I see your post on the EGL forum and the admins will discuss the issue. However considering the dialog with yourself and the admin, the lack of clarity on what is enforceable and the fact that I won't overrule an admin's decision the temporary ban will remain. I do acknowledge that the base building paradigm is new to the mod and that there's preconceived notions on griefing derived off of the epoch mod. We'll discuss and define what is appropriate. As I said before personally I'm against honor system rules since they take away from the spirit of the mod. Regards, Thomas

I'll ask to see what was up. Do you know who the admin was? Personally I'm not in favor of honor system rules that the game can't enforce themselves.

I think it might be due to the increase in the max zombie count. In 1.8.3 the max zombies was 300. When the cap is very large in a full server you'll exceed that number (I've seen around 420+). Prior to 1.8.3 the max zombie count was 10000 if my memory serves me correct and we had similar issues (note I've never seen a server go above 450+). Within 1.8.3 there was less video lag which might have been to less zombies and thus less overall server load. Anyways just a thought. There's 3 things you can do: Throttle your zombiesReduce your player countGet a screaming haswell chip that's closer to 4.0ghz for your server.

So far so good on US434 but only tried for like 5-6 minutes. We'll see as the comments as the players are on later today. Thank you for the quick fix.

Okay I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down. https://github.com/DayZMod/DayZ/issues/333 I can't comment if the base classnames appearing in US434 is local or a global issue though. People who are builders or dev could comment.

I have the same problem and numerous players have the issue as well. It doesn't matter if the server is full or empty. I'm curious if it's related to battleye. I might try it on a test server to see if the behavior exists with battleye removed. Edit: Ran the test server without battleye and it was smooth as silk. No stuttering. Will try tonight with battleye again to confirm opposite behavior.

I'm more for Soviet type weapons and less Nato ones. This Chernarus after all. The Nato weapons should be only found in heli-crashes with most being iron sight 5.56 and the less common ones having some sort of optics. The 7.62 Nato guns should be super rare. However with a change to the weapons in the loot table, sniper weapons should be very rare and the focus should be less militaristic and more survival. You can still have PvP and squad based battles but the propensity for squads with MOD, M249, M14 and DMRs being the primary weapons should be toned down. Anyways that's my wish list... -
Sorry guys I can't do much to provide input on the test build. I'm in Hemmel Hempstead on a work trip. However I'm really pleased with the performance improvements I'm reading.

It's good to hear. I placed JSRS but I did remove the Arma 3 Epoch server and placed it on another machine. It took more CPU cycles than I was comfortable with. That's probably help more than anything else. It looks like the stability issues were due to this as well.

Logging out on top of a building puts you stuck on the first floor. It requires admin intervention.

Depends on the server but if you use the default private hive schema there are helis that spawn. There should be a huey, Mi-17, 2 seat littebird and a 4-6 seater. There should also be a bi-plane.

Advance steps: Spawn in Kamenka and go north to Zelnogorsk. There's a hospital, firehouse and and a grocery store. There's also bike spawns too. Avoid the nonsense of Cherno and Electro. Then go north to Pustoshka (barns and another grocery store). By then you have enough gear to risk the NWAF. Another option is to spawn in Electro and head straight to Pusta then Mogliveka, then Novy and Stary (good chance of heli crashes in the fields). This is more dangerous but if you are itching for action and quick gear this is a good route. At least if you get KOS the guy(s) doing it will have something to lose (they are usually well geared) and proficient at PvP. Typically in Electro and Cherno it's basically bandit wannabe survivors and hill campers shooting at unarmed survivors.

Use the following link for a reasonable location of vehicle spawns. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarus However on most high pop servers they won't be there because someone's already taken them. I'm assuming you are new so I'd focus on surviving and then thriving without a vehicle. Note if the server is modified you can throw out the locations. Look to deanzphx's six part series on starting out with the mod (youtube). The series is current with the version.

Look up deanzphx gaming channel on youtube. He has a 6 part series surviving for new players. It's not mine but it's the best (maybe only) guide with the current patch of the mod.

AndersE, I agree with your sentiment with weapons. There's too many 7.62 Nato rifles in the game. I suppose server owners could alter the loot tables to focus more on Eastern Block weapons and only limit Nato weapons at Western Heli Crash sites. However altering them would mean the server is 'not' vanilla which I won't do and call our servers Vanilla. As for scoped weapons vs iron sights I believe they are more common now than 10 years ago in most armies. Thus end game gear should be scoped G36, M4, M16s or AK variants. The holy grail of weapons should be 7.62 battle rifles, DMR, Snipers and SVD. These should be very very rare like NVGs. Right now organized groups frequently carry MK 48 MODs and a DMR in tandem (or similar load out pattern) for almost the whole squad. I'll try to add this as a request in Github later this week.

As to the M107 I'm on the fence. Back in the day the typical gear cheaters use to log into the server with the typical hacker load out which included a .50 cal. The guns became much more prevalent than the loot tables would justify. Maybe make it so they can't use a backpack due to weight as a compromise.

We'll be moving away from these crutches slowly. Next will be crosshairs and then after that we'll remove waypoints so you can't ghetto range finders. Players will have to use the map and the topography to navigate.

We've created a niche for ourselves by staying true to form. :) Sometimes sticking to your guns and not pandering to the masses works out. -
Correct no backpacks in stashes. Also stash upgrades must be with the creator's life. If you die you can't upgrade. It's best to gather all the parts and upgraded to the level you want.

I do acknowledge it can be done with Epoch it just needs some work from the server owner. I see you've done a few things to improve the difficulty. With respect to building in lootable areas why not let the players work it out? If some poor sod(s) want to build in a high value area they are going to get raped, while on and/or offline? Anyways good post.
