inb4 ban Great thought though OP. Liking the idea of distinctive rain noises; would maybe make the rain, the dark, and the cold a little more inviting and a lot more terrifying. Dare I say it could make it a little more immersive.

Hi guys, I've been inactive for a long time prior to the standalone release but now seeing as it's made its debut, I should probably ask about some plans I have in order to get some idea of the community's response. So, first and foremost. I've been planning to make a YouTube channel for some time but my PC doesn't run DayZ well enough to record and I don't really play much else. I played more DayZ mod than I'd like to mention, so I know it like the back of my hand. Loved the mod, so far loving the standalone despite it's early release status. My computer runs the standalone well enough to record quality videos, and there's no better time to start the channel up than now. Anyway. I have some key questions for you guys as a community. Please answer honestly and just give me your feedback, thoughts, etc. Anything is appreciated. :) -Would you, personally, be interested in a DayZ SA mythbusters series on YouTube? -Would you be more interested in a DayZ tutorial or guide series similar to that of DayZGuideZ? -Do you think that a DayZ standalone tutorial or mythbusters series would actually benefit the community/game? Would it be an appreciated undertaking? If you have any thoughts at all, let me know. Cheers! JSparks (Late edit) Just so you know, if I were to do tutorials it would be more than just short things. I'd plan to have more intricate or in depth tutorials going, for example how to give a blood transfusion from A-Z, crafting system basics, advanced crafting system recipes, etc. etc.

I was thinking with the new release there would be an abundance of myths to test. Thanks for the support; I'll most likely go through with this.

Yeah, versions will be included. Of course I'll specify that it's in pre-alpha, lol. I've done some collabs with other channels before and I've made a bunch of videos. Proficient in photoshop and sony vegas so it should hopefully work out. Thanks for the feedback! :beans:

Mate, you banned me for using the name "painkillers". Apparently someone else used the name before and was banned, and I got called out simply for having the name and banned. Can you lift it please? I assure you, it was purely coincidental that I was using the name.

This is a direct rip from this thread, assuming you've yet to read it. Alternatively, make sure all of your drivers are up to date. I had a similar problem and fixed it by downloading drivers for the sound card, video card (with onboard sound) and headset. Also you should try running ArmA II as admin and see if that changes anything. :)

I would really recommend windows 7 for gaming, just saying. May well fix your problem. In case you're not sure how to add launch params it's in DayZ commander, under settings > additional launch parameters. As for your gamma, go to settings > graphics settings. There's a gamma and brightness slider there.

If you're playing at 1000 ping, the game will be unenjoyable regardless. Check if you have any applications or FTP programs running while you play, as they can cause strong ping inconsistency.

I love that there are populated first person only servers.

I intended to point out that for $600 you're not going to run DayZ smoothly, and I then recommended buying secondhand to decrease costs. Sorry if that was unclear. :P

What I want in a DayZ server? That's a tough question. An easier one is what I don't want. I hate how all of today's servers are those "Spawn fully geared, PVP central" types. I would love to see a popular vanilla server, perhaps where you spawn with a Hatchet and there are a few odd extra buildings. You could satisfy everyone on the DayZ forum in one server.

The above PC is not bad, you don't ever need more than 8GB RAM unless you plan to run graphic design/editing programs a lot, and even in that case 8 should suffice unless you're running two or more at once. You may want to upgrade the video card though, the 7750 is both a budget model and two generations old. I would recommend buying a 760, and in the case of you needing a better card just buy a second one (they're $250 each). It's been proven that 2 GTX 770's can outperform a titan quite easily and at about half the price. Realistically though, you will need to spend a fair amount of money to run ArmA II well, as it's a very unpredictable game and can vary so heavily by server. Even computers with two 690's in CrossFire still get drops to 20 or less FPS as times, though very rarely. If you want my advice, go for a second hand PC. Search eBay or craigslist until you find one cheap near you, assess the value of the PC and, if it's good bang for buck, buy it. I bought, a few months ago, a setup with a HD 7850 and 2550K processor. I upgraded to a 770 and it runs DayZ as clear as I could hope to get it, and what's more it only cost me $150 more (after selling the 7850), for a total of $750. So in all honesty, there is value in buying pre-owned hardware, so long as you are cautious about it. If you do choose to do this, add me on Skype and I'll help you sort it out. Brilliant, could not have described it better myself. I do have the head developer's Skype details, so I guess I might talk to him about having a new dev team work on updating DayZ+ and keeping it modern. There's a shred of hope left for the mod.
