  1. pffft, screw the military clothing. I want Real Tree Hunting camo!
  2. I wasn't sure what people were using, and with that other thread telling others to buy a new rig to play the game so that others could play at thier level. I wanted to know how many were actually using the higher stuff. As the majority of the thread seemed to have the good hardware. I made my fist post as neutral as possible in a way to see if they were being realistic. And as of this writing more players have or exceed the minimum they are asking for. But right now it still sits at just about half the players.
  3. Gews did a whole run of weapons with thier accuracies. If I remember correctly, the M24 was the most accurate sniper in the game. I already liked the M24 before that. I know how the mil dot system works when it comes to finding the range of your target. As Gews said earlier in this post. He likes the SVD because of his ability to use it at about any range. I would agree with his play style but I prefer the M16 ACOG for the same reasons he likes the SVD. I just don't get that range he can with an SVD.
  4. As said before already. ArmA is heavy on the CPU. You might want to put what Proc you are using as well. The 670 is a very good card for this game. As many people get away with far less. They just need a CPU that can keep up. Because in this game, the CPU is the bottle neck... also the hard drive has a say as well. A number of people use RAMDISK instead as it basicly turns your RAM into a hard drive. Helps a lot from what I keep hearing. Since my main Rig only has 4 gigs of ram, I haven't used it as allocating 1 gig of ram would seem like it might hurt the game performance when I have other programs going on my second monitor.
  5. A lot of area to cover, and still knowing at any moment that if I become complacent in my observation of the surroundings, my retarded ass will die from a bandit. As said, bandits have a place in the game. Getting on a care bear server is no fun at all. Sure I am friendly, and try to help. But its the Bandits that keep me on my toes. As long as they are not teleporting, using god mode, or ESP, I don't mind them taking me out. If I was stupid or taking a risk... well it was a risk.
  6. Until you remember that the retard will no doubt be dieing of disease in a few hours. :P
  7. Nice work on those bottles! As for shooting at them. I don't think that would fit well. But who is to say that you couldn't open them and saturate a room with it and shoot at something that will spark. <.<
  8. I can relate with your oppinion. The stuff you don't like, I mostly wont be dressed like that, though I may have a helmet But, I beleieve that letting some one be as unique as possible, allows for better identification of who your friends are. I would thinks this would prevent a lot of "Jason is that you? Jason wait, that's me! Wait that.... *bang, dead*... wasn't Jason." Also, helmets have a real goal in SA. They will help with bullets, and also help with being knoched out as they have changed how heath works. Get hit by a zombie with no helmet and you are going to have your lights out.
  9. Another reason for why I put that link up, is for those who are thinking of an upgrade, can look at how the stats are and decide if dropping the money is worth what ever gain they are getting. I don't agree with locking graphics settings. My own gaming rig is a 2008 rig. Core 2 Duo, on an socket that was discontinued a year later. So no more upgrade option. I'm at the point I need to buy a new system. But right now, the dropping of a grand for a new CPU, MOBO and RAM isn't in my budget right now. So I still am using the rig. It does pretty desent. I have the HD 6870 becuase the HD 4870 (just released at the time of construction) fried while playing DayZ... in the middle of electro. I bought the 6870 for 80 bucks off Ebay. It was used when I bought it but the vendor had a very good reputation with a return policy. At the time of buying it, it was worth 215 on the market. Right now that same card brand new is worth about USD 190.00 ish. When I build the new rig, I will be content with the 6870 for a couple of more years.
  10. Just realized I put this up in the wrong thread, this was not intended to be in the Suggestions thread, I apologize. May I please have this moved to General Discussion?
  11. From looking around the forums. It would look like many of the players, for this kind of subject want you to have a GTX660 card. Then lock the settings so that is the "optimized" graphics that every one plays on is about 30 fps. So, if we were going to run with this, and assuming you had the CPU to keep the bottle neck to a minimum. You would need to have this kind of benchmark or better for your card. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/660?vs=540 Go ahead and change the HD 6870 setting around to what kind of card you are currently using. If you do not meet the minimum requirements of the GTX 660 benchmark, you will need to upgrade to play this game. I use the 6870, and you will see I will have to also upgrade as well. Cost of a GTX 660 as of June 02, 2013 = USD $214.99 Don't forget the CPU new mobo and RAM if you are on a really old system. As that will be your bottle neck and not the video card. I used to play using a HD 4870... interesting thing is, it fried while i was playing DayZ. It was an old card, but still...
  12. Not really a suggestion as there have been plenty of those. This is just a video I stumbled upon where this group uses oil filters as silencers. Sure they use an attachment that is manufactured. But I'm pretty sure I could metal lathe something similar as a ghetto rig.
  13. What server was this on? Was it a private hive or public hive? If it was private, there is nothing that can be done. Also reporting admin abuse goes to another thread, here is a link that should help you out. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22386-admin-abuse-what-you-need-to-know/
  14. Duct tape and oil filters? I would think so. :P
  15. I had a topic in there that vanished off the first page in an hour. Didn't get any responses after it fell off the first page. Just a topic discussing my experiences as a Server Admin. So ya, I would be in support of OPs idea.
  16. The fuel is called JP8. Basically every military vehicle runs off of it. HMMVE's, Deuce and a half's, STRIKERS, C130, Helos. Also can run off Diesel. They said that the HMMVE's could run off gas in an emergency during driving school, but I never tried it.
  17. The current system dosn't work. I support the system, but it dosn't work. To many times have I been killed by heroes who come over and say. "Dumb Ass, you thought I was a Hero didn't you?" Many bandits exploit the system with blood bagging thier buddies to get a hero skin. You can't even trust heroes.
