What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
[email protected] replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was at first excited at the patch notes that zombies were going to be more difficult. And that stuff was not going to spawn as often. Though now it feels like this version is aimed at those who have all day to play. You know, those people who are not working and spend their day in the game for every wakeing hour of their day. Running from zombies just dosn't work. You get knocked down, so you are forced to kill them. And if you only have a gun on you, make sure you have the ammo to last through all the ones you call to your location. Running through bushes in the wilderness dosn't even work iether. I had a zombie follow me from Kamanka all the way to the NWAF. Only reason I was able to shake him there was becuase of the walls and the fences and the low trees. I have spent 24 hours playing this new patch now, and I havn't even found one jerry can. I searched all of Cherno, electro, and even the factory complex. I have found one scrap metal, one windshield, and two wheels. That is it. Then while I was at the NWAF, I did get lucky and find my favorate weapon. The M16 ACOG, though I found nothing else. I was lucky to find it with two mags, I havn't found any other mags, even raiding firestations at the other cities. I have hit up all the downed helicopters. Havn't found any thing... well I did find one pain killer. So in short, I spent 24 hours and found basicly nothling. I normaly only am able to put in 4 hours a night, but today I had off. In four hours, I would not be able to get any where with the game. Another thing I have picked up doing, due to the infection BS they now have, which is just about guaranteed to happend every 5th zombie hit. Is to run back towards the coast and find a safe place to die. Die off, then return with my new character to get my loot back. Make another 2 or 4 hours of playing then do that all over again. I was up for a chalange but this just turned into leet or out. I mean whats up with the zombies spawning in the buildings. You can't even go in them any more to look for stuff. Not unless you are looking to be infected as soon as you walk in now. -
I'll have to pick up Take On Helicopters. If being a pilot is going to be that difficult, I want a head start as I'm already the designated pilot for my group of friends in DayZ.

Private vs. Main hive - Your opinion (And hi Inception)
[email protected] replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I do private hive. When I admined one. we had a large community of normal players. We didn't do the extra vehicle thing, and the only thing changed for starter gear was the addition of a road flare. We had a few scripts enabled like the tow other vehicle. Sling load for the helicopters, a script that made it that every time you moved, it counted as firing your weapon so you had to wait 30 seconds before you could log out (this prevented ppl from logging out and then back iin to make the zombies despawn). Combat loggers were banned. Better anticheat scripts were run as well. So much more order and control on a Private hive then on public. You are paying for a server but you can't do any thing to keep it clean on public. -
Worst Squad Ever...
[email protected] replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I see where Applejack is coming from. In a game where just about every one complains about realism and meta. isn't it cheating to be using communications through a third party program to get around the realism of actuly having to yell to your friend in game since there are no radios? -
Public? Who plays public any more? Private hives are the only way to go. Its the only way that an Admin can actuly keep the hackers out. Why pay for a server that you can't even ban hacks from your server from? The only way to ban them, is to have substantial evidence that they are hacking and then present that to battle eye and let them do the rest.

You plant a garden, you die two days later. 120 days later people are harvesting your work.

Question from Gaming magazine: Why is permadeath fascination
[email protected] replied to Lord_Darkmoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The consequences of being complacent after collecting items that you have risked permadeath for has an emotional impact that stays with you as you loot up again. You truly have to weigh risk vs reward for every action that is presented to you. -
Freaking trolls, is there even a ignore button? And E3 isn't until 11th, 12th, and the 13th. The the 10th if you include the pre-showings stuff. http://www.e3insider.com/

Getting low fps issue in a 7870 HD 2GB O.o
[email protected] replied to ThatGuyPT's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The 7870 is a very good video card. Your CPU is now the bottle neck of your game. ArmA is CPU intensive, one of the few. But last I heard from Razor was that the latest build also was know to brutally kill FPS, so you might want to roll back to an older one. -
Light machine gun comparison
[email protected] replied to -Gews-'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Gews, they should sticky a index for you so that you can link all your weapon comparisons you have done. The information you have provided have all been at a minimum 10 times better then any third party web site out there. Have a backpack full of beans. :beans: -
Also, landing can be difficult as the plane does not like to slow down at all. And as soon as you get to landing speed, don't tilt the plain or the chances of stalling is real high. Also flaps help a lot with this thing when landing, so use the scroll wheel on the mouse to make that selection.

The devs were working on dogs back in the day. I don't know why they dropped it.

Can't Decide... Mk 48 Mod 0 or... M4A3 CCO?
[email protected] replied to measter85's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mod 0, who cares about the recoil. You just compensate by holding the trigger a little longer. Plus one shot normally knocks the target out. Just be mindful of how many rounds you have left. Try to use the mod 0 a semi auto weapon and it will go a long way for you.
