mental note of key wells hydration isn't a problem even without all the tools to boil water. North of Electro, Pusta has a well. It's normally quite and you can drink in peace with the exception of the rowdy townies (zombies). There is a few residentials and a long barn where you might find some food and other gear. I normally by pass the nonsense that happens in Electro and go up north to Pusta.

    I've seen heavily modified servers with 3 meg mission files that run reasonably well with 75 with 1.8.2. It looks like you got the specs to run a higher max player count. Would be interested to see how it goes.

    Cheers vinyljunkie, it's been fun. We use to run an Epoch server and it was never as busy as the mod yet effort to admins was much much higher (lots of admin burn out). Thus I'm a big fan of most of the dayzmod players. They are such low maintenance that running a server has been fun again.

    Ah gotcha, glad you are on the latest version. We need to keep vanilla alive and healthy. Looking to see how well your first person only Fridays go. I know there are players who want it but so far whenever I've had a server with first person only hardly anyone has played. Right now I've placed another server up with first person only, no map waypoints and no death messages. Hopefully people will try it out.

  16. Some suggestions that will focus more on surviving and make combat much more dangerous. Being injured should be looked upon as a very bad situation. Not sure how it will workout in game play but just some ideas/ramblings. Remove the ability of morphine to mend broken bones. Instead use morphine to prevent the chance of a player going into shock if they lose more than half their blood. Otherwise the ability to control your character goes away. Eventually the shock wears off after 5-10 minutes or so but has a chance of coming back randomly until blood level comes back over half. Important part here for me is that if you are wounded and in shock the chances are you will bleed out before getting your senses back to bandage.Wooden splints should be the only way to set broken bones. Make painkillers only effective for reducing pain effects while blood is above 50% otherwise it doesn't work or it's benefits are significantly less. In other words you have to use morphine instead.Make the application of n number of morphine applications within a short time frame knock the player out with a small chance of killing themCan the tranquilizer darts for the crossbow be in the loot tables?Make blunt melee weapons have a chance of knocking players out

    With respect to the barrel rendering issue it does happen on US434 but on FR129 I see the flames but the barrels don't render. Facoptere did you remove the barrels from rendering?

    Not sure if the fatigue can be brought back a bit. Currently the fix in 1.8.3 results in zero sway. For technical reasons If it can't be placed in a middle ground between 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 I understand. Outside of the barrel graphics glitch I noticed only certain trees you can harvest wood. Mainly evergreens and small trees. Not sure it's due to the performance changes but the availability of animals is much more consistent even when near full population. So far I think the performance improvements are doing what it's supposed to.

    There's actually at least four servers. Also adoption is traditionally slow ever since dayzcommander takes it's time making the mod available. I also believe BE filter adjustments resulted in slow adoption. Had quite a few server owners jump on our TS to ask for help. Typically I make my adjustments but I don't post them due to additional filters I have for JSRS. Facoptere has already posted working filters for 1.8.3 so owner's who want to upgrade can do it without issues.

    I noticed similar issues last night in the military tents in Berezino on US 434. It was around 6:00 pm game time and all the barrels were lit.
