Taking Back Chernogorsk (Machinima that needs actors)
JSparks (DayZ) replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I'm Jake. I'll play any part, do whatever, I'm relatively efficient with all weapons and I know what I'm doing. If you'd like me to help please add my Skype: JSparks225 Cheers! :) -
Kamenka should become a main city and there should be a military base (with loot) at green mountain. Hopefully in standalone having more balanced loot (for example all buildings being enter able and lootable), it will lead people away from the two biggest cities.

Is the game on the SSD? If so you'll have to move your entire steam library to the disk.
-
You have no CD key, you need to either reinstall your game or manually add your key to your registry.

First and foremost welcome to DayZ. :) The servers in DayZ seem to run in a fashion unlike most other games. I'll do my best to explain the terminology you were asking about. Private hive - Servers that aren't connected to the public hive. In the 'old days' you would log out of one server and be able to connect to another with the same gear, however now barely any servers are connected to the public hive, meaning that this no longer applies. Vanilla servers - Servers without mods, e.g. no added buildings, unmodified loot tables. Origins - A mod for DayZ Taviana. As for everything else you said, I will do my best to answer it all in one paragraph. Your items are saved on the hive that you are currently playing on, meaning that if you log into a different hive your items will not be with you. Your vehicles and tents, however, are only saved on the server and will not be present on shared-hive servers, but rather only the server you found them on. As for them remaining where they are, it's more a matter of whether someone finds them or not. In a best-case scenario, yes.

Heh. On a more serious note, all you will need to do is reinstall BattlEye. Go to your BE Directory (C:\Program Files)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2\BattlEye) and run UnInstallBE.exe. Now open ArmA II with steam and BE will automatically be installed. Also make sure your beta patch is up to date.

Will DayZ be overshadowed by next-gen consoles at E3?
JSparks (DayZ) replied to Stoddy15's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've lost all faith in consoles. They will never rival PC in anything, and they can never be upgraded in quite the same way PCs can, so they have one set of specs that may grow outdated very fast. -
Failed to read, my bad. If it's on a disk then uninstalling and reinstalling shouldn't be so painful. If you clear your registry of all Bohemia Interactive Studio entries that can clear up issues as well. Open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432node/Bohemia Interactive Studio/ArmA II OA/. There should be a value called KEY that shows when you select the ArmA II OA Folder. Copy down what it says in the 'data' section. That is your CD key, in hex format. I recommend writing it on a piece of paper.

Well you also have texture filtering quality set to the lowest possible. Have you tried adjusting that?

No, turning off ATOC will cancel pixelation caused by enabling ATOC.

*GUIDE* What You Need To Head North! (list / description of items)
JSparks (DayZ) replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
You could just do what I do and beeline to Stary. Good loot, and it's only a 6km run. After all, who needs supplies when you have swag? -
Revalidate your game caches for both ArmA II and ArmA II OA. If all else fails, defrag and reinstall. Also, if this happens again in future, google is your friend. Check out this tutorial if you want to verify the game cache.

90% of players don't even know how to connect via IP nowadays.

Turn off ATOC for trees and grass. It makes them render in higher resolution with more depth but also seems to make them pixelate. If you want unblurred trees & grass turn terrain detail to high. Just a heads-up though, it takes its toll on performance.

For all who don't know about the cd-key theft.
JSparks (DayZ) replied to Hemgehli's topic in New Player Discussion
This has been ongoing for what, about half a year now? It's practically become common knowledge. -

[New Mod] DayZ Civilian [Work in progress]!

Music to my ears. You've already set yourself apart from Breaking Point just in doing that. -
[New Mod] DayZ Civilian [Work in progress]!
JSparks (DayZ) replied to purplish's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Looks to me like you just ripped some mods off ArmAHolic, made them compatible and packaged them as one. Unless you really know what you're doing, I expect bad performance, limited compatibility and very, very low FPS. Nothing personal. Best luck with the mod, I have no doubt it will be great to play. You'll see me there. Also I am somewhat a developer and if I can offer my service I'd love to. Sent you a Skype request. :) -
As soon as I heard "what is love" I had one thought.

6 New decayed Zeds ? that's against what rocket said

What's to stop an infected human losing flesh and rotting due to lack of personal hygiene? They eat raw flesh, are covered in blood and would attract all kinds of disease and parasites. -
How will servers be handled in SA?
JSparks (DayZ) replied to BioHazard050's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hope they remove side chat or at least limit it to text. There is no need for it and having reduced admin powers would only make things worse as players could not be banned for talking. -
Houses, inspired by the origins mod.
JSparks (DayZ) replied to 5carecrow's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
To be fair, houses in the origins mod were based off suggestions on the DayZ forums. -
If you're on a budget go for the 7850, but with the 7870 you get a marginal difference for a not so marginally different price. So it's really up to you.
-
I use the 7850, very clear performance and runs DayZ 40+ FPS (depending on the server), up to 90 in single player. It's very good if you're looking for a budget, high performance card. And just a word of advice, update the drivers. It makes a huge difference in performance.

Hello everyone, Just thought I'd start a discussion out of insight and boredom. I was recently playing DayZ and some other DayZ related mods, and it's come to my attention that DayZ is set in an odd time. It lacks many modern cars and features many older types, yet some features suggest otherwise. I sort of concluded it being somewhere in the late 1990s or early 2000s, because there are some vehicles (for example the Volkswagen Golf MK IV, which is the earliest model that resembles the in game golf) that have only been around in years prior to the 1990s. However it would be flawed to assume the mod as being based then; as there are some features of the map that suggest either Chernarus being a small settlement country (having slow development) or being set quite early in the modern age. I was thinking about vehicles and how little variety there is, and I was pondering weather (either in future mod releases or the standalone), more modern cars will be added. If I were to walk outside right now and observe the cars coming past on the street, I would likely see a lot more variety than single-colour, single-model cars as seen in the mod. In this new age there are many, many types, colours and builds of vehicle that are available to the public, and I just feel that they deserve their own place in game. My questions for you are: -When do you think DayZ is set and why? -Would you prefer to see a more modern setting in DayZ (larger buildings, more modern vehicles, more variety)? -Would you prefer DayZ be based in the present or the past, and why. -If DayZ were to include more vehicles, which types would you like to see? Bring the discussion!
