Hey sorry you are having troubles. I'm on the same box as you and lately BEC has been crapping out. Basically I've stopped using it for restarts. Hopefully HFB gets your server running back to normal.

I do agree people should chill on people's opinions but I have to disagree with you on the run to NWAF. By far the best loot are still in the heli-crash sights. I've also found the Stary, Balota and the firehouses good enough to not have to go straight to the barracks. Well at least you don't have to bee-line it there. Also with the nerfed hangers there is less reason to go to the NWAF IMO

I can concur this as well. Many people complaining on side chat and experienced this myself. Workarounds as klesh describes work as well.

Best settings for spotting people

Best way to spot people is to maintain situational awareness. Regardless of settings if you don't practice good awareness you'll be that asshat that gets constantly sniped or ambushed or worse complain that some one invisible killed you. Periodically stop and notice any movement.Swivel your headZoom in and zoom out into likely ambush areasWhen stopped scan across other tree lines with binos or teloscoped riflesEven in the forest run from one hard point to another. Try to avoid using auto key press and going for a smoke.I have a decent system but the settings are not maxed out. I do this to keep a constant 60 fps in the game. For me it isn't entirely about advantage but what for me is the optimal game performance without having it look like arse. Yes I don't need 60 fps to play Dayz but it affords enough tolerance to handle situations in the big cities were the fps can drop significantly. By the way game looks stunning on max but I'm not about to fall off the roof of the firehouse because of lag. -

Most people on the server who are teamed up have one point or another shot or killed each other on their first encounter. Becoming a regular on one server is the key. You should try to avoid server hopping (not saying you are).

Player1 has a habit of finding helis and crashing them. Well maybe he is good at finding them all I know he appears in the logs in one day of crashing a littlebird, Mi-17 and the bi-plane. Player2 had his GUID globally banned today. He's logged in again with what he says is his friend's account. Question: Should I ban Player1 for the bis_greetedpeople? I see posts here about it and nothing conclusive in the posts Should I ban Player2 since I know he was banned just the same day with another key? Should I ban both and let them find another server to play on? Just watch and see if anything else goes on.? They are not disruptive and play as cooperative players with others and have been in the community for a while so I don't see immediate damage if I let them stay. Or do I ban since if it quacks and walks like a duck, it is a duck. Looking for opinions. -

Cannibalism in Dayz Standalone

Cannibalism is an act of desperation. Most cultures there are strict taboos ingrained in the psychi that beyond extreme conditions most people will go hungry. This goes with eating grubs, ants and other bugs. The mechanic should be severely limited. Possibly only let it be active when your blood is below 2000 and the player's hunger meter is indicating starvation. Other then that I think it adds authenticity to the game. -
If it was easy everyone would be playing it. It's suppose to be hard.

Would your health not degrade with mal-nutrition, lack of medical attention and stress. If you've seen soldiers exposed to prolonged stress they start to lose weight and get less combat worthy. I think if there is a trade off it would be better. Advantage being one with one's environment while your body breaks down due to the constant pounding and stress the harsh environment gives you. The advantages and negatives need to be very subtle though. They can't be very blatant and should be overcome by better players. -

Whether it's cells or simply making the map bigger it doesn't matter to me. Simply put 15 x 15 is too small for a survival type of game play. The vastness of the map will remove most of the action KOS junkies. Not saying the threat of death or murder will disappear nor would you want to but yoloswag style game play will be non-existent. Since the world is so massive we should allow team spawning. Unless you want that the incredible journey experience to meet your buddy. I would suggest the environment be much more dangerous. Weather should be much more of a factor. Dangerous animals too, possibly? Finding food should be a lot harder in the woods (outside of the rural areas) i.e. big game hunting . Kudos on the economy system idea as well. -

Going to need to land on something to break your fall. I once parked the huey on the international hotel in Cherno and logged out. After restart I discovered to my horror the heli had blown up. I jumped since I didn't want to starve up there. I landed in one of those garbage bins and broke my leg and was bleeding but not dead. After some morphine and bandage I dusted myself off and went on my merry way. Maybe request a rescue for some heros to bring a vehicle or shoulder to land on. Ditto on the 417 days, my word how did you survive the horror show of the early years of dayz with the thunder domes, nuking and Jim Jones mass suicide murders?

Vanilla isn't in that bad of a shape. Prior to the 1.8.0.2 patch US 434 would peak to 15-25 players but typically stayed under 10 most of the time. Definitely not high population but not entirely vacant either. If you are not into PVP fests I would stick to medium population servers where people remember each other. Establish yourself, let people know you and build relationships. It's very hard to do that on high population servers now a days since most of the douche hill campers and action junkies log in there for something thrilling. However populations have dropped quite a bit with the latest patch. People are in shock with the loot spawning and think it is broken.

Make the map so huge encountering someone will be a novelty and unique experience. Equivalent to the size of a small country or state. KOS won't happen as much because meeting people to gather news, trade and assistance would be more beneficial. Chances of meeting someone again would be rare enough that building relationships would be more important. Hill camper will be almost non-existent since the geography (not the game) will prevent this type of play. Geography and the sheer size would also discourage action junkies looking for kill ratios in the big cities. IMO the 15x15 is simply too small. It's still not big enough to prevent the common style of fps gaming (team death match and free for all death match). -