  18. After I logged off for the night, I got to thinking, I don't know if I would be playing DayZ if Chernarus had the same gun laws as the strict countries in various places of the world have. Places where people don't even know some one who knows some one who has a weapon. Some of the countries make sharp knifes over three inches long illegal. The appeal of running around with only cricket bats, hockey sticks, axes and 2x4s with nails sticking out of them. Really doesn't sound like something I would stick around for. My play style is that of a ranger, I run around the woods living off the animal meat and water ponds. Going into town only when I need medical supplies or something else to do. My prefered weapon is the M16 ACOG, the longer range for picking zombies off with out agro or pulling over watch for a friend who is going in while I pick those zombies off for him from range. No agro for iether of us. Now sure, there are times when I switch to my hatchet for stealth killing of a zombie, but it isn't my primary weapon and I wouldn't want it to be. With the .50s out now, there is no longer a fast way to disable a vehicle either. It is now a guaranteed exit strategy. As for their one shot kills on people, sounds pretty realistic to me. Even if they were semi automatic. Sounds like real life to me as well. Like I said, I prefer weapons in the game to mimic their real life counter part. Not be modified for game balancing issues.
  19. There are many countries out there who have tight regulations with weapons. There are also many out there who have loose regulations as well. Chernarus is a Fictitious Country. With three sides. The Russians, The militia group, and then a US backed Chernarus military. Since this place dosn't egsist and is right next to Russia, Lets use thier Gun laws. Russia According to Russia's gun laws, Russian citizens can buy smoothbore shotguns, such as, for example Saiga 12, gas pistols, or revolvers shooting rubber bullets. Safe use of one of the above weapons for five years allows purchase of a rifle or carbine.[70] In Moscow alone, some 400,000 people legally keep 470,000 weapons. Okay, you may say well it is based off something in real life. Great, it is based off of Czech Republic. Fine, okay, more restrictive as they have grades of weapons. But hitting up a military base or police station would easily supply you with military grade weapons. Gun politics in the Czech Republic incorporates the political and regulatory aspects of firearms usage in the country. Policy in the Czech Republic is in many respects less restrictive than elsewhere in Europe (see Gun politics in the European Union). The most recent Gun Act was passed in 2001, replacing the previous law and tightening the legislation slightly. Firearms in the Czech Republic are available to anybody without a criminal record and aged above 18 (or 21 for certain license categories). Self-defense is an acceptable justification to obtain a firearms license. The Czech gun laws also permit a citizen to carry a concealed weapon without having to specify a reason. In 2010, there were 311,876 licenses and over 700,000 registered firearms[9] (for the 10,7 million population) Math = 1 in 15 houses has one. Any thing more this Moronic 'murrican can help you with?
  20. If I remember correctly from posts a long time ago from Rocket. He wanted things to be real and not based off of the current definition of "balance" based on what the current game world says it is. A M107 is semi automatic, it is real. And a common sniper weapon as well. I don't want to see weapons in the game that have been modified to "balance well" I want weapons in the game that are pretty close to how they are in real life. Most hunting rifles are bolt actions. This slows things down for those that want "balance". But you don't go around modifying what the actual performance of the weapon is in real life just so that it balances in game mechanics. Who knows you may end up finding a rifle that you really like and decide that you might want to add that to your weapons safe. And I have used the .50 cals before. I prefered my m16 ACOG. And if I sniped it was with a M24. I normally would use the .50s for taking out vehicles quickly.
  21. When I see a guy in a suit, I think of a car salesman. The one who is the best thief on the lot is dressed in the best suit. I too thought this guy was serious till he started to judge a game by how much money the lead developer spent on his cloths.
  22. One shot weapons, sounds like real life to me. I used to be a M2 gunner on a HMMVE and I'll tell you, a .50 cal stricking leg has a tendency to take the whole leg off and then a little more upwards of there as well. Body parts come off in chuncks. I don't think antimaterial weapons are the problem. I think it is the easy use of such a weapon. No real windage involved. Or the face that you realy can't stand and shoot the weapon at the same time. People talk about what is realistic to find in a civilian market. Out here in Arizona, you do not need a permit to buy a weapon, you do not need a permit to conceal your weapon. If you were to raid my parrents gun safe, where my guns are at too except for my pistol. You would find: 1 Remington 870 1 .243 (scoped) 1 .270 (scoped_ 1 30-06 (scoped) 1 M14 1 M1 Carbine 1 .308 (scoped) 2 9 mill glocks 1 1911 .45 1 .357 mag 1 .44 mag And yes, my father owns a M107, it is to big for the gun safe. According to the last statistics of Arizona, the average household owns eight weapons.

    Auto-Walk Key

I support an auto run button as well. We shouldn't need some heavy object to hold a key down. The "option" should be there for those that want to use it, and for those that don't want to use it, avoid pressing the key. I wont be getting any beans for it, but I admit to using a very small tringle of a sticky post it note to denote the center point of my screen for firing from the hip on a server with no cross hairs.
  24. On one end you have the low end crowed upset about not being able to play at all, while on the other end you have the high end crowed upset that the money spent for a nice rig will be forced to use settings that the low end crowed can play on. Only 2% of the computer population buy premium gear every 6 months. I know that percentage from "Maximum PC" Many others buy 1 to 2 generation old equipment because it is affordable.
  25. I have a story that is along this line, but instead of destroying the helicopters. I tend to move "extra" helicopters way out off the normal map and wait till they run out of fuel out there. So they never respawn <.<
